Sorry y’all, I meant to switch this video to “public” yesterday and totally dropped the ball! Hope you enjoy a more lax Spotlight today and make sure to check out the links in the video description!
@@KerryLorah I recall the shop I worked at having a Neill Sanders trombone mouthpiece with such a slant. I didn’t get the chance to try it out because it was a medium shank and not a single instrument in the shop could fit it.
Subject A may have some potential in an older model alto trombone. I'm currently scheming a design for a soprano trombone with a larger bore and F trigger, with a receiver that takes something like a tenor horn mouthpiece. I may end up making a mouthpiece that ends up looking like Subject A.
@@harleyzeth I thought about its potential for alto trombone as well. Its cup is not quite as drastically small as that of most Eb horn mouthpieces, but it’s about halfway between what I’d use on the two instruments. Unfortunately I didn’t have an alto trombone to test it out on. Let me know if that soprano project ever comes to fruition. I’ve always wanted to add tubing to a soprano trombone myself, be it an F attachment or a full trumpet valve block to make a half-size Superbone of sorts.
@@SamuelPlaysBrass I'll definitely upload a video of me playing it once it comes along. I have the means to make concept horns, but I need to get everything down before I have a legit builder make it for me because of the cost. Once I figure out what I want the bore to be, I'll have it built professionally. My vision is sort of a "bass" soprano that is truly a trombone and doesn't fit on the Trumpet vs Flugelhorn spectrum. Similar to how a Bass trombone's timbre can't really be described as "between tenor trombone and euphonium."
I bought a Wurlitzer Valve Trombone for… reasons… and it came with a mouthpiece that was definitely brass underneath the badly worn plating. I somehow managed to find an exact match on eBay with intact plating. Oh yeah, there’s no brand info on either mouthpiece. And yeah, I play trumpet, not trombone.
You coming to “horn club” tomorrow (Tuesday)? 6:30pm, Audobon Park. I’ve got an old trombone sitting in a closet I can give you if you want it. I think it’s maybe a Conn Director. The slides need straightening. I once thought I would learn trombone, but no more. lmk. I also have a random gold plated tuba mouthpiece lying around somewhere I grabbed long ago at a garage sale for like $5. I could donate it to GU if it is a nice, standard size, not sure.
@@domepiece11 I can’t make it this week but I’d certainly be interested in checking out both of the aforementioned at some point. I’ll text you if I’m able to make it next week.

You always do an amazing job showcasing equipment you somehow come by
@@tomchojnowski9215 Thank you Tom! I appreciate that a lot.
Ah yes, a swig of beer before playing your prized trombone. You the man!
@@feelgoodcharlie3822 Absolutely not. No alcohol for me. If you see me taking a swig out of a mug, it’s tea-huckleberry in this case.
Dont feel so pressured Sam, you always bring great content regardless of the topic, keep up the awesome work🎉

Great video Samuel 😁👍👍
@@peternaryd_operasinger thank you!
@@SamuelPlaysBrass You're welcome
You should do an instrument collection video. I’m curious about everything in your collection
@@metronoth I’ve been dragging my feet on that video amidst many requests. Not particularly inclined…
Neill Sanders trumpet mouthpieces have a similar rim that has a slant inward at the cup.

@@SamuelPlaysBrass I got one from WWBW back in the day. Felt too weird for me.
