I purchased the 5 cup for my Motorhome. It makes a great cup of coffee. 😊
My 5 cup Pitcher leaked all over when pouring and when I set it up Coffee came out from under the Plastic rim onto the resting plate. I have a Bunn Coffee Maker so I am taking the Bunn carafe it fit’s perfectly so I Pitched that Stainless steal pitcher and now everything works excellent. I made Ice tea in it yesterday and because my Bunn Carafe holds 10 cups I was able to just add some water to the water side and make 10 cups of brewed tea very nice so it’s versatile this way and it doesn’t spill a drop

I love my 5 cup bonavita!!! It’s fast, simple to use, has a bloom phase, and makes fantastic coffee!
Love my Bonavita!!!! Super high quality and a superior cup of coffee.
I bought the small for myself and the large one for my parents ❤
Love my Bonavita. But please forgive my ignorance...doesn't the water have to come to a boil in order to rise up the fill tube and into the basket? If it's at boiling point, it's over 212 degrees. Can I assume that between the fill tube and the shower head/basket the water cools down from 212 to around 205? I know, assumptions.... Just curious. Thanks for the vids and the info.
Thanks to these videos, I know what coffee maker I want for my birthday - the BV1500TD. The carafe is exactly the size I need - and I know fresh ground is better, but the convenience of an automatic cup of coffee outweighs the difference it makes. Thanks!
I had the BV1800TH for several years until it just stopped working. I regularly cleaned and maintained the machine and it made great coffee. The light would turn on but nothing happened. It's not really worth getting it fixed, it would probably cost as just buying a new one. In a couple days im buying a Moccamaster
I’ve been looking into one of these. I have at least 7 different brewing methods at home, and not one is easy (or at least as easy as my lazy self desires) cleanup. Is this low maintenance as far as cleanup after brew? I’m over cleaning the French press parts, cold brew setup, etc.
What would be the amount in grams for the 5 cup brewer. I have been using between 38-45 grams and it has done well. What is the correct amount for the 5 cup? He stated 70 for the 8 cup.....Thank you in advance...
I just got mine today and I don’t understand how they recommend 56-72g coffee for 8cups. I have changed to course grind and it still fills up the basket and causes a mess. I even tried fresh roasted local. What am I missing?
I purchased the 5 cup and found that the Carafe holds on to some coffee you can't get out. This feature is a game changer for me. I also found their ratio of water to coffee is way too strong. They recommend 10gr per cup. Did i hear wrong?
How much is a cup?
I just checked on the SCAA website and the 5-cup one is not listed as certified. What does Bonavita say about that? Is it still going through the process or did it just not make the cut?
+ascosta It is in the process for SCAA certification :)
Guessing it didn't pass the test? It's still not certified.
Would love to see.a demo of what happens when you brew coffee right off the roast..I've heard you're supposed to wait, but have never seen what happens when you brew right after roasting :)
+Kay Gladys Sounds like an experiment! :)
Hi Gail... I see the 5-cup maker has worse reviews. What is the disadvantage of brewing a 4 cup pot in the 1900?
+phillyd823 Where are you seeing these bad reviews? Both of these models have great user reviews on our site. :D
Why wouldn't you want to use the pre-infusion? I fresh grind grocery store whole beans.
pschroeter1 pre infusion only works best when beans have been roasted a few days before... Rarely (never dare I say) the case at grocery stores unfortunately.
I get my beans freshly roasted from my personal local roaster. Great fresh beans.
I've had one of these for a couple weeks and I'm sorry I spent the $90. I would've been happier buying a $40 if just about any brand. I wanted a brewer with a carafe because I don't like heaving to drink my coffee too fast before it burns in a glass pot. I picked a bonavita from UA-cam reviews and how they mentioned the brewing temperature. If you don't preheat the carafe with hot water the coffee is at best luke warm after adding half and half. So when I get up in the morning to get hot coffee I have to run a pot of water thru it to get hot water in the carafe or let my water run until it's hot enough to hear the carafe. I also have to preheat my coffee cup. Then I'm free to start making a pot of coffee. Grind my coffee etc, The carafe occasionally leaks a little coffee when I pour from it. It's just too much trouble for drip coffee at 5:00am. Maybe if the coffee was so amazing I thought wow I've never had coffee this good in my life! But it's not. I'll just have to buy a good programmable machine and a separate carafe for the times I need one. I kind of want to throw this one in the trash but I just spent almost $100 on it. I'll give it to one of my kids but I'm pretty sure they won't like it either.
Did you end up buying a different one? On any carafe coffee maker they recommend preheating it by brewing some hot water or running it under hot water. I even have to do that with my separate carafe. At work I also preheat my coffee cup because I use milk or cream which is going to drop the temp, and our coffee at work is from a commercial brewer. Sometimes I'll put the half and half in the mug and heat that in the microwave before I put coffee in it so it doesn't drop the temp of the coffee.
The reason I won't buy this one, and I was very interested, is that I always want coffee before it is finished and you won't let me sneak a cup
These coffee makers are going to be faster than a typical store bought coffee maker to meet the SCAA standards. My dad was used to the BUNN that brewed in 3 minutes. When that finally broke, I tried a cheap store bought model and he hated it because it took sooo long. I bought him a Bonavita and he's happy again because it takes about 5-7 minutes. He had the 1800 which finally broke after many years. He has the 1900 now -- I actually like the taste from the 1900 better.
195 to 205; that's a 10 degree difference! Too much variance I believe. I thought it was 202-204.
I must say I'm not impressed with this coffee maker after watching a few videos on UA-cam about it saying that it was one of the best my coffee doesn't taste any better and after receiving my coffee from their sponsor I decided to purchase another coffee maker The Compact Grind And Brew Gourmet VIANTE Coffee Grinder Maker 2 Cups Brewer And the coffee was better Ben this $200 machine and I only paid $35 for it
When video first started, I thought it's Chester from LP for a second.

+Seattle Coffee Gear Person which replies to the comments should get an Oscar for doing a very good job :-)
+MurcielagoLP670SV I tried so hard
+Seattle Coffee Gear Hahaha :-)
I'm stuck on choosing the Bonavita 1900TS or the OXO On 9 cup. I want to take a full thermos to work but on the weekend only make a few cups at a time. I know the Oxo is cup programmable & the Bonavita isn't. Can I make just a few cups in Bonavita or should I stick with choosing the OXO? I have no idea which one makes the better coffee. Thanks for your time.
Nice PRODUCT review video. NOT a “How to make coffee” video. No mention of grind size or ratio of grinds to water,.
