    One of the issues I noticed with your wiring harness is that you want all the balancing leads to be the same length in order to provide the same resistance for each lead. If I have to run longer lengths due to installation requirements, I use #12 gauge stranded wire of equal length run to din mount terminal blocks in order to connect to the BMS leads. This avoids crimping onto the smaller gauge wires, and in my opinion provides a cleaner and more rugged installation.

    If that's a yellow crimp terminal on the returned balance loom, it's the wrong size for that thickness cable and it will never crimp down tight 🤔
    I don't do many BMSs but i have trouble shot a lot of stereo installs in vehicles and I'd say 80% of the time it's terminal issues, usually too large a terminal on a thin cable ☹️
    Great vid as usual guys 👍

      Yeah, those balance leads were a bit of a mess! Definitely highlights the importance of sizing wire and lugs/terminals correctly! :)

    Better strip the wire make a ring and shoulder it. Solid

    well...my Daly smart bms just started to measure one cell out of the four some 0.4v lower voltage than the cell was in reality. Customer support did not reply. I changed the bms, now the reading is ok. So far I bought two Daly BMS, one faulty one not. Ridiculous.

    I tested my harness, s1 3.3, s2 000, s3 and remaining of 17 pin harness show minus voltage readings. 16 cell pack tests to 52.9v. Each cell test well. So must be harness. Probably S2. Can you do a video of testing harness. Maybe show how to repair them ?

    depends on the voltage... sometimes you get a shitty 72 bms.. maybe bad stock but how i make my battery arrays... it's not a possibility.. running it with stock wires then extending the wires with slightly thicker wires causes big problems for a bms... these glass cannon devices should be usingstock wires and if you have to extend some of the wires.. use thin/same guage

    Is there an effect if I accidentally connected the P- terminal to the positive terminal of the battery? Did I damage the daly standard bms?

    Hi,
    I have a 16s 48v 250a daly bms on my golf cart. It keeps shutting off when I accelerate. Not every time but often. Would this be a parameter issue or as simple as a bad connection?

    • @offgrid_power
      @offgrid_power  2 роки тому

      Could be a loose connection or a runaway cell. Does it do it with a particular cell consistently?

    I need help, I have a new Daly 14s 48v 150a smart li-ion bms and it shuts off after 30 seconds and wont charge. 2 strings are at fault, 1 is too high and one is too low. I didn't charge the pack up before adding the bms, is this the issue? Will it even out after charging and then fix itself. The charger won't charge through the bms as if its in protect mode. Any help would be appreciated majorly, can't find any one with this problem on UA-cam.

    What is the B- awg size on Daly Smart Bluetooth BMS 400A ?

  • @dashley2525
    @dashley2525 Рік тому +1

    Why is B- 8 mm when most cells have a 6 mm post?

    • @offgrid_power
      @offgrid_power  Рік тому

      Not sure to be honest. Possibly because they intended for them to be used with cells that have M8 terminals or just a bad design decision.

    do you know how to fix the recent firmware failed update?

    • @offgrid_power
      @offgrid_power  Рік тому

      Supposedly you can fix it by plugging your BMS into a PC and updating, but we have not tried yet.

    what size lug fits the bms leads?

      Usually the red (smallest) insulated ring lugs work best. We like the pink ones from this set: geni.us/InsulatedLugs

      I'm having the same issue, I have a li-ion 14s 48v 150a smart bt bms. It starts up for about 30 seconds and then shuts off, I have to keep turning my charger on and off for bt(bluetooth) to activate for another 30 seconds or so. Why is this doing this? Also, my bms shows 2 string too high and too low, I didn't charge my cells before putting them in the packs, so should I disconnect the bms and charge the pack up then hook the daly bms back up? Any help would be appreciated

      @@ericblanchard5873 yea my bms has shut off on me a few times usually during charging when the cell deviation gets wide as I noticed that my BMS wasn't completely turned off it just wasn't allowing no more extra charge to come in and when I waited long enough it did turn itself back on but I always unplugged the leads plug it back in to jump start it again and it stays running

    im having new issues with all Daly BMS ive purchased, 6 in total. Nothing to do with connections, since the app update where you now get single cell, parallel and series options. Bluetooth just keeps going off not connecting, sometimes not recognising at all. Repeatedly disconnecting and reconnecting bluetooth dongle, worked perfect before this app update, anyone having similar problems? BMS working fine with delta v very low but this bluetooth thing is an absolute arse ache.

    • @BlinkerDKS

      I have similar issue. Just after update it's looks like Bluetooth is sleeping (BMS works fine) But Bluetooth dongle isn't waking up after charge/discharge. If I replug microUSB Bluetooth dongle then it turns on and I able to see it in the app and connect to it. It works during charge/discharge. After 3600 sec after charge/discharge is over bt dongle turns off. And then I have to replug microUSB again to start it..

    I installed 5 Daly BMS with automatic balance function, two of them were damaged after 3 days, not physically but with lack of communication. Another Chinese garbage. Internal software communication problem if you cannot connect, you cannot reset the device.
