    Wanted to reply to you & let you know that your method worked for bleeding rear brakes. My husband doesn't think brake service was ever done on this car (was his Dad's). Lots of gunk. Also did the fronts and once we cleared an air pocket, it cleared out lots of gunk on the fronts too. Thanks again for your expertise & help. Appreciate it very much!

      @Shaune Smith , I'm glad it worked out. Please subscribe as I'm sure that I'll be making more videos on this car in the coming months

    I have been going through the same process this week. Front caliper didn't bleed until another person pressed the brake and plenty of rubbish came out. So maybe you don't need to rebuild caliper. It depends if piston is moving or not.

    Four caliper rebuild kits (front & back) and 4 brake lines from SNG won’t be expensive and would do you a world of good. Good Job so far 👍🏾. As coincidence would have it, my 94 XJS 4.0’s entire brake system is completely drained and I’m about to bleed the brakes from scratch as well. Keep up the good work 👏🏾

    If I buy the ticket and put you up, can you come to Boston and save my '90 XJ6? My local old jag mechanic hates them (with good reason) and tries desperately to talk me out of these long adventures I get into. Currently I'm on a side-quest for Air Conditioning. 😂

    Might need some lock wire on the steering arm while you’re doing the calliper ;-)

    OK another question about this? In summary, turn the ignition on (but don't start the car), 2-person process with 1 person sitting in car pumping brake or just depressing once on the brake & holding to engage the bleeder bottle? ALSO - we cannot find standard DOT 4. Only DOT 4 synthetic. Is this OK to use in this car once the brakes are completely bled out?

      Press and hold, then open the bleeder. Let the electric pump do the pumping. When bled, close bleeder and release pedal

      @@kdsrbaldwin4621YMMV but not until I bled all 4 and refilling with Pentosin Super Dot 4 did my ABS light turn off. Granted, there could be 3 dozen *other* variables that led to that effect but that's the (ahem) "beauty" of these %^!%!%^#$ cars. 😂

    check fluid is coming through the flexi pipe before changing the caliper

      Good point, it could very well be the brake hose

      The ball likely needs replacing. If it loses charge you wont have brakes

      @@nickr7747 the accumulator was replaced when I bought the car. That's not to say that it doesn't need replacing again as it was a while ago. I will test it

    so you dont need to run the engine? Broom stick is keeping pedal on floor?

    • @aalabbasi
      @aalabbasi  2 роки тому +1

      Yep, the pump is electric and kicks in when the pressure drops, so all that's needed is to depress the brake pedal for the rear brakes as you would with a Bentley.
