You should of course watch the whole video, but if you want to get straight into the second take then jump to 26:00 Then watch the whole video again of course
For a moment towards the end, I became one with the signal! I wandered through the connectors to meet wonderful equipment. The beating of my heart, the flickering lights plunged me into a second state, then I closed my eyes. I don't know when but I finally reached my own ears where I emerged. Awesome performance!
this wall is a beauty just by the looks! seeing you working is very inspiring😎 what a relief that you are also tracing your patch cables back and forth😆
Wow!! That was pretty wild! Kinda blows my mind how you manage to take all these odd and unusual pieces of gear and make some compelling music out of them. Fascinating to watch you do this live.thanks for the cool music, and I look forward to the next sonic expedition !
i have a hard enough time remembering to get my field recorder levels right when I have a good jam going. awesome job setting up and explaining all this
Just downloaded the beautiful track at the end of your video & yes put it through the GarageBand then added some reverb & added atmosphere to the track! 🙂🙂 As I was listening to the song & it ever took the anxiety away, felt a sense of relaxation after finishing listening to the tune! 🙂🙂 Great through the headphones! 🙂🙂🎧🎧 Loving the videos you release! 😊😊
Dude! There’s no one like you!! If you could just bottle and sell your joy for what you do, we would all get in line to buy as many jars of joy as we could get!!! Please... when this becomes a reality... hold my place in front of the Q. Funny thing is... I can watch for the gear alone. The sweet sounds are a bonus! Gear heads can just be staring at the mic on the arm and tripping on what it is and where you got it... cuz I know you get some insanely awesome mics. “One of these must be doing this” Is my new band name... Thank you for the great video.
Nice one ! I like the speed of this kind. It’s like starting my modular. Which is more growing organic thing over time, and not a new start every time. But I believe that this listen back to your patch makes. your ears get in sync with the spirit of you playing. And folowing your Patch Kabels again and findings your connections is „ haptic feedback goes a special way to your feelings „ And all the mistakes you learn to love as the language of the MUSE. So this speed is more familiar. Still I i like the more composed videos; but this kind fells so friendly normal
Really cool, I would love to hear that kind of equipment in person. I wish you would do a detailed video on the power consumption needed for something like this.
Love your videos because of the creativity and fun... you are a true artist. Also, this made me realize an use for my old cassete deck AND a Sanyo dictaphone with normal cassete i got here! If it wasn't for your video on dictaphones it would still be in a box lost somewhere in time and space.. haha! Keep the good artworks and music going!! Thanks
Just went through the video, very inspiring stuff! A great example on how restrictions drive creativity. Fantastic work. Love those Hedd headphones btw 🙂
This is brilliant. Makes me wanna buy lots of test equipment. Unfortunately I can't as I hold a few unfinished project's 😁 love the the over driven distorted sound's. My music creations are now pocket based. Thank you Sir have a great day. Peace from London ✌ ☮ 🕊
The beaty of this onknown word generator made me buy a Wavetek model 171 oszilator because it had such a nice number dial. And later found out that i can set the exact frequency by a manual switch.
Hi hainbach, thoroughly enjoyed watching this, very interesting to see how it comes together from chaos into a groove. At 15:26 you tweak something which i think is an aux send, it gives the synth a real nice wide stereo delay / ping pong, i wondered what effect that is going to ? Or if any other nerds reading this can recommend a nice stereo delay pedal please chime in, i really want something nice like that for widening mono tape loops. Thanks
great sound design as always. I don't know if it's the specific character of these devices or your ear, but you always seem to employ individual sounds that are instantly compelling.
I really search for those in everything I play - in scoring I often have to tell a whole story with just a few notes, so sound helps in getting the emotions across
Was ich damit sagen will: you friggen rock, dude. I admire your work
Hi Mr. Hainbach - i'm very impressed of what you're able to get out of those vintage instruments - if I'd known this before as a hobby musician...i only used to be a member of a store in germany where we sold almost all of those nice test equipment instruments I recognize in your wall and other videos, made by Bruel&Kjaer, Krohn Hite, Hewlett Packard, Tektronix, Wavetek, Marconi, Honeyewell, Rohde&Schwarz, Grundig, Philips and those great industries...but wait, that's not "trash", this instruments still live in a lot of universities, laboratories and private freaks :-)))
It looks like the ergonomics of the setup leave a bit to be desired. But at least you can stretch between the oscillator and filter to reach both simultaneously?
Woher hast du das Know-How?
Hi hainbach, How do you get all the impulse generator synchronized? It seems like everyone should have an unique period and so an unique beat tempo and pattern. Are they all tunable perhaps? Cheers
It’s not that bad - I only turn it on when I work with it, the whole studio is setup so every part is on only when I need it. Look mum made a good video on that btw
By the Way, schon ordentlich fett was du da so auf die Beine stellst, respekt...
I suppose you don't get much of ground shifting, or worried about big trucks rumbling by. Standing next to your leaning tower of electronic, got me concerned about your well being ;-)
You should of course watch the whole video, but if you want to get straight into the second take then jump to 26:00

This is actually patch from scratch, unedited. Great to see the entire process with commentary and internal conversation.
go to 24:27 if you want to see hainbach dancing while saying "i like this, i'm a train"
i have never seen him dance before
Thank you. I'm going to return to this when I need a pick-me-up.
I think it's time for a "Half Speed = Best Speed" t-shirt. :D
Just made a dad hat, for the big video with Simon.
Been enjoying your test equipment videos a great deal. Thank you so much for documenting your process!

