I wholeheartedly agree -- but I'll add this bit below that I wrote on my blog: Every day during lunch I’d walk back to my apartment in Fort Lauderdale for a bite and some Midday MONK. After many years of not seeing it, it was so fresh again. While I eventually came around to accepting Natalie way back when, nobody could beat Bitty Schram’s Sharona. I must admit - there’s an element of prejudice in how I wouldn’t allow Natalie to operate in her own space (as opposed to just being compared to Sharona). Once I let that go - I was able to appreciate the uniqueness of Natalie and what she brought to the table. Instead of fixating on who’s better, I allowed them to co-exist - which enhanced my enjoyment of the show.

@@mcveljo There's no end to what I could say about the greatness of MONK. Just recently I've gone through almost the entire series again -- and I'm always amazed by how fresh it remains no matter how many times I've seen it. I will still HOWL at some of those lines -- and the banter between MONK and Sharona was PURE GOLD, as you well know. There are pure-comedy shows that go to great efforts to be funny -- and come nowhere close to the effortless comedy in MONK. I actually "borrow" one of his lines from time to time: "Stirring defense" in response anyone's ridiculous reply that has no bearing on reality. But I don't have the charm that comes with a smackdown from MONK. ;o) Glad to hear you opened up to Natalie. She had HUGE shoes to fill -- and I treated her unfairly at first by not considering that. It wasn't the same show without Sharona, but it was a still a great show -- as you agree. Appreciate your thoughts! Great stuff!! :o)

This show would have been nothing without her & also w/o Leland & Randy... it was still entertaining, but had lost a lot of the funny flair without Sharona ~ Natalie was always like a ‘big child...’ 😟🥱 & her peepsy voice was also annoying & she had no pizzazz, compared to Sharona 💥✨😍🙂 🔥💥✨

My point was that the way the show was designed, even the 2nd main character leaving wouldn’t totally tank the show. The show was based around Tony shalhoub. Another aspect is the writing. That same good writing continued. And it didn’t rank . Like I already said, it wasn’t as good of course. And sharona was better in my opinion. But I’ve talked to plenty of monk fans who actually liked Natalie better.

She stopped acting completely with a net worth of 2.5 million which is a good amount of money but if she run out she might have to turn into a regular non famous person with a normal job

It wasn’t as good, but it still won emmy’s and lasted another 5.5 seasons. So, it didn’t die at all. The Star was Tony Shalhoub, not Bitty schram.
