Thanks Andrew! Mike should be the one taking all the credit on delivering all the knowledge on kokanee fishing.

The trout and Kokanee you catch in lakes always seem to have beautiful red flesh. Do those lakes all contain freshwater shrimp? Another great program provided by the fisheries agency in BC!

Yep the colour is mainly due to the scuds in the lake which they feed in. The texture and taste however, are very different between these kokanee and rainbow trout. During this particular trip, we brought home some rainbow trout which had the same bright red flesh colour too, but the kokanee taste way better.

Awesome fish!! You guys don’t use corn or Berkeley maggots?

Sorry, I should have mentioned it in the video, but the bait being added to the hooks were corn. Garlic, tuna, anise flavoured.

Went fishing at Yale lake in Washington this past Saturday for Kokanee. We must have hooked up about 100 fish just to bring in 40 to the boat (four on board at 10 per person). Thanks for the great video! I really enjoy watching and learning from you.

Glad to hear! That's a lot of hookups, awesome. What is the average length of the ones you were getting?

    Those are some red fish.
My uncle used to take me kokanee fishing when I was a kid. We'd troll in a rowboat. I was too young to appreciate how good they tasted.

If you guys hadn’t caught those two kokanee, I just might have had a chance at Sulphurous this past weekend 😂 Alas, it was not to be, but my burbot was delicious 😋
