- These songs fit so perfectly together, and I’ve seen this concept floating around on the internet for a while so I decided to put my own spin on it :)

they are both based on Rebeccas sugars experience as a child when she left her favorite toy outside and forgot about it for years. She came back and the side facing the sun became lighter due to the constant exposure to sunlight, while the other side remained dormant. She came to the realization that everything changes, regardless of you being there or not it goes on without you. These songs are told from both the perspective of someone finding something they lost and losing something they found becoming lost themselves.

@Olatz Aizpuru well they didn't exactly "use" them. They created them for the sole purpose of serving them,believing they wouldn't want to do literally anything else other than please them. Humans were no different 2 thousand years ago,it just took us less time to realize that equality is a thing. The Diamonds were space nazis after all,what else would you expect
We don't know if Pink was planning on leaving Spinel there forever or if she wanted to go back for her in the end, but when the plan of the fake rebellion backfired she couldn't anymore since she was stuck on Earth now.

Well now with Distant Lands, we see its not just Simon she meant. Her mother also was forced to leave her due to illness

Marceline’s second solo with that echo sound so beautiful
Listening to these songs separately is like being shot in the chest with that weird happy-sad feeling. Listening to this is like being hit with a bazooka of the happy-sad thing.
Im absolutely sure that rebecca sugar created an emotion
I always called it nostalgia or morriña (a specific Portuguese/Galician term that is not exactly nostalgia). '' A very hard to describe feeling'' (Adventure Time reference)
This fits the story so much, when marceline sings, it’s like after spinel sings, pink comes back to check up on spinel in a alternate universe, she is just laying there, motionless.
During the song-to-song transitions i got chills from how perfectly they fitted... Very well done!

i recently rewatched steven universe and steven universe the movie again, and these 2 clicked in my head immediately when i heard "the garden" again :( i remember being so excited to watch the steven universe movie when it came out and i loved both steven universe and adventure time as a kid im so sad :((((

I'm currently in mourning and I'm now all alone. This made me think of my best friend who is my dog and I had to have him put down because he was just suffering from illnesses and the vet said he can only be put down to ease his suffering. We'd play in the garden for hours......now the garden will only be a reminder of our joy as I live on without him while clad in black clothes. He doesn't sit here now...... he's now with his son.....and all of his doggy friends. Though I feel like a fool for thinking of him being by my side all my life......he knows how much I miss him and he's probably gonna watch me all my life. I sound just like Pearl and Spinel right now, still missing the one person they loved most even though they know they're never coming back.
My favorite mash up for these two songs I’ve found a few others but none of them were as good as this one hands down this is the best one!!
I was amazed when I heard the mashup of Earth Wind and Fire's September with Daft Punk's Cosmic Love because of the years between the songs and the different styles. But with this, they were both written by Rebecca Sugar so I'm not surprised at how well they fit together. Great work though, what you did sounds wonderful.

I wonder if these two would get along. They both have abandonment issues that span over many human lifetimes.
Imagine if they fuse because of somewhat relating to each other though. Even if it probably isn't physically possible. It would be cool to see. Especially with Spinel's rejuvenator and Marceline's bass.

Saw a comment under a video that said that everything stays was based on how Rebecca sugar lost a stuffed animal and found it in her garden years after. Maybe drift away is also based on that event, but from the perspective of the stuffed animal
