We've driven 2 previous model years of the GMC Sierra Denali, including the previous generation 2018, and the new generation 2019. Since then GM has added a couple features and option changes, but the truck itself has remained pretty much unchanged going into it's third model year on this new generation. Our Spotlight is on this 2021 GMC Sierra 1500 Denali 4WD finished in Onyx Black with several options we haven't tested before. Typically on TestDrive we just go over the changes from previous episodes, and while we invite you to watch our previous review on this truck we do spend more time on this episode for those who want the complete picture on this 1/2 tonne truck.
We go over the mechanical information such as the 6.2L V8 engine, 10-speed automatic transmission, 4WD system, and the lack of GM's Magnetic Ride Control found on the previous generation. We also discuss the exterior styling of the GMC Sierra Denali including the MultiPro tailgate, and two optional features on ours including the MultiPro Tailgate Lights, and MultiPro Audio System by Kicker. The latter adds two LED lights to the lower portion of the step for better nighttime visibility, while the audio system features a two-speaker, 100W audio system independent from the car's main Bose system, with Bluetooth connectivity, USB, and 3.5mm inputs.
We discuss the interior design and setup on the Sierra Denali including the bed view camera added on the 2020 model year truck, and the new wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto fetures for this year. Aside from that we have a unique Denali colour-scheme on the inside with the same features we've seen before, like the 15" colour head up display, 8" infotainment system, dual zone automatic climate control, ventilated and heated front seats, heated outboard rear seats, power moonroof, video rearview mirror, 360º cameras, power folding mirrors, and remote starter.
We take the 2021 GMC Sierra Denali 4WD on a real world road test to talk about how this truck performs, drives, handles, and rides. We discuss our fuel economy test results and how they compare to two years ago, and how they compare to the other 6.2L V8 GM vehicle we drove, the 2021 GMC Yukon Denali. We discuss our overall impressions of this truck and some of the reasons you might want to consider this one for your next purchase.

Beautiful truck. And best engines. And what a exhaust noise, magnificent. You look great driving it and should be your next ride 😁. For me I can’t get past ride and interior, so for me it’ll be F150 or Ram. Still a gorgeous outside truck.

Interior needs serious work, but I do like the exterior!

I'd like to see the new infotainment and dashboard set up from the current model Yukon / Tahoe transferred here the screen looks tiny compared to what Ram and Ford have but I love the overall look and design of the Sierra 👌🏽👍🏼 nice review mate

Usually GM options different rims on these vehicles, there are a number to choose from as an option, plus as you mentioned the aftermarket has a lot of choice too.

0-60…5.4 seconds. He says it’s slow off the line… 🤦🏽‍♂️ SMH.

The design is so ostentatious. It’s looks like a gargantuan mistake with all the chrome on the grille and door handles

Ha Ha. Ram guy?? Ram sucks. Resale also still sucks. Denali is king of the road.

I don't disagree with the 2022.5 update for the Sierra. The new Denali Ultimate is the nicest truck money can buy, just took GM a few years to make it so.
