The thunder cloud thing is really interesting because the Mario Kart version first appeared not in Wii, but in Arcade GP, which was developed by Namco! It’s like they wanted to make the item more Mario-style for that game, and then it was adopted directly into Wii
I heavily disagree with your take on World Rally. I find all the tracks to be a lot of fun, both visually and in their layouts. It feels like they took the themes of the worlds in the first two world games, but put their own spin on it, which I like and felt was the right choice. Like don't get me wrong, I love World 1 & 2 and their visuals, but translating those levels' visuals directly into tracks doesn't seem like it would be the most interesting. Take World 2's snow world for example. It doesn't really have much in the way of set pieces to make for a visually-interesting track. So Arctic Iceberg, while looking fairly similar to those World 2 levels, add in original elements like the Viking ship and yeti to make the track more visually-interesting. Also you can NOT just say Funhouse of Terror isn't based on World 1's funhouse levels. They're both funhouses (which is already a pretty unique, uncommon theme) set in a colorful, abstract void with floating clown heads and all sorts of random shit. Sure, it's not presented 1-to-1, but you can't just say there's no resemblance, it's honestly more of a concrete reference than Toc-Man's Factory! Pirate Cove and Ghost Mansion also look fairly similar to the World 1 worlds while taking their own spin on the themes. Same with Molten Mountain and Arctic Iceberg with Pac-Man World 2. Heck, I'm pretty sure there are quite a few assets reused from World 2, like the trees in Rolling Hills. Heck, while probably unintentional, Cloud Garden honestly reminds me of Castle Pac from Pac 'n Roll, and Jungle Safari gives me some Pac-Man Adventures in Time vibes. So sure, I suppose you could say they could've been more faithful to World 1 & 2's levels, but to act like these tracks are just generic themes with absolutely no connection to the World series just feels like a bad-faith argument IMO. Besides, you act like Mario Kart or other kart racers NEVER take creative liberties with their tracks. Like, what Mario level is Toad's Turnpike based on? Or Moo Moo Farm? Or Kalimari Desert? Or Cheese Land? Or Baby Park? Or Rosalina's Ice World? Or Electrodome? Or even Rainbow Road? So many Mario Kart tracks bear little to no resemblance to actual Mario levels, but nobody really notices or cares, because the tracks themselves are fun, look visually interesting, and fit into Mario's general art style to not be jarring. I feel that World Rally does the same. The art style is very reminiscent of World 1 & 2, the themes are reminiscent of World 1 & 2 while having their own unique flair, and the original tracks like Canyon Cruisade, Winding Wetlands, or Spooky's Castle don't feel out of place in the Pac-Man universe. Just a couple of other things to note, Subterranean Speedway is based on Dig Dug, not Mr. Driller. Yeah, I know Mr. Driller is the spiritual successor to Dig Dug and the two have crossed over multiple times, but there aren't any Mr. Driller-specific elements in the track like colored blocks, while the music is clearly a Dig Dug remix and giant rolling Pookas are hazards on the track. Lastly, Pac-Devil. Sure, he's only in this game with no explanation, but I do like his design, and plenty of other spinoff titles introduce characters out of nowhere, like Waluigi and Toadette. Now this is just my own speculation, so take it with a grain of salt, but World Rally was developed at the same time as Pac-Man World 3, but also another game; Ms. Pac-Man Maze Madness 2, which got cancelled. No official reason why, but I assume it had something to due with both the change in management from the Bandai merge and GCC's lawsuit over the unpaid Ms. Pac-Man royalties. But back to the point, they were able to include Erwin, the villain of the Pac-Man game being developed at that same time, so I don't think it's too far-fetched that Pac-Devil could've been from Maze Madness 2, probably as the villain. After all, the Pac-Man series usually makes a new villain each game, and the villain of Maze Madness 1, Mesmerelda, was redeemed at the end of that game, so she couldn't be brought back in that role. Again, this is all just speculation, but I think it's plausable.
As a kid I loved world rally. Though I don't remember the Pac-Devil I'm pretty sure I just used Pac-Man. The stage selection did not bother me but I was a kid and didn't really care about that.
