Great to get this information out there: there must be a write-up stating the same stuff (even a transcription of this video would do), and the info section needs to link to it, ideally in .pdf format! If you need help with any of that, I'm here and so are other capable people. Hope this issue gets resolved properly; that is, by way of the non-sellout route.
This is very well done. Sounds like there is hope. What more can we do? I'd like to be kept in the loop if there's a rally or .. We have such a beautiful harbour with so much character. The matter of fact tone of the port authority is so offensive.
Here's the skinny - There is NO WAY our business, our family or our employees will remain in Nanaimo IF this type of thing continues to happen. Our CEO's left in 2005 and returned in 2010 to find that music, art, and business development DIED and were utterly ashamed to bring new people, staff and clients to the area. This area is a prize for the city and the general public - Grow up, City. We care about this area, this marina, and this community - Stop rippingthe citizens off. *grin*
This is quite a biased video, that not only unfairly paints the group coming into the Downtown marina, but also characterizes the Nanaimo Port Authority as being of the same ilk as Harbour Authorities. These are not the same things, and the legislation that creates either of those entities explicitly states so. Being involved in your community is great, and you should be commended for that, but spreading falsities isn't so great, and people should search harder for actual truths

I wish this great video included info on how we protest this - to whom do we write letters? The mayor?

Very nicely done Gary.... thank you for this!
Thanks for your emails everyone.
NOTE: The caption for the Nanaimo City Council meeting should read October 15, 2012.
We have succeeded in stopping the privatization of the public marina in Nanaimo. The buyer has backed out due to public pressure.
Good job G Man
