    Throughout this HOT SEAT episode, we delved into the challenges of entrepreneurship, particularly the struggle of focusing on a single business direction when you have multiple interests and skills. Our guest candidly shared her journey, including her experiences with makeup artistry, life insurance sales, and her latest venture into product invention.
    Despite her talent and the potential of her product, we uncovered a common entrepreneurial hurdle: fear of rejection and market feedback. Our guest admitted to holding onto her product prototypes for two years due to concerns about quality and market acceptance.
    We also discussed the importance of taking action and getting products to market, regardless of initial imperfections. The conversation highlighted the need for entrepreneurs to sell and get real customer feedback to refine their offerings.

      I agree. She doesn't lack confidence, she's asking for direction. She laid out everything that she does and asked for direction. She knows that everything is a bit all over the place, but yet again she's asking for direction on how to pull this thing in and make it make sense.

    I don't agree with the MUA that spot cleans. Spot-cleaning does not prevent bacteria from forming which is evident when you see celebrities that have conjunctivitis - the mealy breakout that form using dirty or damp brushes. And you CAN see it on the actor's faces. Girl, step out on faith. I remember Marcus saying in one of his lives, you can always readjust later. I'd buy one and I'm not an MUA, but I have issues with cleaning and thoroughly drying brushes cuz conjunctivitis is REAL.

  • @melissamangrum7024

    As a MUA of 20+ years I can say this product WOULD sell. At the current price point with a few minor tweaks. True Makeup Artist who work on sets and in studios daily could benefit from a product such as this. Bridal Artist with a consistent client base could benefit from a product such as this. Even if you do 1 face per day, you could benefit from a product such as this. Doing faces back to back on a set like Capital One, Walmart, NYFW etc....this will save LOTS of time at the end of a long day. Those Amazon ones don't fit the bill. At all. Kudos young lady, keep going! Get focused and keep going there is a world of true artists waiting for you and what you have to offer!

    Random ideas: A.) Sell it to women who have more problematic skin where it’s an absolute must for them to thoroughly clean and disinfect their brushes. B.) Sell B2B versus B2C - Target businesses who do makeup for special events where again it’s important to thoroughly disinfect the same brushes being used on different clients. C.) Test pushing the product for crafters only.. like you mentioned towards the end

    I honestly see this with a lot of us as black women business owners. We want to do ALL the things but cannot pinpoint that one thing we need to do to create the wealth we want for ourselves. Instead we hop on everything hoping it’s our ticket to financial freedom. One thing I took from this video is what ol’ dude said about the Mercedes C300 and the Maybach. Mannn that hit home for me! As a graphic designer, I’m always looking at my work like ain’t no way I can put this out there but now, I can honestly say I do dope work and what I’m not the best at, I can work at behind the scenes while still grinding at what I do well. #LetsFocus #Clarity

I currently just lay the brushes out on a towel across and ottoman and put a small heater fan on them for a few hours and they're dry. Prove to us how this is better. Show the videos on that.

    I'm glad she did her research to advise the other guy that her glam dryer is still relevant in the marketplace. His direction did not seem helpful to her until towards the end, and some things were absolutely unnecessary for him to say.
    I don't think she loves making content, I think she believes that its needed to keep her audience engaged. Which she's right, but she has to push the product during the process of the content.I also think the price point is a little steep. I'm wondering if she can get it down to $75.00 to $99.00 at the most?
    When David said, "everything we do needs to move towards the mark," I loved that. That's going to be a repetitive mantra for me ❤.

    I think one of the best pieces of advice I ever received was when you stop acting, thinking, and being a hustler then you will start to act, think and be a business woman. She sounds like a hustler. Hustler's only focus is to make money and get to the next hit. If she turned all that energy and time into educating herself on the actual industry, she would have been a millionaire years ago. My initial thought in the first 10 minutes was she is a content creator just based on what she does with her time alone. There is nothing wrong with being a content creator. There are millionaire content creators. She would do great at that! I think she should focus on that honestly. Patent the product and idea, sell it to someone who is actually focuses on inventing and has investors and receive residuals from that and do what she actually consumes her time doing which is creating content. I wish her all the best in whatever decision she makes. But make sure your decisions make you money and earn back your time you lost.