I feel like the criticism of the Spooky level not being based on his levels or character personality is a little weird. I mean if we're comparing to Mario Kart here...when did daisy ever have a cruise ship? When did mario or luigi ever own thirteen circuit courses? When did wario or waluigi own mud track stadiums? These racing games quite often just slap a character's name on an unrelated course.
What makes it worse is that it is actually based on something related to the character as spooky was imprisoned during midievil times by sir pac-allot and a wizard who is even seen in said castle at the end of the track above a cauldron that he likely made the golden fruits in that were used to seal spooky in the first place. Don't get me wrong that spooky has very little lore to their character as they are basically just a warlock/lich but it is the most notable thing about them as it is why they are even seen as such a danger at all.
Finally, someone said it..There's at the very least an attempt to theme the tracks to the PMW games in a way that Mario Kart rarely, if ever, does. Ghost Mansion, Pirate Cove, Toc-Man's Factory & Funhouse of Terror are literally based on PMW1 locations, Ghost mansion even has some of the enemies from the Haunted Halloween levels in Ms. Pac-Man's Maze Madness. The entire final cup is also based on other Namco properties.
Most Mario Kart tracks aren't based on Mario levels either and a lot of them are also named after characters but make no sense with said character, this seems a bit nit picky imo
Hate to be an asshole so please forgive me, but I think the stages have a strong represetnation of the themes/stages in the pac-man world series whilst adapting them to race tracks. All of the entral world themes from 1 (Pirate, cave, factory, circus, ghost mansion) and mostly 2 (Treetop, ice area, volcano) are adapted -not directly - but still present. It makes it more accesible to those who maybe haven't played the PMW games, without being too incoherent or irrelevant. I think that more overt references would have been nice, and maybe they can in a remake, but I never found this to be an issue with the game. Good video overall, love your content. (Please button up your shirt next time, idk why but I found that so distracting)
I don’t think I had as much of a problem with the maps as you lol. I will agree that it would probably be better if there were some more references to the game. Gameplay wise it's still a fun kart racer, and that's all it's really trying to be.

Found this out a little later: PAC-MAN Kart Rally was actually originally made for old Java phones as well as Windows Mobile, with a 2D version as well as a 3D version for beefier phones. The smartphone and Fire TV versions are actually a port/remake of said Java game and came a few years later. ironically enough, it actually seems to be better in a lot of ways than the Android version, particularly the souped up 3D version. I also have a modded copy of the Android version that bypasses the paywall, allowing the full game to be accessed.

Enjoyed the review, never played this one, funny that pacman was in the arcade version of Mario kart. Also liked the Mario poster in your background, where did you get it?
Glad you enjoyed it, thank you for watching!!! I got both the Pac Man and Mario posters at a poster specific pop-up sale and it was like 2 for $20. They might be bootlegs/unofficial as a result so I can’t say for sure where they are from :(
Yeah I honestly do agree with you. This is a fine Mario Kart clone, but man it really doesn't have much personality. Pac-Man, as a franchise, has a lot of mechanics like the Super Dots from Super Pac-Man, which turn you into big Pac. Those mechanic ideas could work in an interesting way for a racing game. And a Namco crossover racing game could be very cool. Namco has tons of legacy franchises, who are basically dead nowadays. Most of the classic Namco games these days get no new games, and their last games released usually were cheap mobile games (like Rally-X and Mappy).
1:06 so technically they *were* but it was more of a reboot that got cancelled you can find some interesting stuff for it online, but it was more concept and less actual game
The irony of this coming out after I accidentally stumbled upon this game when looking for Pacman World ROMs , seriously tho I actually adore this game and it's nothing other than the fact I love racing games and the fact that Clyde looks really silly . Believe me tho the maps suck sometimes and I really do wish they were actually more Pacman themed but I really can't talk when I legit enjoy this game so much . Perhaps it's simply bc I am a small minded peasant or just bc I literally will love anything that is Pacman related . Who knows all I know is that I like this game despite the fact it kinda sucks lol
Pac man world rally was cancelled on xbox and alot of charecters were removed from the psp games i grew up with this game on ps2 i actually made a review for this game but decided not to release it cause my bad editing skills the company shifted over to smart bomb games and after this game and a few others the company debunked i got this game in a pac man power pack back in 2008 grew up with it and was my absolute fav racing game ngl but yea mappy and a few other racers are exclusive to the psp port weird. And the soundtrack was one of my favorites
Me, thats me. I liked pacman world 3. The large open levels with tons of interesting mechanics to work with i thought were really good. I always liked the grand scale of everything that was going on too. Granted i played 3 first.
