that was my childhood.. then you gatta find yourself a partner whos healthy for you and is open to going to therapy (or doing it online for now since people shouldnt be out to much right now :P)
Just tell him there is nothing wrong with going to therapy. When you go to the doctor, you're not always sick. Sometimes you just wanna know if your physical health is ok. Why would mental health be any different?
1:22 parents and relatives never understand what it does to a child to have them criticized for their weight or body shape. I am in my early teens and slightly overweight and chubby, so my close family members call me motto aka "fatso" or something along those lines. When i protest, they say it is just a joke and I shouldn't take it seriously. I disagree. I'm not against humour, but this is the wrong kind.
Your right, I might have gotten it if they had done it once not realising that it hurt, but stuff like that isn’t funny. You know about your body without other people needing to tell you
Once i went out with my mom to buy a swimming suit and she took the smallest size FOR KIDS even tho i was a teen and she kept making faces when i couldn't put it on this repeated with more sizes and she kept telling "stop pulling your belly in it can't help you" or "you need to start running to lose weight" this hurt me A LOT and still to this day (2 years later) i can't forgive her because she was saying this so everyone could hear and some ppl where even laughing and when i could beraly look at her in the car she said "why are you mad at me It's not my fault don't overreact i almost cried 😐
This is so true! Like people can just say stuff to u-about your appearance, personality-and if you're Indian ur not meant to care. It's so annoying- like we have feelings!
Lilly: *comes home late* Lilly's mom: "where were you" Lilly: "studying" Lily's mom: "it's okay you dont have to lie you can tell me i wont be mad i promise you can trust me" Lilly: I was at a party Lilly's mom: GROUNDED !!!!
Once my mom got to know abt my bf and she said the same thing but I'm strong dude, I disagreed and then she was like " that's good cuz if it was true then I would've cut you in half ND thrown you in the river " 😂😂 I was lucky enough not to fall into her trap
Preach Lily!!!! Literally the story of my life "what will people think?" Unfortunately it's very common in my culture too but I believe there's hope yet! Keep it real Lilly xxxx
This is actually so hard for me bc I can’t ask my brown parents to go to therapy because they wouldn’t understand and then just bombard me with questions and act like I can tell them anything but I can’t.
"mom I think I need therapy" "There's no need for therapy. You just sleep at time and wake up at time" In all seriousness my parents do support therapy for better mental health but the solution to most of my problems is sleeping and waking up at time
So I grew up in a house full of strangers. We weren't allowed to talk at the dinner table. I wasn't allowed to interrupt my parents when they were watching tv. And that was all they did. I was bullied at school every day my whole life and I never told my parents. My mother was always angry and yelling. My parents were always fighting with each other or fighting with my older sister. I can't remember a time I felt happy or safe at home. I have been struggling my whole life to figure out what a home is. I struggle with being intimate too. But I am resilient. I am strong. No matter what life throws my way. I survive.
I am the eldest of 6 We had it rough too Our parents were not happy either however gradually you begin to see the sun rise over the hill - It took what seemed a life time yet it came I see now they had a very rough life too and often now I can let it rest. Take care I've been there I'm a Gramma now of teenagers
I feel ya, it was similar in my home too. But I won't give up and I won't let it break me. I will become stronger despite of all that. And when I have kids one day, I will be the kind of parent to them who I needed. I will be supportive and loving. I will treat them like human beings and not as some extensions of myself.
To all of you who feel this way, I am sending joyous thoughts for you all, so that the joy in your own self makes you feel safe and at home. I am one of them too.
She made a video explaining this some time ago. If you really are her supportive fans then you should look it up and respect her growing and evolving. No one stays the same, not even you. Be kind 🙏

I watch lilly whenever i get the chance as my my always moans at me for being on my phone and i have to leave it downstairs untouched.
When your parents try to tell you that you can’t be depressed or have anxiety because they have more reason to be those than you and ‘what do you have to be depressed about?’
Omg yes. I’m tired of being judged when I tell people I’ve been to therapy. I was literally told once “you just have to not let things bother you” ... I was diagnosed with PTSD 😒
I love how people who say that you shouldn’t let stuff bother you were the people who missed a week of school because their boyfriend broke up with them in middle school

Parent: You know you can talk to me about anything right?
Me: *skeptical but tries*
Also parent: *talks over me, yells, disregards my feelings, thinks Im making excuses and my emotions dont matter*
Me: *keeps everything to myself now and cries at night*
IKR!
Omg that is my life. :/
that was my childhood..
then you gatta find yourself a partner whos healthy for you and is open to going to therapy
(or doing it online for now since people shouldnt be out to much right now :P)
I hope you're doing okay
@@myselfotaku9188 thanks! Not doing great actually lol but I hang in there.

