The IDF are masters at squeezing every bit of operational effectiveness out of their equipment. Other free world nations operating wheeled APC's should keep an eye on how these vehicles are used.
If I hadn't served with pride in the British Army. The only other nations I would consider fighting for are Nepal and Israel. Not necessarily in that order.
I'm an ex- pat live in Israel - you can always visit anyway , I could show you around a couple of armed forces museums containing some VERY familiar gear of British origin that was used by the IDF

Concepts from the MOWAG Piranha have been a revolution game changer over the last few decades! I rode on a Stryker in Iraq and can vounch for the the astounding mobility and survivability of such a system compared to tracked vehicles (like the M113A3 I'd operated out of a few years prior). Be it urban, or open desert plains, such vehicles are certainly an advantage we didn't dream they would be a mere couple of decades ago.
The Swiss, man, those people know how to make military equipment. The SIG 550 is one of the beautifully designed rifle out there.
@@Joshua_N-A Considering the variations of the MOWAG, it literally is a "Swiss Army Knife" armored vehicle! They are quite squared away with their engineering!
Reports suggest that development of wheeled APC doctrine has also been revolutionary, as new tactics are being explored all the time. The limits seem to be the imagination of the field commanders and their ability to pass discoveries back up the chain. It will be interesting to see what new equipment is produced is response to the feedback.
Modularity and in theatre interchangeability has opened up even more imaginative options. UK for example, may have dropped the ball with Ajax and Aries but Boxer is a game changer if it's full potential is realised.
I would prefer a merkava any day.
There's a reason why militaries around the world are scrambling to get these kinds of APCs.

I expected this vehicle to entered service sometime in the future, what I didn't expect was that October 7th would be it's combat debut. Awesome and tragic at the same time.

Actually the thropy system version 2 turns the gun automatically twords the launcher, in tests tanks have fired and destroyed atgm launchers before the missile it self reached the tank. (missiles flies much slower than 120mm shell)

The latest version of the Trophy system can handle kinetic projectiles. Israel has to stay two steps ahead of its enemies in order to survive.

If you lined up the Eitan, the Stryker, Boxer, the Spanish Dragon/Dragoon, the Singaporean Terrex, the Japanese Type 96 Komatsu, and I don't know what else is out there for 8x8 APCs, I honestly would not be able to tell them apart. They all look like they came out of the same factory.

Great video- you got most of it spot on but one thing with importance you got wrong- Eitan will not have trophy aps. It will have the iron fist system by elbit. This system is different and can take out tank rounds unlike the trophy.

IOW, the Israelis figured out something the South Africans were forced to figure out 50 years ago: a wheeled AFV (like the Ratel) can be a game changer. Kudos to both nations for their ingenuity.

Look i dont know about how good these vehicles are in combat, but the Merkava 4 the Namer apc and the Eitan are just the best looking armored vehicles in the world.

One small correction, it uses the Iron First active protection, which is more lightweight, and not the trophy
just shows you its Very Hard to see the FUTURE esp.,when cutting back on your military because of there success seems to often led to conflict. Victim of there own Success.

The Eitan doesn't used Trophy it uses Iron Fist which is another APS.
Exports to other nations should also be considered as one of the main reasons. Licenses or intact built units.
Yes, export versions give the opportunity for funding further R&D of the flexible wheeled concept. Independent of often slow home government procurement processes. Historical example would be Chieftain MBT development for the old Shar of Iran. Leading to Challenger 1 R&D.

Contrary to what this video intents to say, the I.D.F. already had the Achzarit, and Namer personnel carries in their arsenal of vehicles.
They are track vehicles not wheeled

@@CarlosGarcia-fi4yu Wheeled systems have far lower maintenance footprints, operational costs and modern technologies have made the wheels just as good as tracks. Not to mention that today, the area Israel operates in is far more developed and urbanized meaning tracked vehicles are losing their cross country purpose. There are only so many older Merkavas around to convert into Namer APC, they need another vehicle to complement and eventually replace the M113.

@@dannyzero692, I am aware of all that, these wheel vehicles will have a proximal set of operations in an operation. The M113-A2 need to finally be replaced since their range and speed is far lower speed of 45 mph.

The funny thing about Russian army, is that they put trophy like system on their tanks to protect the crew of 3. Yet, they have light armour on their infantry vehicles (BTR's) that have 11+ people in it. After every war, russian casualties are 10+ times higher than their enemies. I mean, if an American soldier throws a grenade, he may end up killing up to 30 million Russians LOL
By the way, the cheapest RPG-7 can pretty much kill entire crew of BTR, the rocketlauncher is widespread and re-usable
Mmm this vehicle to me seems very high and very heavy for a whellwd vehicle: it weight almost twice as much as a full load Centauro without having a turret and a tank sized gun.
It weights more then a full load Leopard 1!

The vehicle itself is of an Irish design with Irish designed systems.
So these are proven technology systems already used in other similar versions built by other companies in other countries.

It does have armor close to a tank armor, that's the Israeli doctrine of war, crew protection is always first.

Personally I think the weight is off in this video by 10t.... typical weight range is 30-35 t for heavy apc.

The merkava being tracked vehicle weighting around 70 tones when fully loaded has 1500 hp engine and its perfectly fine, I don't see why a wheeled vehicle weighting 40 tones couldn't get away with 750hp
It's 30-35 ton, depending on configuration, not 40.
Makes no sense. The profile is high. Easy target. The low profiles of the Russian BMP, and Merkewa, are examples to aspire to.