It's so insane that a lot of franchises get these awful phone games, I guess the mobile gaming craze was just too lucrative to not at least make a cheap attempt at it
God I know it's probably the nostalgia in me but I had some fun playing Pac-Man World rally as a kid I do remember it does have some flaws I do remember having fun with the game I do agree with your opinions I definitely don't think it's great but definitely not the worst kart racing game ever maybe one of the one Pac-Man World games interns of very little references to the Pac-Man World franchise.
Great review! As someone who grown up with this game and have plenty of nostalgia for it, I can completely understand the flaws pointed out. Even back then I did quite notice how most stage felt like a checklist of themes rather than being call backs to the world games, the tracks felt disconnected from the series and that was just very odd to me. Also for me, the Battle mode was what saved the game for me, me and my brothers and friends would play the multiplayer battle mode for hours! It's that fun really, but most games being played on multiplayer have that effect so no surprise here. But yea, I might still think this game is decent, but I can entirely see your points and why lack of love to the source material could ruin the experience. Also, I may or may not like World 3 the most out of the series... Lol
Glad you enjoyed the video and thank you for sharing your experience!!!! World 3 holds a special place in my heart as it’s the one I primarily grew up with haha even if I can’t say it’s good objectively. We all like different things and that’s okay
Yea its ok to have different views on things, if anything that makes debates more interesting! Also a side note about World 3, these annoying scorpion dudes that takes ages to kill, they are weak to rev rolls and will die with about 3 rev roll hits. I like to point this out to people who have played World 3 to see their reaction. So much time Punching these things for nothing
You do realize half of the Mario tracks also has nothing to do with Mario game at all. Beside the mansion, castles, beaches and or references to characters. When was the last time we see the toad factory or coconut mall in a Mario game. Do you see what I’m mean.
Back when I was younger and downloaded kart rally, I felt pranked. Like the game was ass, it even had drifting. Sound track was ass, graphics were ass, like everything. Worst game I’ve ever played
There are good Pac-Man racing games, actually. Ridge Racer Type 5 Ridge Racer V Ridge Racer 6 Ridge Racer 7 Mario Kart Arcade GP & DX If you want good racing games with Pac-Man in them, then play those instead.
ok i can agree its a little dumb that rally doesn't have very many references to the pacman world series, i'm let down by that as well, and i can also agree that more than a few of the maps are kinda generic but, i do think your some of criticisms about the designs are a bit harsh, especially towards ghost mansion i always loved the frankenstein pacman, its so stupid but i love it so much
I hope that the ghostly adventures games be good games i love the series even as a adult but i never got the chance to play the ghostly adventures games but what i seen it looks good
I fucking forgot about Kart Rally, I used to have it on my Google account and still do, it's annoying at times. Still a good game. I give my respects who owns this on their phones.

I actually still own world tour! Had a ton of fun with it but I know it's bad lmao. I'm just happy it has my boy the prince as a playable character!
the Pac-Man World 3 slander is making me want to submit a watchlist to the FBI >:(((((((((((
Great video, after watching it I am kinda curious, is there actually a good Mario Kart clone game that is nearly as good as Mario Kart?
Some people say the Sonic and Sega All Stars games. Other than that I’m not sure.
Yeah I enjoy Sonic Racing Transformed. Hot Wheels Turbo Racing could be another one. Or the newest entry
Man, I Remember Playing Pac-Man Kart Rally And I Was Pretty Bad In That Game Lol
1:06 so technically they *were* but it was more of a reboot that got cancelled you can find some interesting stuff for it online, but it was more concept and less actual game
I only got to play World 1 (Plus Ms Pacman, which unpopular opinion was actually my favorite of the lot) and World 2 as a kid, never played World 3.
who tf wants to spend time playing these kart games? everyone knows that hello hitty and Sanrio friends racing is for real men
The irony of this coming out after I accidentally stumbled upon this game when looking for Pacman World ROMs , seriously tho I actually adore this game and it's nothing other than the fact I love racing games and the fact that Clyde looks really silly .
