If you are impressed with this garbage then you know nothing of history. No MiG-21s flew interceptor missions in 1983. They were to slow and to limited in range. Their missiles were to limited as well. The ‘82 conflict in Lebanon proved that. For this scenario to even begin to get close to reality you would need MiG-23s and MiG-25s and bo involvement with Sweden since they were neutral and not part of NATO…

They grew up together, they joined together, they graduated together, they flew together, they died together, and now they'll be flying side by side forever.

Most movies today that takes place during the Cold War are mostly about the West. I'm glad to see a movie, even if it's a fan made movie, that's from the other perspective, the East.
@@Ryan_Christopher Well most MiG-25s were single seater, those in the video were double seater. Also the main landing gear of a 25 is one really large tires while those in the video were two staggered wheels.
9:01 to the end is absolutely stunning dude. The whole thing is amazing but that ending really caught my attention especially the last scene. Keep it up, you definitely don't have the following that you should but with that video you just earned yourself another subscriber

There are many DCS video's out there with incredible content but every few have such finessed editing whilst still telling a beautiful story. I can only imagine how much time went into making this. Pure inspiration! Subbed!

Even as a diehard NATO enjoyer, I liked this one immensely. I like the MiG-21 a lot, and you paid good tribute to it. Thank heavens Able Archer didn't blow up the way it could have.

Seeing those Soviet military parades in Red Square were so intimidating. Fast forward nearly four decades, and we have our own citizens calling for communism in the United States. Wow, have times changed.
a few things wrong with this: rarely ever are people actually calling for communism, and the only thing wrong with communism is the way it’s been attempted before
I dunno man Why do we need to politicize everything related to the soviet union? Agreed. The times were stressful back then and there was a lot of tension around We don't talk about American involvement in Vietnam/Afghanistan below similar videos. Seriously can't we tolerate for once that the Russians are portrayed as the good guys ? I mean we still make games where we literally transfer US war crimes like the 'highway of death' in the first gulf War to the Russians needlessly. Agreed. Communism was a brutal system. But the gulag and the political executions associated with them were shut down after the death of Stalin in 1954 ( that's not me...look at the CIA declassified report in 1955 about the release of 15 American POWs) from that point on the USSR and the US actually have a lot of points in common. The US had their vietnam and the USSR had its Afghanistan. They both played out like rival powers typically do and in my humble opinion this conversation wasn't even needed below such a video. The secret policing and censorship continued in the USSR even after 1954 but that's just that. I think we need to stop hating and wasting our time denigrating a nation that doesn't even exist anymore.
flying, record, edit, are easy. Building drama, it's the most difficult work in cinema and music. And even worse when it's about jet fighters. Excellent and very emotional work, so much directors of military movies should learn from your cinematic guys..
Amazing !! Cold War is the best for DCS. Able Archer!! Now have to rewatch "Deutschland 83" TV series (highly recommended). Thanks for the amazing footage! Please do more about Cold War :)
But why? Those 2 swede guys did their job, they completed the mission(1 was down, unfortunately), but 2 interceptors failed it. Also, the movie did not show us how interceptors matched vectors and speed so they caught bugies in such way.
Great video. Represents the ridiculousness of warfare and the sadness of it all. The two childhood friends who love to fly, just protecting each other. "In the Nuclear world, the true enemy, is war itself".
Great video. Chuck Yeager in his autobiography said that it always made him laugh all these pilots talking in the movies. In real life, you shut up and you fly the aircraft. Not much energy to waste on talking. :)
As a person who has served in the military, and a DCS player who has found joy and comradery in the game....this made me shed a tear. The transitions between the prop planes and the jets are epic!
"That is who we are, why we fly. I'll be on your wing to the end." I cried.
That last scene, the sacrifice... The knowledge they were not going home, ever, and yet still ran to when others would run away...
