Breakers miss the variation (1 per box, I believe) all of the time. Every breaker should check the back of each card for every pack (this year the notes are in the card number box).
Variations like Throwbacks can be missed when all breakers are looking for is an auto. Heritage is a different animal. Breakers should know this by now.
Especially important for breakers who don't ship base. Though I personally would never enter a break where the breaker keeps all the base or it goes in one lot. If I buy a team, I want all the cards from that team.
Wow - now $103 per box. I have collected baseball cards since 1981 and this will probably be the last year I collect because the cost keeps going up and the taxes keep going up and the income keeps going down. Might as well throw all my cards in the trash.
The Blue Jays and Mariners first MLB season was 1977.
These are always fun until you try to put a set together. I think that Elly might be an SP.
One thing about this set this year that's a pain is that the SSP Variations are not flipped upside down this season.
Stryer Breaks pulled an Acuna color swap and it was faced up normally. He also got a Gold Relic /99 and an autograph Mike Schmidt Box Top card. Incredible video.

I think the Elly in the first box was a color swap variation
The Base 473 Elly De La Cruz is Red Top and Yellow Bottom. You’re probably right on the Color Swap - but wish he would confirm or update the Variation Type.

I don’t think the pitch clock is necessarily to blame solely. I think the emphasis on trying to throw as hard and fast as humanly possible combined with trying to increase the spin rate is the biggest factor. Pitchers are already throwing unnaturally and those two factors make that even worse. The pitch clock only exacerbates the issue. You didn’t see the elbow problems nearly this bad prior to the 2000s and games moved along speedily back then.
I agree with you, everyone loves a high scoring game- not a blow out a high scoring game. So to change the game for the safety of the game why not limit each type of pitch per game. So only 9 fast balls per inning or something like that. Then a perfect game is still possible but it would generally create a more interesting game and safer too I think
You missed a sp. It came right after the numbered chrome and you set it on the right side.

75 thru 78 are when I started collecting, so I’ve been looking forward to this release for a few years.
I love these cards and would buy 50 boxes of them for the bubblegum and have a big wad of gum in my mouth just like I did as a kid ! I bought boxes and boxes of the 1975 OPC baseball and got damn near a set which I filled out at various card shows back in the early 90's !! 😍
auto odds are the same as last year, 1 in 5 boxes. the price of these will come way down
1975 Topps is my all time favorite design. Followed by 1987 Donruss.

2022 heritage high number (Witt JROD) hobbies are $50…get 2 of those instead
The checklist is awesome, but the QC is horrendous. It is virtually impossible to get a centered card from the set, especially if it's a chrome. I think that's why the price is so low.
@@DomBroda ya that’s fair I’ve had some decent luck to this point but my last chrome card was a doozie with the QC
Relic to auto breakdown on 3 cases so far is 10 relics vs 2 autos. Also so far it’s 1 base set per case 🙄 I’m not sure what’s going on

The Matt Manning number 14 of the set. So it was one of the short prints. You didnt show the number on the Adam Frazier but it bet it was also upside down because it too is a short print.

4:56 um......what an error card! I see Fanatics is doing a great job.
Bought a box yesterday at my local LCS and was pretty underwhelmed. Got an Ohtani base and a Goldschmidt /999 chrome, a few SP's... no auto - just an unexciting relic card. No Elly.
PS - the SP's are differentiated by a matte surface, from what I could see.
14:55 I was thinking the same thing. The backs of the cards are so dark and illegible they look like they have that "wax stained" effect. I don't get it.

You are correct. I thought it was, but @jabs made me doubt myself. I knew 77 was for sure the 1st year of Blue Jays and Mariner cards.

I bought a blaster yesterday at Target and it was $24.99. Pulled a white border Elly from it, too.
Out of dozens of blasters last year of 2023 Heritage not one single hit. Base set is too large to try and complete. To me it’s sort of a bust product.
