    06:10 I have been clicking around so many different tutorials for uploading your own editable designs to Canva for so long trying to figure out what I was doing wrong. Yours was the first to mention to the stroke to fill requirement! As a 100% self taught artist I know there’s a lot of little tidbits that I’m missing out on and it’s so frustrating when I can’t find these finicky little details that everyone assumes everyone already knows. Thank you so much for making an actually accessible tutorial!

    Thank you for the tutorial! We have a few clients that use Canva for small marketing projects and this will give them the freedom to apply brand colors to the logos & elements we design for them. Super helpful. 🙌

    I made an SVG file from the samsung app called Concepts and exported it as SVG of course. But when I uploaded it to Canva, I still wasn't able to change the color of it. Am I missing something?

    • @boldaugustdesigns
      @boldaugustdesigns  Рік тому +1

      Hi there! I'm not sure what Concepts is and I don't have Samsung so I can't replicate it. SVGs have to be a max of 5 colors, no fonts or strokes, and also no clipping masks!

    Instructions start at 6:12. I have got my vector art but it didn't come into canva as editable colours. My illustrator file is grouped and outlined vector art. What am i doing wrong?

      Howdy - without seeing it, unsure, but some tips: Did you check that you only have 5 colors in your graphic? (It's limited and I don't know if I say that in the video) Did you refresh the page to see if they pop up? Are there fonts not outlined in addition to strokes? Typically those are the only restrictions.

    Loved your clear explanation. Super easy to follow, thank you! My one hiccup unfortunately is that once the svg element is uploaded to canva, it only allows you to edit one colour of the element (converts it to one solid colour instead of multiple colours). For reference, there is no text or strokes (strokes were converted to compound paths) with main shapes as paths. Have tried variations of one, two, and four colours. Elements are grouped and even tried grouping main shapes as one compound path with element group since they are the same colour. Nothing has worked to keep multiple colours editable within canva. Once I've uploaded, I can only edit one colour so it converts element to solid colour. I also tried uploading in a different document in case that was an issue. Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

    Strangely, if I upload .svg from within one of my designs, it does not work -- it makes the file all one color. But if I upload into the project folder / brand kit, it does.

    I spent way too much time today trying to figure out exactly this!!! I'm a super newbie when it comes to design. Thank you!!! Any chance you can point me in the direction of figuring out how to design seamless patterns... I know how to make the patterns, I just don't know what size to make it so when I drop it into a design, it scales to the size of the design without me having to stretch it making the pattern bigger than I want it. I hope that makes sense. I'm just learning about px and dpi, and I'm sure it has something to do with that. When I purchase digital backgrounds or digital paper, sometimes it does exactly what I want it to do, and other times it comes into my design as a smaller image which I have to stretch make the scale way too big. Did any of that make sense? Anyway, thank you for saving me precious time. I truly appreciate your time.

    • @boldaugustdesigns
      @boldaugustdesigns  2 роки тому

      Hi there! That's actually a big question, a bit too big for a UA-cam comment! Unfortunately Canva at this time is not really going to be your best bet for a seamless pattern. Try looking at Adobe Illustrator tutorials as that will be a better fit for that! Then when you're done with your pattern, you can save it as a JPG or PNG and upload to Canva as a completed file.

    • @nataliebadolato2981
      @nataliebadolato2981 2 роки тому

      @@boldaugustdesigns I’m sorry!!! I’ve watched so many UA-cam videos but am not finding what I’m looking for. Your video was so helpful, I thought you might know the answer. I make my patterns in Procreate. I guess I’m just struggling with what size to make them so I don’t have that scaling issue when I use them in Canva. Thank you for the response.

      @@nataliebadolato2981 No worries! reading this again, it actually seems like something you'd want to talk to someone about because I'm thinking your question has to do with file types, scaling, etc. I do offer Power Hours on my website. Otherwise, I'll try to make Canva Pattern creation a future video! That could be cool!

    So if you have a font in Illustrator and turn it into outlines or expand it, it still wont work in Canva to change the colors?

    • @boldaugustdesigns
      @boldaugustdesigns  Рік тому

      Great question - you totally will be able to change! Once you change to outlines, it's no longer a font and a shape. As long as it's got no borders (or outlined borders), only 5 colors, and no fonts, you should be good to go.
