Every bit a 4/0 Senator minus the top cross-post, sweet mirror chrome looking bridge, bet the whole reel would clean up nicely. Thanks for the peek inside.
Bronson made a lot of the fresh water versions, both under their name and as trade reels under various resellers like Sears and Wards. It was less common to see the salt water versions - Dennis
Hi Dennis, This reel video was like opening up a box of dark chocolate on Christmas morning ! Nice, well made quality internals on the bridge that have withstood the test of time !! Best Regards, Cons
@ you are very welcome. As you already know i love old reels and how they work. Have you ever heard of or seen an A.F. Meisselbach MFG CO. conventional round reel before. It has that info above on the bottom of the foot. it also has Elvria,O,USA 300 yards on the bottom of the foot. On top of the foot it has 006177. There are no other markings on the reel. I will send you pictures of it via email here in a bit
I have several Meisselbach reels. The most common is the Tripart reel. The company was founded in the 1880s in Newark, NJ. When the founders died in the 1920s, production was moved to Ohio, which is where your reel was made. The company continued to make reels until their plants were converted to war time production during World War Two. Reel production did not resume after the war. So your reel was made been 1927 and 1940 - Dennis
That Sea-Wolf looked quite well made Dennis. Cleaned up beautifully….always makes me sad to see a manufacturing company going under. Kinda clever and innovative design from a knuckle buster era ?
What a fascinating reel! I know nothing about reels like this but I do love to see them. Great video Dennis! - Chris
These are fun to take apart and learn about - I was really surprised to find this was made in the 1930s

Yes, they are very similar - but with some unique details that make them special. Thanks for the note and for watching - Dennis
That looks well made...all that Purdy stainless steel
Sure is!
I really don’t know anything about this Reel, it seems to be a well made Reel but I do like the Bronson Freshwater versions . Interesting video !