Every Indian parent say that 😂

every brown parent in this universe...
Trust me sis every Indian person says this 😂
@@aruasmr26170 Not only India. In europe too😂
my heart sunk when she said
" hey it's your girl lilly"
NOT " hey it's your girl SUPERWOMAN "
Why did she change?
same, still not used to it..😂
she's becoming more confident in herself and she's seeing herself as her own hero as opposed to superwoman
It shouldn't. Lilly is way stronger =) x
Sara Foster I was looking for this coming
I am an introvert and have anxiety issues. Honestly my parents don't know what these words even mean...
I’m Hispanic and I’m an introvert and my parents also have no idea what it is
"Issues? Why you have issues, you magazine?" Oh lawd I'm dying wid laughter here😅😅😅😅😅😅
My dad is brown and guess what he does not believe in therapy. He literally grounded me for asking to go to therapy so I understand it.
Same.. it's not just parents..' know it all' friends as well...it's better not to let anyone know when one is going to therapy
yeah i feel that. what i asked to go to therapy my dad told me if i want to kms go ahead 🙃
@@JOY-kh3rq I'm sorry
the struggle is real fam x
Oh my gosh yes. And one time my weight was literally all they talked about at the event. I wanted to disappear.
This is so true! Like people can just say stuff to u-about your appearance, personality-and if you're Indian ur not meant to care. It's so annoying- like we have feelings!
Lilly: *comes home late*
Lilly's mom: "where were you"
Lilly: "studying"
Lily's mom: "it's okay you dont have to lie you can tell me i wont be mad i promise you can trust me"
Lilly: I was at a party
Lilly's mom: GROUNDED !!!!
My therapy starts when Lilly comes to the live chat. RIPP
Honestly it’s because I’m not drinking enough water
Such an important message delivered in such a funny way. Thanks Lilly :)
This is actually so hard for me bc I can’t ask my brown parents to go to therapy because they wouldn’t understand and then just bombard me with questions and act like I can tell them anything but I can’t.
“What will people think?” That sentence has haunted me and will haunt me for life.

"There's no need for therapy. You just sleep at time and wake up at time"
In all seriousness my parents do support therapy for better mental health but the solution to most of my problems is sleeping and waking up at time
I died at " shame shame" 😂

"Oh you are sad, but not too sad to play with phone" -most used sentence from immigrant/brown parents😂 #truestory

Hello
Me!
*Lilly
So I grew up in a house full of strangers. We weren't allowed to talk at the dinner table. I wasn't allowed to interrupt my parents when they were watching tv. And that was all they did. I was bullied at school every day my whole life and I never told my parents. My mother was always angry and yelling. My parents were always fighting with each other or fighting with my older sister. I can't remember a time I felt happy or safe at home. I have been struggling my whole life to figure out what a home is. I struggle with being intimate too. But I am resilient. I am strong. No matter what life throws my way. I survive.
WolfmoonWoman never give up ,hopefully you meet someone who understands you just the way you are.
You will be good...loads and loaaads of luck be to youuuuu😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘😘

When your parents try to tell you that you can’t be depressed or have anxiety because they have more reason to be those than you and ‘what do you have to be depressed about?’

Omg yes. I’m tired of being judged when I tell people I’ve been to therapy. I was literally told once “you just have to not let things bother you” ... I was diagnosed with PTSD 😒
Same... sometimes it's better not to tell anyone that you go to therapy... there are so many 'know it all's'
I love how people who say that you shouldn’t let stuff bother you were the people who missed a week of school because their boyfriend broke up with them in middle school
