brown55061 thanks for the question. In my experience, hydrogen peroxide works best when the temperature of the solution is similar to the temperature of the surface. I have used in on bare wood, painted surfaces and in my opinion bare wood appears to absorb it better which causes it to work better. Some painted surfaces may require light sanding so that the hydrogen peroxide can penetrate.
I smell mold in my living room closet I went in the attic but can't find where it's coming from I sprayed peroxide but didn't see it fizz like on your video... I don't see any water or damp marks in my closet what should I do?
This times a bazillion. That crawl will always have issues if the drainage issue is never solved and the vapor barrier is not replaced/installed correctly.
The best way is to wash the canister and any non electrical parts with dawn. Then wipe the surfaces with hydrogen peroxide. All porous filters should be disposed.
Understand that mold on a car is growing differently than mold on wood or drywall. The surfaces that mold grows on must be handled differently, so cleaning a car with vinegar and water may work in an effective manner. If it is a porous surface that has mold, then water and vinegar will not be, in our opinion, be the best choice. Molds can grow roots into porous surfaces, so cleaning those surfaces with a little scrubbing, making sure that surface is dry and stays dry will and should be the goal. We use Hydrogen Peroxide for the cleaning of mold on porous items such as wood joist, I frames and such.

The white mold dissipates when its sprayed. I just wanna know if this could be making me sick. No skin rashes non of that, just the smell burns my nose sometimes.
White mold could be Aspergillus or Penicillium. Mold growing on surfaces are one thing but airborne spores will determine your reactions. These species are commonly found indoors and will normally cause allergy type symptoms. If you are or have not experience anything as of yet, count your blessings, I would still recommend air samples to be on the safe side. Also check you HVAC ducts for dust, they could have the same growth species

Wouldn't a shop vac sort of defeat the purpose of mold spore containment. Wouldn't it do more harm than good, by reblowing mold spores all around? How many microns is a mold spore . I think hella filters collect up to .5 or maybe .03 microns?
Jennifer Rothman The misunderstanding of mold spores that most people fail to realize I'd that they need 3 elements to grow. In a crawlspace spore count are not a major concern because the air is unstable. Yes it is standard practice to create negative pressure in a crawlspace, but as professionals, you can also improvise your work environment. Trying to remove all mold spores from an isolated place will be a daunting task, but focus on drying out all wet material and removing surface and ingrained mold.
Lekeyshia Dennis-Hall the first process should be to ensure the water leak has been corrected, then HEPA vacuum the areas of concern, some light sanding may be required in heavy soiled areas, then spray the hydrogen peroxide on the areas. The hydrogen peroxide should be allowed to react for 3 to 7 minutes or until the foaming has dissipated. Wipe clean with a microfiber cloth and repeat the process until foaming does not occur.

