An immigrant who crossed into the U.S. illegally and shot at Texas police officers during a domestic violence call was already facing removal proceedings, authorities say. Jorge Jose Chacon-Gutierrez entered the country in November 2023 but wasn't due to appear in court until April 2026. Long delays in immigration court have been a concern, as migrants are often released until their hearing that can be years into the future.