    Many Black women know they have a great product. Their confidence is strong in the product itself but lacks the confidence to move forward in taking risks. If they do begin, they stop at a certain level because we are used to wanting to be confirmed by others. We are looking for that permission to succeed. We are right there but afraid to take the next steps. This is why our circle and our community are important. Mentor who have successfully done it need to be in your circle and also the next gen of entrepreneurs coming up behind you need to be in your circle so we can help one another. Read, study others who have already done it get with your local SBA (that has programs that will help you) then proceed. There is help out there for you but you just have to dig through the nonsense. Sis if you rewatch this video, you were never confused. You knew what you wanted just seemed permission to go after it.

    This was good and relatable. There is always going to be an allure of new ideas and shiny objects. Eventually you have to decide if you are happy with your constant new ideas that go nowhere towards your overarching vision/goals. Most people don't have the ability to start, but she does. All she has to do is commit. The moments of discouragement and distraction are actual signals to be patient and double down into the work. Boring isn't sexy but it brings mastery.
    It is also possible she is could specialize in starting new ideas AND then selling them off (if that is her true strength). Not everyone is meant to run a business, some are just good at starting/launching and not the follow through - and that's okay (a lot of people make money that way).
    Dave definitely needs Donni on here to co-host a few hot seats lol.

    I was like this at one point. I had to DECIDE what was going to make me a millionaire. I decided & focused on THAT ONE thing. I could've done just about anything but making the decision was where the direction got started. Next was getting over my expectations not being met. You can't quit just because you get charge backs or because someone says your product is too expensive. You have to get over your own BS & press forward on your decision.

I did that for over 10 years. I bought my first house at 27. I looked at the settlement statement & saw all those people getting paid off ONE transaction & I was like, OH YEA!!! I started doing mortgages, then real estate. I've been a real estate broker since 2008. I work with investors & I sell businesses. It's still real estate just on the commercial side. As an up and coming MUA I think it would be VERY valuable to have the blow job dryer. Love the name. How are we supposed to GET to the bag without doing faces back to back, and the dryer allows us to do that when we only have a certain amount of brushes starting out we need to make sure they are clean and DRY, YES, I would never feel comfortable using wet brushes on a client I think that would be very unprofessional. And things like that can make a big difference starting out. There are so many hacks people come up with to dry their brushes but THIS IS just simply the fastest way. Crazy to me that these guys don't see that..but they aren't MUAs. So I guess I get it...but I think they went a little hard on her to be honest but she handled herself with Grace and I believe in her. So what she has multiple talents... if she wants to get herself to the next level yes I can see that she might have to focus in on one thing she believes in the most but... I think she's got it and I believe in her 100%

    After watching this episode, If I am honest, I actually don't know if I want to be an entrepreneur. When the host mentioned creating content to attract the type of man that you want, I was like, is that a thing? I think I would actually like to create content & do business in a way that is still meaningful and purposeful but I would love it to attract the type of man I desire in a husband. Because after they mentioned what entrepreneurs often truly desire when it comes to there business I had to be honest with myself and say, while I do believe in my business & content creation, I am not sure if that is my true desire after watching this episode. But again I still believe what I do has purpose, meaning and value in the market and I love to share what I know with the world, husband or not. But... Can you all give the ladies that maybe interested in latter, attracting the person you desire through your business. Can you do a podcast on that subject?

    • @iHeartCocoMarie
      @iHeartCocoMarie 5 місяців тому +1

      When you say attracting the person you desire, do you mean like doing business to attract the romantic relationship you desire? Or are you saying attract the right clients?

    • @Hope-zt6ug
      @Hope-zt6ug 5 місяців тому

      @@iHeartCocoMarie I want both if I am honest. If there is a way to work my business to get both at the same time, that would be ideal lol. I would not want to change my business to get a romantic relationship, but maybe a change in the strategy could get me both. The perfect potential client and the perfect potential husband. But after watching your episode, I think I truly desire marriage with the ability to work a business in a marriage more than I just want a business. But like you said sis ... It's not easy to obtain an amazing husband that will allow that. But I would love to hear their thoughts on how that might be obtained. Got to keep Hope Alive LoL
