Ok ngl when you started crying I did too, your passion is so genuine and it really touched me. I'm so scared of being vulnerable in any way (might be because in the past I'd always be written off as 'sensitive' or 'dramatic', being an autistic girl sucked growing up) so when you gave me permission to just do whatever I want it was really nice. Thanks for the video
As a fellow autistic girly, I see you! Took me until 30 years old to allow myself to be vulnerable…it really does takes time to heal from the pain of people misunderstanding you. Glad you liked the video and wishing you all the best ❤️❤️
Off topic: Idk you, but you seem dope AF! On topic: I haven't seen zines in ages. I was born in Glendale in 1981. I went to school in East L.A. (White Memorial Academy k-8), while living in Azusa until 97, then we moved to Dallas, TX. I remember reading my best friends sisters zines that she would make and collect. I read a lot of band zines for NOFX, Rancid, and the Hellcat crew, Nirvana, Metallica, White Zomies, Snoop, Tupac, MTV, Simpsons etc. These zines were all made by local fans and groupies and it was raw and heart felt, funny, wack, dope, and creative with an Idgaf attitude. I always wanted to make one, but at the time, I was a young toy graffiti artist doing black book challenges and tagging up on anything standing vertical. All this to say, I thought Zines were dead? Until, coming across your channel. I was also shocked to see zines fest and Etsy having zines, I just thought that shit was a local Cali thing. I never saw a zine in TX from 1997-2013. Well, I'm glad your channel exists and for bringing back some core memories of my Cali-dayz!
oh I love your pep talks!! they are so helpful. Even for someone like myself who has been making zines for years it can be easy to fall into the perfectionist zone and not finish zines for months & months. Thank you!!
There's a deceptively simple exchange in The Libertine that always stuck with me, when Rochester is salty that his less talented friend Etherege gets rave reviews for his new play: "I could have written that." "But you didn't."
ive lovedddd watching ur reels on instagram and youve really been inspiring me to make zines. ive made almost 10 zines in the last month n have been doing trades at independent press fairs and stuff and it has been SOOOOOOO much fucking fun i am loving it!! thank you for making these videos bc i have been starved for zinemaking content and ur stuff is inspiring : ))
the way i started tearing up and almost felt so silly, just for you to also tear up seconds later lol… art really is the point of it all and kids really are the masters of it 🥹
Bre you're so real for this!! I had a lot of fun making zines in the spring but experienced the burn out you're mentioning! I'm definitely feeling a little lost when trying to pinpoint my niche (comics? illustration? animation?). Overthinking, being a perfectionist, all time + energy that should be spent actually making stuff. I always seem to forget that the whole point of this is to have fun. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as always
Someone else commented on your video - I don't know why I am watching, but I am.. lol for one I feel this,. although I am a creative so that's probably why but still... wanted to drop a line and say - your GORGEOUS. you have such beautiful features... and you just have that vibe to you that makes people wanna watch lol
Thank you! I always get choked up on a blank canvas lol especially white ones so I stumbled on your channel at the perfect time! I made a mini zine about the fool card (tarot) and I loved it so much I’ve just been jotting down all these ideas flooding and making some really cute zines I’m gonna take to pride in October 🎉💜 It can be challenging like you said! I messed up the whole first one i tried to make cause I didn’t fold it right. I ended up cutting out what I liked and pasting it into the new zone and I loved how it turned out!
I’ve been trying to tell myself this advice for ages now and its definitely hard to stick too. I’m working on my own zines and trying to keep the stakes low so the barrier to starting isn’t so intimidating. I recommend if you have things like stickers that go with your zines starting on them first helps with feeling more accomplished too!
I want to tell stories with comic zine. So im practicing drawing digital comics so its easier for me. My only wish is that people enjoy my stories. 😢😢😢
ive been making zines recently just to create instead of being self destructive. i made one which is illustrations of ants, and some with loads of thoughts and doodles. :)
I am new to the zine idea, and I look forward to playing. Could you point me in the direction of creators of zines relating to weaving or spinning, fiber crafts? Thanks in advance!
you just have the best advice & honestly the part about creating like a kid, literally got me to where i am right now... also - the hoes be cryin witchu 👉🏽👈🏽🥺🤎
I cried too ❤ I have been struggling so much internally and feel so alone that I needed to find a way to express myself and heal. I am finally starting zines because of you! 🤎 Thank you!

Jubilee’s Zine about horses was so good. Thank you for sharing. 😊
My pleasure!
I’m obsessed with their zine 🎠
I have so many zine drafts!
They're so helpful for when I'm not sure what to create, I can just grab a draft and off I go

Of course! When I come across some zines like that I’ll let you know (I haven’t seen any yet!) 👌🏽
