My friend was at the Las Vegas concert and barely escaped to hide behind the stage as she watched people drop. She is still not ok despite the time gone by and therapy.
@@sptt144 I met a woman that was at the Las Vegas shooting. I was working at an arena that was having a concert. She told me she was triggered by the pyrotechnics and told me she had to leave.
Vatech massacre I was outside on of the buildings and saw ppl running out, but never saw anything else, and that's enough to trigger any shots I hear, I get paranoid that someone is going to snipe me
It never goes away but time does help heal you. But it’s always there you never forget what ever it is that’s burned into your brain and soul. You wish you could forget that would be a blessing. Sometimes we even do forget if the trauma is severe enough our brains protect themselves from it.
@haymaker710 I don't doubt it. The only reason my friend bolted to behind the stage is she was with an ex marine who recognized the sound of gunfire right away. Everyone else just stood there watching people drop.
Imagine going to sleep that night, knowing you are only alive because the guy's gun jammed.

He was a fire arms specialist. This could indicate the shooters mental state, possibly. A fully coherent specialist with mental faculties intact, most likely would not have an issue or act accordingly. Why a bowling alley and a bar? Most in a bowling alley likely would not be with ccw due to such movement when bowling, then family atmosphere. The bar could have been a different scenario as for ccw, though most would have most likely not been carrying due to legalities associated within the law's views with a firearm while intoxicated. There is a sense of this shooter not engaging enough of threat to himself that would or could have been his demise. Folks that do not actually care about how their own life will stay until stopped. This feller did not stay in the area for any followup engagements. His state of mind is actually more dangerous because of this. He most likely is evaluating his actions at this point, whether or not to continue, fight his way out or give himself up. I would say he has already made these decisions to himself. The uneasiness in the public's eye is of not knowing. The switch has already been activated when he engaged the first victim. A point of no return. An eye for an eye in every sense. The belief of law enforcement wanting to engage this man stands out more so then apprehension without a standoff. Folks are just getting tired of our judicial systems dealing with crimes. It is not the choice of weapons here folks, he could have exploded a bomb, electrocuted, the list is long as what could have been used to create bodily injury. It is our system that needs to be overhauled. It goes much deeper than just why they so incoherently dive into the mental state for accountability. Yes, there are those that actually need help but, how we have as a society gotten to this point. As they have already stated, this fellow slipped through the cracks that had enough evidence to sustain him for help yet was not acted upon. We all want some form of justice but yet again, here we are, cannot keep our borders secure, we are failing as world power, mistrust and no accountability are rampant, defunding law enforcement, our judicial system is politicized, our country's core values do not exist anymore. The list goes on and on. As our internal insecurities are coming to a boiling point I'll leave everyone with but just one final thought. What has the rest of the world been able to finally do to this country over the course of the last 40 plus years? Bring the unrest and insecurity they have known for centuries to our doorstep. Now look at us. We fear all and trust no one.
God bless these men’s bravery helping to bring so many to safety + reentering again not knowing if the shooter was still there. Praying for these families impacted by this senseless tragedy.🙏🏼

I live in Idaho and seeing people open carry guns is an everyday thing here. The last time I went bowling I noticed what looked like a twenty-year-old bowling on the lane next to me caring a semiauto pistol in a holster on his waist. I thought to myself why in the hell would anybody carry a firearm while bowling, I guess now I know the answers to that question.

This is Rural Maine. It's not like Idaho man. I lived in Logan UT and Rexberg for years. It's illegal in Maine and this alley has a no firearms sign:
"Open carry is not lawful in establishments licensed to serve alcohol for consumption on premises (bars, clubs, certain restaurants and so on) provided there is a "no firearms" sign posted in a manner reasonably likely to come to the attention of patrons or if the carrier of firearms is under the influence of alcohol or drugs by the same standards as apply for operating a motor vehicle."
I grew up in Auburn- Sparetime Rec Center and Schemengees are staples to everyone in the Lewiston/Auburn area. I spent many weekends bowling with my friends at Sparetime growing up and my brother spent his weekends at Schemengees playing pool.
It really is a tight-knit community where everyone knows each other…and if you don’t, than you know their son, daughter, brother, sister, cousin, neighbor etc. I have always felt grateful growing up in a place like Maine.
This is all so terribly sad.

It's mostly cold for 3 months and, this so happens to be the white time too... The rest of the year it's warming up to summer or cooling off to winter.
You are so right. My cousin was a survivor of the Schemengees shooting. I used to work in Lewiston and so many of my former colleagues are connected to the victims in one way or another.

This poor guy. I used to live just South of Portland and spent ten years in Maine. My son was born there and I have friends who remain there. They are amongst the finest people I've ever known. Heartbroken doesn't cover it. All my love to my adopted state of Mainers and all 'Mainers'.

Absolutely heartbreaking. This horrendous assault has devastated so many people's lives. I use to work with Tricia at a Distribution Center in Lewiston, she was a happy beautiful woman. My sons youth bowling instructor was murdered and his wife shot too. We don't the status of her. I can't comprehend why this could happen. Being a parent of 5 this terrifies me and has me on edge like never before. My heart and prayers go out to all.

