Every time I see a Kia Stinger on the road, it just puts a smile on my face knowing that that the person who bought it knew all along that it is a beast in sheep clothing. The fact that it is pretty much like an Audi A7 is a bonus as I too am a fan of the A7. Power, AWD, oh wow, something to think about for my next car! Oh, and Andrea cannot hide the fact that she loves anything with POWER! Zack always has to calm her down and to take it easy, LOL! You two ROCK! Killing it with smooth segues, I must say! Very happy watching steady rise in Subscriber's count, but I sure hope you get more!

Exactly - your point about smiling while knowing the person who bought it knew their stuff. I thought the same everytime I saw one on the road (before we bought ours). I always considered our Optima EX quite quick - but when the Stinger 3.3L TT AWD came out and we test drove one...I started countin' the days until we traded up to the Stinger. We've now owned six Kias over the years (Rio, Forte, Sedona, Sorento, Optima...and now a Stinger) - so we've watched Kia's progression with huge smiles on our faces. As a 56yr old car guy, I love the idea of pullin' alongside a Mustang GT or Audi at the light...and quietly sayin' under my breath - good luck, lol.

Lets not get carried away here
Its nowhere near an Audi A7 in anything
But yes, it obviously took inspiration from the A7 in its exterior and interior

    • @khronin

@@joecool9739 The standard A7 can sprint from zero to 60 mph in 5.2 seconds. Its turbocharged V6 engine feels brawny, eagerly shuttles the A7 up to speed, and is complemented by a refined seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission that fires off quick yet smooth shifts. The Stinger is faster then an A7 which costs more then double a stinger--to beat a stinger in the 7 series from Audi you have to put almost 100k or more down.

Kia has really become much more reliable and desirable than in the past . For example, a used Telluride often sells for more than original msrp! Kia”s great value and superior warranty are indicators that Stinger should have excellent resale value too.

When I bought my first KIA in 2010 their slogan was “Power to surprise” and the value for my money was what sold me. But the long term reliability and dealer service lead to me buying our second KIA. Love their products and this Stinger looks great especially from the back. The suede interior is a show stopper! Thanks for your review.

He’s backkkk ..... ;-) Zack & Andrea one of the MOST important omissions from your reviews (and pretty well all auto reviewers) is no mention of car warranties, especially when you bring up competitive auto brands... with Kia having 5 year 100,000km warranty that outshines upscale German brands. When people purchase vehicles, warranties are in top 5 factors in purchasing (my guess). We purchased my wife’s Hyundai Tuscon knowing it would be a long term purchase, thus warranty made a big difference in our car buying choices. Great videos looking forward to new ones you are creating.

These KIA Stingers certainly stand out. I think they look awesome. But just imagine how epic this vehicle would be ... if it were an Estate (a station wagon)! There would basically be ZERO competition under $75 grand (MB E-class wagons). Still... as it is... it still remains a head turner. Especially with that interior and at that price point. I expect it to do very well, for KIA. Thanks for the video. I always enjoy y'all's reviews; and as a side note-watching one episode, you guys turned me on to watching Kim's Convenience haha (I'm in the States), so THANK YOU for that....great show.
I had leased the GT-2 when the Stinger came out in 2018, I had it for a year. Great engine and fun but the fuel economy and high insurance was getting to me. When that lease was over I opted to buy a 2020 GT-Line (which you guys don't get)-it has the 255hp engine but the LOOKS (most important!) are the same. I guess I'm a 1%'er in that regard but it's more than adequate for my needs and still is fun to drive.

In 2019 I was comparing G70 and Stinger and wanted to go Stinger but back then the Genesis was priced better in the high end and overall lease rates and the like we're much better on Genesis. Agree the Stinger is a fantastic car but I went with G70 because to match payments with the concierge service it would have meant dropping down a level on Stinger.
I love my G70 but glad to see they're working on being even more competitive with the Stinger pricing.
Really like the new logo, and man that interior is really pimp!

I agree with you guys. Minor but Spot On changes make this car look better. If they could only get rid of the boy racer details as the fake hood vents and the ones behind the front wheels, if they are fake, and the unnecessarily large exhaust tips (they are already dual for God sake!), it would make for a much more sophisticated long-lasting look, which would make Auidi and BMW potential buyers pass over the none premium logo.
    Fine review as always.
Best wishes for you and all of your viewers.

Awesome review. I bought a new 2018 GT (Canadian), it has been a great, very reliable daily driver. It is 85% as good as an S5 (and bigger) for 60% of it's price (In Canada I paid $40K CDN and a S5 would have been at least $70K CDN).
I like the new infotainment, kinda like the rear lights, not sure about tail pipes and wheels. The front new Kia logo is better, but in back it is too big and looks to be a different metal and finish to the other badges back there and it looks odd. The big "Stinger" script on US cars looks better (I have changed mine to that too.) Overall the changes are not a big enough reason to upgrade just yet.
Glad the Stinger put a smile on your faces like it does mine everyday. Keep up the great work.

Great review Andrea and Zack - you are a great couple! Am seriously considering the Stinger GT2 here in the US. I am also looking BMW/ Mercedes but cannot see paying almost the same $ for one of their turbo 4's and fake leather! Based on what I've seen from Kia lately, the company is ascending in terms of product (Telluride and Sorento), quality (JD Power) and image (new badge and auto press). The only downside I see is maybe the dealership experience but that probably varies. Thanks for the review and keep 'em coming!

in 2019 I traded in my 2017 M-B E400 Coupe for a Stinger GT2. I never had a single "problem" with the GT2. In 2022 I traded the 2019 Stinger for another 2022 Stinger. Prior to the 2017 E-Class I had a 2015 BMW 5 Series M-Sport . . . before that another M-B. The M-B & BMW care were all great, but I like the stinger more and not just the fact that Stingers are are $20K less, but still more fun. I do however, very much miss the "dealer experience"-- but the oil changes are a LOT less expensive.

