Student-teacher sexual (predatory) relationships are far more common than we like to think. When I was in high school, I think 10 teachers got busted in our county for either inappropriate relations with students or possessing CP. Joking about it is absolutely disgusting
One of my teachers was literally escorted off campus for what we assume was an inappropriate relationship with a student, and then I know a handful of teachers who didn't get caught but would hook up with students once they were 18 and technically no longer students. I really do think it is more common than people like to think
One of my teachers was actually arrested for creating cp. Nobody even suspected him till a kid noticed a camera in the restroom the teacher told him he could use.
Yeah, several of my teachers in middle/high school were found having inappropriate contact with minors. I don’t know where they all ended up, I don’t even know if they all got jail time even though I can personally confirm most of the accusations. It’s such a horrible joke to make.

A big issue I have with this short film is how fatphobic it is on so many levels and the ableism as well. Ofc there’s the classic Shane level of fatshaming/& phobia in every piece of media he creates but him also trying to convince his love interest that she isn’t fat as if being fat is a bad thing doesn’t send a great message. Then also undermining the seriousness of ED’s is horrible. It’s also telling that the punchlines of the offensive jokes aren’t the stupidity of the characters making them, the punchline is the targets of the jokes. It’s one thing if the joke is that Gigi’s character is so cartoonishly mean and acts like a stereotypical bully in a 2000’s movie but that’s never the joke, it’s always “let’s point and laugh at this marginalized community”. It’s not only offensive, insensitive and telling of his views but also offensively unfunny. It’s almost impressive how bad of a comedian he is that his content isn’t even one of those things that are so bad that they’re funny. Jakes commentary makes it funny and entertaining though, I don’t know how I would’ve been able to watch awful content like this without a great commentator alongside it!
Being fat IS a bad thing. Plus shane has always struggled with his weight and his experiences reflect on his writing and sketches/jokes he makes, this is his experience and u have no right to invalidate it.

He may be thinking about his own experience but I’m sure a lot of the viewers watching have their own weight issues and eating disorders and with all the jokes about how “horrible” being overweight is, it can destroy their self confidence, especially if they valued his opinion at the time of watching.
Though Shane’s more well known film easily proves that he has no regard for his audience and only cares about making jokes he likes, no matter the “edge”.

As someone who’s been in a school shooting, my school continued to be known not as the school in which a shooting happen, but as the gay school so Shane’s wrong on that one

Yeah. The larger people at my school weren’t treated any different for the most part. Of course you had a couple assholes who would make comments behind peoples backs but only their small immature rude friends laughed. Lots of the larger students were popular and had lots of friends and my high school had over 2000 people. People didn’t like Shane because he was creepy and his sense of humor wasn’t funny, it was disgusting. It was definitely his personality that was the problem. He just makes my skin crawl and I’m sure he made his classmates feel the same.
The beginning "joke" about teacher-student SA legitimately made me tear up. I feel sick.

hi jake. i’ve been doing intensive outpatient therapy for about a week now and so far it’s been a pretty grueling process on me. i just want to let you know that finding your channel around the same time was such a lucky twist of fate and has really been helping me get my mood up lately. even if it’s only for about 20 minutes, it really does make my whole day so much better. keep doing what you’re doing. i really hope this channel becomes bigger and more appreciated bc you deserve it. and tell hannah i say hi :)

I went to residential rehab for my mental health for a month , I was only 18 (which is the youngest you could be in the adult ward) and left to go literally 3 days after my birthday. It was hard at times and I really missed my family, but it was so worth it in the end! I'm so proud of you for even taking this step to help yourself , you're very brave ❤

My whole job is costuming student productions, and even when there isn’t a dedicated production team there are dress rehearsals!
Also, the fat suit prosthetics are truly awful. I’ve never seen good fat prosthetics on a face, I think it’s a mix of makeup designers and artists and directors not caring what fat people look like and it being very difficult to use any prosthetics around the jaw and cheeks and neck since that part of the face is so mobile and prosthetics are very very much not.
Can't remember if it was in the thing, but he's _super_ homophobic in that book, too. Given some of the shit he's tried to pull, I'm surprised he's not faced criminal charges.
Has he ever grown out of the teenage mindset? No. Still has women and mommy issues. All the character dialogue are Shane's inner dialogue about how everyone hates him and how he's a victim. Such a sad human specimen...

Most of my (limited) knowledge about publishing is about the fiction side of things, where you query agents after you've already written a complete manuscript, but I have heard that for nonfiction they often recommend you reach out to publishers or agents before you finish so you can pitch ideas/direction to them. I guess it just depends if you're going more memoir or creative nonfiction, that might be more in the middle where you could go either way.
(This is just coming from someone preparing to start the querying process, so I don't have any insider info or anything)
