The video was good....but each of those topics could have filled a video for hourse.
Chet Helms seemed to be a very bright and insightful individual. I would have liked to have known him....and it makes me sad to know he is no longer "with" us. Member of The Family Dog....integral to the "Summer of Love"....music promoter...."discovered" Janis Joplin (and others :-). There's so much more to Chet to know that those of us that never met him can only wonder about.

What year was this filmed, do you know? btw, i was lucky enough to say i had "been there, done that," being born in mid-50s close to SF! Gosh, do i feel privileged to have been there then! I saw so many of those early bands, even janis joplin one whole time My cousin drove us up to Avalon Ballroom, Fillmore West, Family Dog by the beach, and Winterland. I can't believe they never asked my age, just took my $3 and let me in ! with all the drugs and sex and whatever going on... that wouldn't happen these days!!
i always wondered why bill graham always introduced the bands at Fillmore, but i never saw Chet Helms introduce anyone before they started playing... maybe he did and i don't remember, hahaha

I was there too! The first time I saw Chet Helms was at the Avalon in 1966. I had never seen a guy with waist length hair before. If only we had kept some of those posters from way back when!

@@Shroomeryslearyfan My mother has been gone over thirty years now. All I can remember is, as a teenager, my grandma and great aunt talking about somebody in the music business up in San Francisco. Found out we were related when my husband started doing my ancestry for me. Grandma Walker ( Mary Helms) was an avid letter written, and kept up with what was going on with family. God.....how I wish I could talk to her about this, lol

@@cindyboyce2737 That's really awesome, Cindy. Thank you for sharing that. You should be proud to be related to him.