I can say , as a previous owner of a stinger a great car and was super fun. My comment where the Germans differ, is really the dealership experience. That was the main reason I left the Kia even though was a great car. Everytime I went in for service your getting the same service as if you were driving a Forte. Outside of that I can truly say it is a excellent car.

Very interesting review, guys. Viewed from here in the US I noticed a couple of points.
() When the Stinger was introduced several years ago it generated lots of plaudits from reviewers. Unfortunately for KIA, however, its sales have never matched those positive reviews. There are several reasons but among the most important was a factor that you cited about the base version with the 2.0L turbo engine, the model that should have been the Stinger's volume seller. Instead, Its sales were dismal in the US just as they were in Canada. To remedy that in the US KIA is offering the GT-Line model with the new 2.5L turbo engine that KIA, Hyundai, and Genesis are deploying in at least 7 different vehicles as either a standard or optional powerplant. As you noted, that model isn't available in Canada and having driven both the GT-Line and the big brother GT1 with its twin turbo 3.3L V6, in my opinion that's a shame. It's a vast improvement in both performance and fuel economy over the previous 2.0L engine. And while the GT1 offers neck snapping acceleration (0-60 in about 4.7 seconds) the GT-Line does that job in about 5.2 seconds with more linear power delivery and a 231 lb weight savings,, virtually all of it over the front wheels. No question that the twin turbo version of the Stinger is an impressive vehicle, just as it has been since the vehicle was introduced. But the GT-Line with its new 4 cylinder engine is an impressive "grand touring" sedan in its own right.
() Speaking of a "grand touring" sedan, kudos for putting the Stinger in its appropriate category. Many North American consumers don't understand the designation "GT" as it's applied in Europe. It's not a two door coupe with a V8 engine (e.g. a Mustang) and it's not a "sports sedan" exemplified by the 3-series BMW. It's a midsize 4 door sedan designed to carry 4-5 passengers in comfort at speeds over 100 mph over well maintained European highways and navigating European backroads originally laid down by the Romans two millennia ago or narrow urban streets in European cities. Understood in those terms, the Stinger is an impressive vehicle in with either its 4 cylinder or its V6 engine.
() As noted above I've recently driven both the GT-Line and GT1 Stingers and found each to be a bargain compared to the competition. The GT1 arguably falls a bit short of European vehicles from Audi, BMW, and MB but at a price point that is very, very appealing. The GT-Line offers even greater savings. In that case, the most appropriate rival is the VW Arteon. As an owner of both a KIA (Sorento) and a VW (GTI), I'm undecided between them.
() Again, thanks for the review, folks. It's always great to hear a Canadian perspective on vehicles we share and the differences between the ones available in both countries. I have to say that KIA has done Canadians a favor in outfitting the highest trim Stingers while offering Americans a base version that Canadians unfortunately don't have a chance to purchase.

Great reply! I currently own a 21 A35. I cross shopped and briefly looked at the GT2. If they would of offered the suede dash and bits like the CN version, I’d probably have picked it over the A35. I love my A35, which was priced with four options and 47.4 OTD, but in a couple years I’ll def be looking at the GT2 hard. My biggest complaint is the hood, need to make them vents functional or get rid of them.

I'm going to buy one this year with the suede package here in Canada. I don't know why but we Canadian get the best deal with unbeatable price. I've researched almost all competitors in similar class and those cost at least 6-7k or even more...
btw, I'm not a badge snobber and I only want best bang for the buck, so I'll drive my stinger happily everyday and the others can laugh all they want while they drown themselves in debt.

The last one didn't sell well because it wasnt optioned right and was underpowered. The new 2.5t has got a good amount of power and is more nimble and handles well with it being a lot lighter.

Apologies, if this is a repeat. The relatively better Canadian price is likely compensation for the Canadian warranty being 5 years when the US gets 10 years. Still, a hell of a deal for a great car.

I liked the ruby red seat belts for a second and then suddenly they looked like ribbons. I wouldn't want to resemble a present as I'm driving. I don't understand suede in a car. Unlike leather, which gets softer and richer from oils from the hand, suede stains. That might look cool on a jacket, but not a car interior. Otherwise, I love this car! I might someday like to have a sporty second car and this should be on my list. By the way, your region is very beautiful! I love seeing the streetscapes as you drive along. Andrea, jerking? Besides missing this video the first time (?) I really enjoyed this video. I’ve driven the 2.5 and the 3.3 in AWD and the 2.5 is surprisingly good. It’s quick off the line but the 3.3 has more guts in the midrange to top end. If I were in the market here in the US, I’d go for the 2.5 AWD fully loaded for under $45,000 US. I think the Stinger with either engine is a bargain. It’s a shame that Kia might cancel Stinger after the 22 model.

I’d also like to know...How is the perceived build quality and handling vs the German rivals (which I know feel very solid)?

The price difference is partly in the warranty. Canada = 5 years 100,000km The US is 10 years 100,000 MILES! Still, perhaps you can buy an extended warranty through Kia Canada to bridge the gap. With all of Kia's engine recalls over the last few years - it would be good to get a warranty (but then that is true for all the German cars as well).

Yes, absolutely, it's a great comparison. I guess we just picked cars with the more powerful engine. But in the US, you can get the turbocharged 4-cylinder so we should have considered it. Thanks for sharing!
