the most practical 7.5t without tailift is the ones dp d use eg short 7.5 with sliding sides that have slamlock rear shutter and sliding doors that lock but can still get oblong pallet in and out of side doors with the security that you dont get with a curtainsider Iveco 7.5t is light enought to have curtainsidee and tailift and an okish drive Vans etc curtain sode box but used to drive a mercedes box with tailft which was ideal for supermarket cages and you could lock tailift etc
@@PetetheCourierDriver over the years ive driven dp d 7.5 t daf with the sliding door sides on bulk parcel route Whistl 7.5t short box with foldaway short tailift underneath on parcel route on agency And dhl 7.5t standard box with foldaway tailift And 7.5t box with full size tailift which weighs about 1 tonne to lift heavy photocopiers etc on air suspension 7.5t iveco curtainsider with foldaway tailift which was very practical And isuzu and mitsubishi 7.5t dropside trucks whicj can take about 3 tonne payload And mercedes 7.5t dropsode metal truck etc driven them all lol the more you add tp the 7.5t the less weight you have available
Problem im having and it backs up pete beautifully is simply this . 50% of the luton jobs listed on CX are for a curtain sider ............. mines a rigid ........... If it were longer term i would consider having a side cut out . I can only see it as an opener to get more choise of work plus charge more based on the jobs listed . At the minute i cant see it being in my interest . Down side ? ..... strapping down will not be so easy when you dont have a rigid side . Im guessing its possible to ask for a load bearing curtain which could help ? . If not it will really need T pieces dropping into the floor or eyelets ..... another consideration . Prices ive come across are 1600 however your off the road for 2 weeks so consider loss of earning there also . If i were to say sod it and get it done then jan-march being the slowest periods would make some sense . The van would gain maybe its cost in value if thats a consideration . As is with most things if you get a luton without a tail lift you will not benefit from having a luton . If you have a tail lift then you will not get the curtain work . If you have tail and curtain then its now down to ulez ......... if you have a tail , curtain and euro 6 then you are still fighting it out for weight .............. The courier world ... its like juggling cats .
truckers and couriers should get themselves a solar powerbank and a camping toilet like they have on narrowboats and in campervans etc especially after the last year or so when toilet facilities werent available to commercial drivers etc
Such a great man! honest and hard working.
Thanks Dan. It's not so bad. And thank you for watching.
Thanks much. Self employed driver owner aspiring myself. I Appreciate these counsels and stories from fellow highway pilots a lot.

Is it worth having a Luton converted to curtain but only one side so you’ve got best of both worlds
My van been converted that way you should see the amount of work we get because of that
@@garymoffat9162 wher did you get van converted + how much was it
Hi Pete, how good is it to run on extra long wheel on CX.
Hi Pete, how good its to run on CX with 3.5 extra long wheels base
Lutons have gone up in price so much doubled id say. loads of bargain 7.5 ton for sale cheap
@Jim Bob even the euro 5s have doubled in price. euro 6 sprinters are 15k + . more like 20k for a good one
