I bought 3lbs of petrified wood for tumbling off ebay recently and couldn't decide if l should actually tumble it because it's so cool in it's nature state but after seeing yours I'm definitely going to tumble it!!
Well Charlie I am using 60/90 Silicone Carbide mixed with water, combined with the tumbling action of the rocks it breaks down to a fine slurry in about a week and is no longer as effective as when first added, while it would continue to grind away at the rocks it would be so much slower. Hope this helps.
Awesome video! You are doing a fantastic job on polishing them!
Thank you! Cheers!
That finished piece is really beautiful, well worth the effort, and all the time it takes to get it looking like that.
Are you planning any giveaway drawings on a few finished pieces of petrified wood. If so, let us rock hounds know.
I have a question
Thanks.
Ask away.

It is a difficult rock to tumble to perfection so be prepared for a few that will not completely polish.
@@Metal-Detecting-Texas I'm one of those who loves the imperfections lol I just want to bring out some of their natural beauty
Regarding that beautiful finished piece, any idea how much material was removed during this 7 week process? Did it start out twice as large?
It is approximately 1/3 to 1/2 its original size.
I should have asked my question on a new line…. Why do you have to do a weekly clean out? Could you just leave them in the tumblers for a month?
