    Yay... another good review on this one is what I needed. How would you compare this to the id14 or the Evo 16 that you reviewed? Seems like DSP and all that software interface is what sets it apart.

    • @EdThorne
      @EdThorne  Рік тому +1

      Thanks 🙂🙏 The Connect 6 has all the I/O and monitor routing the iD and Evo has - and then some with the mobile device connectivity. The auto gain works like the Evo’s Smart gain, and just as well as far as I can tell. It’s hard to tell the preamps apart but this may make for a good video… It’s definitely the most competitive two channel interface under £255/$299!

    Hi. Nice review (and nice song, by the way). In spite of you mentioning Lewitt did not fine tune the Connect6 for the instrument inputs -- I guess they forgot to tell me about that -- and because the inputs on the Control software mention Instrument, I used it with a passive bass -- a 64 Hofner violin bass -- and a 69 Telecaster. Both of them with great results. In fact I had to turn the bass gain quite down to avoid overloading the input. This was simply through a high quality TS jack to TS jack cable. I also used the outputs of an H9, into the jack inputs, non balanced with similar results.

    • @EdThorne
      @EdThorne  Рік тому

      Thanks. That’s not quite what I said, though. I said Lewitt didn’t integrate a Hi-Z (high impedance) circuit. The line-ins will still work for for active instruments. The lower impedance of these inputs is why you’ve had to gain down heavily.

    Is this faster than the original babyface or the motu m4 in terms of latency? Can you load a lot of VSTs to record audio without too much delay? How is the noise floor compared to that?
    I also have the audient evo 4 but it’s not good enough i think

    Great review as always. I can't decide between focusrite 2i2 gen3 and volt 2. However, if I can increase my budget a little more, I'm stuck between lewitt connect 6, ssl 2+ 2 and audient id14 mk2. What would your options be for both of these situations? Is 96khz feature a noticeable disadvantage for ID14 and lewitt connect 6 because others are 192khz.

    • @EdThorne
      @EdThorne  9 місяців тому

      Hi there. Thanks. The 96k limitation on the Audient’s is not a problem. I’d suggest the Volt 276 if you want a compressor or the iD series if you want more monitor control (with the iD App)

    • @oguzcanegeoguz13
      @oguzcanegeoguz13 9 місяців тому

      First of all, many thanks. It's been a long time since the video was posted, but you're still trying to help. I don't have money to buy a monitor right now. I will get it later. I really like the headphone part and features of the ID14MK2. It's a pity that there is no keyboard input but I plan to go with a midi keyboard so it's not a big deal. The ID14MK2 might sound a bit more appealing now that it's on sale. Others are 1.5 times more expensive (they are not on sale) and I can buy my microphone for that price difference.

    Great review as always... New at this and I'm just confused regarding the need of a DI box to record guitar. My main use for this would be to record electric guitar, acoustic guitar and vocals. Seems perfect for the latter two but maybe not for the electric guitar. Am I missing something... or rather, what am I missing regarding the "no Hi-Z"?
    I'm debating between this Lewitt, the Audient ID14 or 24 and the AUD Volt 276. I had actually purchased the Apollo Twin but returned it because it was way beyond my abilities... to say nothing of the cost.
    Many thanks.
    PS. Really sad about the no right handed version. 😉

    • @EdThorne
      @EdThorne  Рік тому

      Haha, you really did pay attention watching this, thanks.
      The Hi-Z is for high impedance inputs, such as electric guitars/electric basses. A DI box will do what a hi-Z does which is to step the input level down to line-level, which your preamp needs. Just as a preamp boosts a weak signal up to line-level, a DI/Hi-Z trims hot signals down to line-level. This will only matter if you’re plugging in guitars directly. Microphones and most DI’d acoustics won’t need this.

    I own the microphone from Lewitt LCT 440 Pure and iD4 Audient and I don't know what to choose between Connect 6 and iD14 mk2 Audient like upgrade mine. I really like both of them and i intend to buy one! Do you think is an upgrade like latency,sound quality/converters? I just need good quality recording and to record Auto-Tune in real time with low latency. Do u think I need a dsp audio interface like Apollo or Antelope with internal effects or the new one audio interfaces will be enough? Thanks a lot Ed!

    • @EdThorne
      @EdThorne  Рік тому +1

      I’ll be honest, if you can afford an Apollo Twin (or above) - buy one! Their DSP is far more advanced. BUT if your budget is between this and an iD14mkii…. I’m leaning towards the Connect 6 because the EQ and compression is so flexible! The Audient pres are definitely more coloured with a fuller sounding low end if you want that sound.

    This feels like it's playing right in the same ballpark as the Presonus Revelator io24 - the Lewitt has a lot more input options, but the Revelator has a few more built-in effects options and (at least right now) is half the price. @@Superdelphinus for a real time speaker for sure you need a pretty compression. But recording a vocal for a music track is different. When compressing previously , then you destroy the ability to perfectly fit the voice into the mix. There is no reason to compress before recording in a recording studio. 48/44khz and 24bit are noiseless enough to record the dynamic range with a condenser mic. You tubers need soft cliping/ limiting instead of compression much more. As I say this device is for mixers, interviewers, moderators or you tubers.