Awesome performance!
Sounds so good, it's obvious that some weird test equipment is nice for making drone or ambient. I always wondered how vhs or dvr static sounds
this wall is a beauty just by the looks! seeing you working is very inspiring😎 what a relief that you are also tracing your patch cables back and forth😆
I love the way all these random noises suddenly coalesce into a groove
1:36 "Already nice", "A lot of stuff". These are the two phrases we all strive for in our studios.
This turns into a VERY crunchy jam, I looovvvveeeee your kicks!
Hainbach, this makes me so happy to watch. Thanks for all you do!

great to see your 'process', its a very individual thing
Lovely sounds! Smashing work Hainbach!
This is amazing, never experienced slipping in and out of beats like that. It's like looking up from a thought and realizing you have shifted worlds.
Great to see you back Hainbach, good analog sounds are there !!! . Greetings from Argentina !!

Thank you for the great video.
Theres a moment around 9.40 where you stop and take a drink. That frame needs to be made into a mock cover of 'Test Equipment Monthly'
Every pure analog sounds ease my mind,
thank you for sharing this nice video🙏

Thanks a lot Mr. Hainbah for that walkthrough patching experience! Pretty cool format btw, usefull and inspiring

if eurorack is like programing in c# this is like assembly
more like punch cards
Seriously!
Assembly with audible feedback however, so you know when you got somthing good
This is just what i’ve been wanting too! Thanks!
Beautiful stuff... this seems to the kind of equipment that Stockhausen was using x inspiring x
Wow this is amazing, those sounds are like nothing I have heard before!
Just went through the video, very inspiring stuff! A great example on how restrictions drive creativity. Fantastic work. Love those Hedd headphones btw 🙂
Just started a course and saw a aux output on these and that was my first thought

Goosebumps at 29:00
18:54 when your mic is trying to suicide but YOU DONT DROP NOW HERE
The video we all needed
The beaty of this onknown word generator made me buy a Wavetek model 171 oszilator because it had such a nice number dial. And later found out that i can set the exact frequency by a manual switch.
I need this as a track. Love it
It is on patreon.com/hainbach, with 120 more tracks from the past videos.

I feel like a collab or split with Colin Benders would be nice for this more aggressive stuff of yours. :)

That is the Strymon Timeline, I keep it exactly for that wide ping pong. Very useful.
You become a dancing gnoom next to this giant robotic wall. At least your camcorder sees it so. Enjoyed the piece a lot!
This is beautiful!
Thats great! Das Video kommt sehr gelegen. Because me and by friend are visiting the Twee Studious on 6 Oktober :)
Cool stuff! I think a distortion unit would have been awesome. Just to crunch it up a bit more 😁
Programmierbarer Impulsgenerator - schönes Wort.
i really like to have a poster of the video's vignette, you' pretty much catched the feeling i have in front of my synths sometimes :p

This is lovely
that was a wonderful video thank you for sharing !!
When are we getting a Hainback hair and skincare routine video??
You should do an Against the Clock video.
Then I got to up my speed a bit :-)
yeah then everyone in the comments could cry about how much better they could do in Ableton. honestly those videos got very toxic
So good!!!
13:30 COOL SOUND

I can Image how hot this rig gets. Like a giant radiator 😂 expensive*
Loved it thank you
I´m very impressed
It looks like the ergonomics of the setup leave a bit to be desired. But at least you can stretch between the oscillator and filter to reach both simultaneously?
Oh I stretch and duck a lot. Very healthy workout.
@@Hainbach Music: The hobby that also keeps you fit.
This musical instrument sounds like math.
And I love math.
Awesome sounds! What are those mini mixers you're using?
Omnitronic, they are cheap and work
'whoooaw....cool sound' ...yep.

In UA-cam you can change the velocity of the whole track 🤓🖖🏼

Clock ins or trigger ins present on all
I wish that I wish rich like you and could afford all that studio gear plus the studio to put it in.
Rich I ain’t - this is this the result of 25 years investing only in the tools of my craft. They paid themselves back in the process.
What has the wall of text equipment done to your electricity bill?
And if it is hot I guess it might save on your heating. 😂
It’s not that bad - I only turn it on when I work with it, the whole studio is setup so every part is on only when I need it. Look mum made a good video on that btw

dont u ever wory ur pulling a cable from on of those wallflowers and the whole thing comes collapsing down on you ? some of that stuff is really heavy
Lovely :)
Did you ever listen to groups like "coil" or "nurse with wound"?
Coil yes!
@@Hainbach Awesome! I'm a die-hard fan myself. "Worship the glitch" and "gold is the metal" are 2 of my favorites!

I’m too distracted by your Soviet robot headphones
fuckin awesome