C. Shabaiash I am not aware of that specific application, but there are many solutions to treat the wood. The truth is that wood is one of the food sources for mold to growth, what about the floating dust that lands on top of that treating wood? That wasn't a lot of mold at all. Not nearly enough to affect anyone decently healthy. Not even close
I smell mold in my living room closet I went in the attic but can't find where it's coming from I sprayed peroxide but didn't see it fizz like on your video... I don't see any water or damp marks in my closet what should I do?
J.R. Watts I’m not sure, but if you smell it, it’s there. Maybe behind the dry wall?
Look how wet that bottom block is at the end of the video. GET THE WATER OUT OF YOUR CRAWLSPACE
This times a bazillion. That crawl will always have issues if the drainage issue is never solved and the vapor barrier is not replaced/installed correctly.
How do you clean your Shop-Vac after mold removal?
The best way is to wash the canister and any non electrical parts with dawn. Then wipe the surfaces with hydrogen peroxide. All porous filters should be disposed.
Thanks, Dan!
is it true you can clean off mold with vinegar? Seemed to work on my car that was in storage.
Daniel, The Mold Man, Smith Hi I have the same problem my car accumulated mild and I cleaned it with bleach and water and a few other things mixed in with the bleach.. I scrubbed all the mold visible and laid bakin soda what do you suggest? I have a 8month old son and I need to make sure it stays gone.. thanks in advance
Ahnyinah Davis Thanks for reaching out. What caused the fungal growth to occur? Did you vacuum the car as well? Are your seats leather or cloth?
Okay. I have white mold growing all over base boards and little spores coming uo higher. Its been raining a lot lately and It made all this white mold kick up. The crawl space smells horrible. Its not my house and the owner doesnt have the money to fix. What can i do. I cant move right now. What do you recommend???? The house flooded 8 yrs ago.
Where are you located?
@@DanielTheMoldManSmith East tx. By Louisiana. This house is very old. Like 1930s. Solid wood frame house. Only sheetrock is in the two bath rooms I recently renovated. Main question is the white fuzzy mold growing little patches where base boards are at. Ive been cleaning walls and everything with vinegar and borax mixture.
@@DanielTheMoldManSmith yeah, the motor in the blower for the hvac went out and im sure thats why alot of this started Im sure. Plus the rain washes up under the house. Im trying to get her mom to buy new grates to cover old crawl space vents. Main issue I think is there is only a cralspace door on back side of property and it has no holes in the tin doors. I need to replace that with something that can let the air under the house breathe huh??? Just sucks cuz Im currently wiping down her daughters rm with borax solution to kill the white stuff. Its bairly on the base boards. Not that bad but the smell is what alarmed us. Thank you for your time man!!!
So after the peroxide solution what do you clean with?
Lekeyshia Dennis-Hall the first process should be to ensure the water leak has been corrected, then HEPA vacuum the areas of concern, some light sanding may be required in heavy soiled areas, then spray the hydrogen peroxide on the areas. The hydrogen peroxide should be allowed to react for 3 to 7 minutes or until the foaming has dissipated. Wipe clean with a microfiber cloth and repeat the process until foaming does not occur.
@@DanielTheMoldManSmith I wonder if you can help me or maybe contact my brother .
The problem he is having is that although he has some mold in the house most of which you cannot see and most people who come there cannot smell it the problem is he is very ill with B6 toxicity and they are for absolutely every kind of synthetic sent every kind of chemical smell is heightened exponentially and making him really ill .
He will get real bad itching burning skin and tongue and has neuropathy where all his nerves are inflamed and irritated .
Is trying to detox from the vitamin B6 but the problem is it is in almost everything and so he is now emaciated really truly bones sticking out of his back and he has become pretty weakened .
Every kind of HEPA filter out there makes him sick he says the smell lingers in the air for days and he says the mold spores tend to aerosolize and stay in the air... but then he doesn't vacuum much because every single kind of filter out there just about is irritating him and he it one point even rented an air scrubber.
He used concrobium in some parts of the house and used it to bomb our mother's bedroom which I think he said had a mold count of 3000 but my brother said it actually made everything worse... he is desperate really truly depressed and at his wit's end
@@DanielTheMoldManSmith also I got forgot to add that he was going to have somebody come out to the house and they were going to use microban but when I researched it somebody said you should not use it if you have a weakened immune system and health issues ...which he does .. have you ever used microban also I found a video but I don't understand it by the title it is called something like like microban but love microbial and yet when I watch it I don't understand exactly what the product is and when I read the description the spelling is slightly different so I don't know if the product is macrobial... or microbial..? ... or if that is just a description rather than a real title .
So have you ever used either of those and if so can you tell me what you think now that it's been a while since you made this video but I will certainly tell my brother about the peroxide and spray it
Mold leaves spores that's why it's so hard to clean up in other parts of the house because their spores tend to aerosolize in the air and they are and they can be like that for a really long time
gardensofthegods There’s a new technique where they blast the affected area with dry ice, and it gone for good. I hear it’s a bit expensive, but worth the money.
My cousin did his own mold abatement and he put some waxy stuff on the house frame after the cleaning was done. Do you know about that? Have you used anything like that?
C. Shabaiash I am not aware of that specific application, but there are many solutions to treat the wood. The truth is that wood is one of the food sources for mold to growth, what about the floating dust that lands on top of that treating wood? Yes it then too becomes a food source for mold and eventually it will eat right through the applied application and back onto the wood.
Daniel, The Mold Man, Smith , real mold abatement company's use negative air pressure machines and containments hepa vaccum to control the dust. Man your company is cheap!
C. Shabaiash I have not heard of anything like that.
Juan Flores why do all that in a crawlspace? Don’t most companies do that for iIndoors?
@@claremorris9866 you're absolutely right you would do that indoors it would make no sense to Do It Outdoors... this juan character is a dumbass
It's Hydrogen Peroxide ....sheeeessshhh
Esoteric Fitness It kills mold!
Would bleach work also ? Or just peroxide ? And what are your mixing ratios ?
Bleach does not kill mold on porous surfaces. Hydrogen Peroxide should be straight.
@@DanielTheMoldManSmith - Thanks for the quick response. How much peroxide to water or is it just straight peroxide ?
@@LucifersDeathSquad straight peroxide. Based on the items that you are cleaning and what is available to you to purchase. We offer a 6% solution if you are interested.
I have some mold in my attic on the roof deck due to bad venting. Ill try the peroxide in the spray bottle and see how i do. Thank you for the quick response and tips. Very helpful.
@@LucifersDeathSquad did it work I got the same problem
is their anything,or chemical solution mixed with the peroxide?
Twiggy Cooper the solution is surfactants and 7.5 % hydrogen peroxide. the surfactants is a soap like to help it spread.
Can I just buy 35% Food Grade hydrogen peroxide and dilute it? Thanks for the Video Daniel. Very helpful.
You do not want to mixed any solution with water to clean mold, water is one of the three elements that is essential for the growth of mold. Depending on the growth rate, species (need to have tested first) and coverage will determine what will be the best % to use. I do hope this helps.
I mean buying 35% and making 7.5% or 10% yourself. Is there a brand/supplier of hydrogen peroxide that you suggest? Thanks.
Twiggy Cooper there are companies that sell a high percentage of Hydrogen peroxide, but I don't use or recommend that high percentage for do it yourselfers. The greater the percentage, the greater the risk
Do you work out of state?
Yes, what state are in you?

What insulation rating to use?
For what? The minimum required insulation depends on your location & where the insulation is going: attic, crawlspace, walls, etc.