None of this would have happened, if god hadn't wanted it to happen and it would not have happened if everyone in that bowling alley had been carrying a gun. God is sending a message to Americans. He wants all of us to carry guns all the time and god is never wrong. He works in mysterious ways. This was god's will!

Both areas were in gun free zones. You don't typically bring a gun to a children's bowling alley event and a bar, they dint usually work together.

Nobody had a handgun in their car that they could go retrieve to put the shooter down? That’s absurd. First thing I would be doing is running to my vehicle to get my firearm to return to engage the shooter. Not standing in the doorway looking inside, watching people get killed. Did you also get your phone out and take a video?
During the gun jam a few guys could have tried to tackle him but instead ran and now call themselves a hero.
These are the same heros who like you say: stay in the doorway and look.

@@christac1526 I was at a Walmart once where somebody threatened to shoot the employees after they kicked him out. I went to my car and got my pistol and waited. He was in his RV in the parking lot. He left and drove down the street, so I drove past him and followed him, and I watched a female police officer, pulling the RV over by herself. I did not have a concealed carry permit, so I left my gun in the car after I parked my car, and I ran up to the scene to assist the female officer in case he tried anything. I probably legally could have been carrying my pistol openly, but I decided against it because I did not want to get shot by a police officer that day coming onto the scene not realizing that I was carrying a gun trying to help butluckily another officer came up behind her after a minute when I was almost on scene, and I stood there and watched as they took him into custody.
These men are going to need some serious support in the coming days, weeks and months.
Their lives have just been changed forever, in a minute. And so many were ended - guns in the wrong hands and so many victims each year. If only there was an answer, what I don't know.

Just like always, there's already laws in place that should have prevented this. It's just that whoever was supposed to enforce these laws didn't do their job, but they work for the government, so we can't say that. It's NEVER the government's fault. Instead, we're gonna talk what other laws we can pass, but there's no amount of laws that can prevent this when the government has zero accountability when they fail to enforce the measures that they create.
It's always easier to shift the blame to an inanimate object. It can't defend its character, and it gets both sides arguing about gun laws and not why the vast majority of police and government agencies can't do a damn thing right.

Nope.....SEVERAL military veterans have been in this same exact boat. They are identified as mentally ill and that information never makes it to the appropriate agencies. No accountability ever! The government will never admit fault.

There are laws that are supposed to prevent things like this from happening, specifically when someone is admitted to a psychiatric care facility and ESPECIALLY when theyve also made direct threats to assault a military base...which is exactly what happened with this dude. The only problem is, those laws werent enforced and acted upon. What new laws would you propose that would prevent something like this, if the ones already on the books failed to prevent it?
The reality is, the system, laws, mental healthcare etc. routinely fail in this country even though they SHOULD work together to prevent things like this from happening..so what is the solution then? Accountability and significant change/improvement? Sure, thatd be nice. But even if all of those things WERE robust and effective at stopping a majority of these things from happening, guess what? Crazy, evil people will still exist and they will still attempt to do things like this, and the ONLY way to mitigate the loss of innocent life when these things inevitably happen is for there to be an armed, trained citizen who steps up to be a defender, there is no "waiting for the police" to come save you in these situations, its "can you defend your life and the people around you instantly" or not?

Gun fire in a building doesn't pop and a are in a building doesn't sound the same as out side close to it in proximity or the way it may sound like 2 shots under a bridge instead of 1 because of percussion echo. Interesting that the first guy say he wasn't concerned by any threat from Card.Exact sentiment when Robert Card *allegedly* called the school making threats a short while before, another point to acknowledge is that despite the first calls to police after 7:00pm, cops were closing parts of Lewistown from 5pm not long after phone call to school by Robert Card.
A spokesman (school head teacher/law offical) stated the same response, it is extremely unfortunate for the male child in the list of 18 dead and I know others may have been injured, however it is obvious that particular adults were the focus of the shooter.
I feel so much sorrow for all of the children at all locations.Childhood should be one of our most carefree times in our lives, free from any forms of harm.

Well with some of the things they have found out and released about the shooters personal life and problems, I wouldn't be surprised if the man has already committed suicide somewhere and might be why he hasn't been found yet. I just hope he doesn't re-emerge somewhere and do the same thing all over again.

Most had no phones with them apart from him and whomever else he has not mentioned, I suspect only the *organisers* were permitted phones and one has to question why, plus the knife that the owner always kept by the bar seems odd at a children's event, and according to another report, visible, for whose attention though?
The guy in cap said he was also 30 feet away from Card with his back turned away from door when he heard a pop, upon looking around he saw Card(never met him in his entire life before he stated)stood frantically looking around with his gun pointed to the floor as his gun jammed.
Man in cap hesitated and wished in that moment he had a gun but decided to tell his group to leave via the back exit, where he reported some were being trampled on trying to flee outside.
Yet first guy says while also 30 feet away he was around a corner, then particular lanes were closed but guy in cap said in another interview there were two groups being ran by him and a woman he has known for right years who is one of the deceased.
So there were three groups being taught by three adults then on Wednesday night.