I was just playing the psp version since i couldnt find any pics of mappy ingame or mr driller aaaaa
The only one on the fandom pages was a generic png lmao
Not anymore.
As far as I was aware there was only one.
I 100% bet they could have made the entire race from world 4 of pacman world and it would work.
The NitroRad jab though… *wheeze*
Man this is a great video good job! I love pac man and random spin offs of it
Thank you!!!
pac-man kart rally is so nostalgic to me, i never got to buy the full version tho :(
Pac-Man Kart Rally was awesome.
That other one I remember too.. ugh.
It's so insane that a lot of franchises get these awful phone games, I guess the mobile gaming craze was just too lucrative to not at least make a cheap attempt at it
RSW: The Mobile Game
God I know it's probably the nostalgia in me but I had some fun playing Pac-Man World rally as a kid I do remember it does have some flaws I do remember having fun with the game I do agree with your opinions I definitely don't think it's great but definitely not the worst kart racing game ever maybe one of the one Pac-Man World games interns of very little references to the Pac-Man World franchise.
7:27 You mean Pac-Man World 2 Greatest Hits!
So you forgot the churches in Pac Land
I have a very blurry memory of playing the mobile one when i was little.
What a horrible game i played...
You do realize half of the Mario tracks also has nothing to do with Mario game at all.
Beside the mansion, castles, beaches and or references to characters.
When was the last time we see the toad factory or coconut mall in a Mario game.
Do you see what I’m mean.
24:02 thats not pacman thats spongebob spherepants
😭
00:24:15 bull egg? It’s supposed to be bootleg ,not bull egg !
Am I the only one who loves PAC-Man world 3? Probably because I grew up with it and I love it better than the first two.
Back when I was younger and downloaded kart rally, I felt pranked. Like the game was ass, it even had drifting. Sound track was ass, graphics were ass, like everything. Worst game I’ve ever played
Honestly if we ever get a pacman world 4 we should get it in a collection similar to wily tower in megaman wily wars
New game just dropped: Pac-Man becomes racist
There are good Pac-Man racing games, actually.
Ridge Racer Type 5
Ridge Racer V
Ridge Racer 6
Ridge Racer 7
Mario Kart Arcade GP & DX
If you want good racing games with Pac-Man in them, then play those instead.
ok i can agree its a little dumb that rally doesn't have very many references to the pacman world series, i'm let down by that as well, and i can also agree that more than a few of the maps are kinda generic
but, i do think your some of criticisms about the designs are a bit harsh, especially towards ghost mansion
i always loved the frankenstein pacman, its so stupid but i love it so much
They should've named Ghost mansion Boo! haunted house
A fellow AVGN fan 👀
@@JeffCompass I commented this right before you used that clip from AVGN adventures lol
You forgot to bring up PAC-MAN E1 Grandprix
Why do I weirdly want you to talk about PAC ‘N ROLL?
I’d be down one day!
I like the DS version of that game best
pac-man 2 the new adventures is known for haveing bad controls and a bad final boss
What about pc version?
At least the best pacman racing games out there are Mario Kart GP 1 and 2 since pac-man was playable.
I hope that the ghostly adventures games be good games i love the series even as a adult but i never got the chance to play the ghostly adventures games but what i seen it looks good
why isn't ur shirt buttoned?
Just how I’ve always worn shirts
The NitroRad gag earned my like
Im making a fanmade Pac-Man world 4
Another excellent video!
Glad you enjoyed thank you :)
I fucking forgot about Kart Rally, I used to have it on my Google account and still do, it's annoying at times. Still a good game. I give my respects who owns this on their phones.
Pacman fans: *Pulls a gun*
it’s pronounced “Katamari Da-Mah-See” lmao
Katamari The Macri!?!?
World rally is GOATED
i kinda liked this game bc i had the psp game it was fun
hey man, i use an amazon fire tv on a daily basis😥
Funky I think we should talk……
"Pac priests" 😂😂
This is not a review, just nagging and complaining for no reason. Probably trying to be funny...
Pac man world 3 is okay
