I'm genuinely quite impressed that the Squad 44 devs put this much effort into making the Gunto's look as accurate as possible, usually pacific front games (RS1 being an exception) just throw any old katana in and call it a day. This particular Gunto shown is the Type 95 Gunto which was the mass produced variant made for NCO's. Judging by the tsuba (handguard) and the handle, this is a sort of early-mid war example of a Type 95. Earlier Type 95's would have a cast copper handle but this one is probably the later aluminium variant (since you can see the aluminium below the scratched paint). Later ones would get simplified and down right crude as you enter the mid-late war phase, the tsuba would just be stamped iron that was blackened and by the very end of the war, they stopped using aluminium for the handles and throw on very rough and basic wooden handles.

Now I can finally see a random guy holding samurai sword charging at you in game and I’m really wonder does squad 44 have a way to talk to your enemy though voice proximity chat
Now when they add Japan would be nice to do some China, Malaysia or Burma content. I think China would be great, There is a huge chinese audience out there. Also, no game I know of has ever done China. You could even add in a few Soviet, British or US tanks in as lend-lease. Then you dont have to create a lot of new assets.
I'd absolutely love something like the Remington Model 11 or a Browning Auto 5 being added later down the line. That would be amazing and would blow my socks off. It's difficult finding documentation that supports those weapons being used in the Pacific, so it's a bit of a Hail Mary.
The first milsim like game I ever played was Red Orchestra 2: Rising storm. It was the Pacific front for that game, it completely changed how i viewed first person shooters and absolutely ruined CoD for me lol. Those servers are long dead now and I've been waiting for something else to fill in that gap for me, there aren't any words in the English language that can express my excitement for this update

I love some asymmetrical warfare rising storm 2 does it really well in their Vietnam game. I’d even go as far as giving the Japanese higher movement speed and letting them climb trees and give Americans extra artillery strikes and vehicles
Did that guy really forget about battlefield 5 and all the variety of tanks it had even a flamethrower tank which I'm pretty sure was in one of the trailers as well how do you forget something like that 🤔
