I always thought that it was because the green symobolizes the alien DNA and it being white means the alien DNA already got injected or rather fused with Ben
This is exactly my theory too, but than why did it become green later on is the question? Does that mean the dna wasn't injected completely?

I think it’s personally aesthetics only.
It took the color scheme of Ben’s clothing. Which back in the day was what? BLACK and white.
It transmogrified the Emblem to those colors to represent that the alien is Clothed. And the “brand” of clothing is Galvanic. Ergo the matrix system logo.
Which is why when in later series where the aliens no longer wear clothing that the symbol changes to green. Just showing that the Matrix is activated.

It was simply a design choice because it fits Ben's outfit color scheme in Ben 10. They simply updated it to green to match Ben's new green outfit in AF and UA.

I heard that the white color meant the watch was locked Ben in his alien transformations until the time out kicked in, which means that Ben couldn’t have changed into anything else then.

It could easily be explained by the fact that it's an aspect of the Omnitrix in its pre- rebooted state, Ben 10,000 comes from a future were ben never took the omnitrix off and so it never got the upgraded AF look which started the trend of the green Alien Holographic icons instead of the 2d icons.

Tbh i think its malfunctioning thats why its white in classic ben10 the omnitrix was incomplete and when it got an update in alien force and wet from 1.0 to 2.0 it got completed and the symbol turned green

The omnitrix did not update itself nor did the white symbol disappear in each alien form.
You could argue that in each time Ben sees his future it changes, but what caused for this detail to not change in that future?

In the episode forge of creation young Ben was taken out of his timeline from a point after the summer vacation.
And his transformations have the omnitrix symbol green instead of white.

I think there’s a little more to it young ben in omniverse actually had an omnitrix symbol that was black and green. However mutant ray proves that the scratch guard theory makes no sense. I think it changed over time as ben unlocked more aliens and unlocked more omnitrix secrets. The grey color was an error that corrected itself. I think this makes sense as nobody in alien force seems to note the color of the omnitrix symbol being off so it must have been normal before ben took off the watch

It was green because that's simply the color that it was before the celestialsapiens changed reality to the new artstyle. Especially because UAF/OV flashbacks show it being green too, not white.

I think it’s a protective scratch, consider the omniverse flashbacks which happened after destroy all aliens, the watch was green in that. Maybe the plastic was on only in Alien form or was just really stuck solid on his wrist, but i think it fell off because why else would it be green in OV flashbacks? He had the same watch, the same prototype omnitrix.

It literally had to recalibrate and do a full update when he put it back on. Original Ben 10 was pretty much like a game in beta whereas Alien Force was the full game. Ultimate Alien was an expansion pass with DLC and Omniverse is basically the DLC bundles you get post-game.

You can actually chose what color you want your omnitrux to be. Alebdo turned it red because he wanted to look different from Ben, at least in color scheme

Remember the green symbol only started to appear after Ben started Holographic alien selection from UAF to Omniverse, in the classic series Ben had a 2d selection interface, and as far as flash backs in Omniverse, that could easily be explained by the fact celestialsapiens rewrite the universe all the time

A scratch guard for the strongest weapon in the universe is wild
Needing maintenance makes the most sense. Since Azmuth was in hiding during the first series he only got around to working on the omintrix at Primus after meeting Ben. In the five years when Ben wasn't using the watch all he had to do was turn it on to get all the improvements.

It's likely that it was just simply to designate that it was in use for a transformation, like how orange is self destruct, green is active, etc. At some point after DAA, it went to revision 1.1(a soft recalibration of sorts) where it unlocked Feedback and turned it green to look identical to a Plumber's badge and dropped the white since it served no purpose other than to point out the fairly obvious.

The former explanation due to in the original Ben 10 as well as Ben 10: Alien Force it was the Prototype model (in Ben 10 Alien Force it was updated when Ben put the Omnitrix back on and it had to recalibrate for his older/more mature biology nevertheless still the Prototype model) hence why it was often timing out so often and glitching, besides Ben always slamming down the dial of which Azmith told Ben that it was never designed to be so forcefully activated in addition to the fact that the Omnitrix was originally meant for Grandpa Max but due to unforeseen circumstances and close-enough DNA match it worked for Ben and synced with his unique DNA signature

It being a screen guard makes sense to why in omniverse flashbacks is green, simply say he took it out between the OS and the flashbacks
Could honestly be both, because his upgrade transformation couldn't remember whatever it absorbed and upgraded; even though it's a normal ability for its species to ingrain upgraded technology into itself.
And the scratch guard one, is because honestly I have so many things with a scratch guard that I didn't know was actually on them, via how well they were applied.

I like the idea that it's cause the watch was malfunctioning. That whole thing was basically canon anyway when Ben got the watch fixed and told to not abuse it and it's why he kept transforming into random aliens.

Tbh I think it was designed to be white to match up with Ben's iconic lucky shirt as the main color code and that couldn't think of a lore reason when brought up by the fans.
Same reason why the team opted in for an upgraded omnitrix with a green and black color code for Ben's new outfit.
You'll also notice the same green and black color code throughout the rest of the series minus omniverse for team Ben.

I think it could be kind of like the power it has like green is fully charged red is off and white is kind of in the middle, although the master control debunks that, it is still pretty cool theory(btw it is literally just a design choice not that big of a deal)
