Great video as always! A thought: You guys are always mentioning the chord voicing , but in this lesson I feel like a big part of the style is the stops. Maybe quickly mention the rhythmic elements help bring it home.
Repent and trust in Jesus. We all deserve Hell for our sins, such as lying lusting coveting and more. We can't save ourselves, but Jesus can save us. I just love the faces he makes with some of those chords. They do that. That's why I love gospel, RnB, funk, and blues so much. They give us that stank face.
Taaaaasteeeee! Veteran guitar player but I've been putting in time on my 80s Casio and getting better Plus it's unbeatable to compose on piano. Thanks to you an Adam both for the excellent stuff

God. I a white South African, but everytime I hear American gospel music, it's like some ancestral, deep rooted feeling of absolute sense take hold of me. I can't stop nodding or shaking my head, my gut gets comfortable and yearning all at the same time and I yearn for a singing voice to praise with every atom in my body, a God I deny exists. The music is so right, so steeped in slavery and joy from hope and the blues and cpmplex simplicity. Just pure fuckn' YAAAAASSSSS
Not just slavery, but deliverance from evil, hateful, demonic, anti-black sentiments and yes yearning for freedom prosperity, love, peace and harmony. And finally, to be able to live free of subjugation from prejudicial white supremacist ideologies and oppression! Peace and blessings’
Peter. You need to go ahead and just make.Gospel piano, a part of the curriculum at open studio. You could teach the beginner foundations of gospel. Then you could hire someone from the black gospel community on your team to teach the intermediate/advanced concepts of gospel piano. You could start off with the works of Professor Thomas Dorsey and let someone else take over to go into the 60s and 70s 80s And up to the present with gospel concepts. Just a suggestion.
delightfully paced and presented information. i could really use a longer video going through tricks like that, no long winded discussions or tutorials, just pure playing.
That's straight church right there
Refreshing actually. A lot of jazz cats say “check out these gospel chords” and it’s clear they’ve never heard gospel music 😂
If your lucky to attend a church with some soul. I wish my church would play some of this.
As opposed to gay church
@lenonel3286 there are so many ways you can take this lol
@@lenonel3286😂 these days you never know man
i'm an athiest but his playing made me say AMEN
Me too!
You don’t have to be a theist to believe in GOD!
Top comment brother 😂
I haven’t been to church since I was a child but this even made me throw in a HALLELUJAH
@@DelFlo yes you do, that's literally the definition of theist
I’m a jazz musician, but, I play in church. This is VERY tasty

Damn, that was the authentic Black Church sound.
Can hear the old women of the the church moaning the melody.
Dunno. That’s how my family ran their church all through 50s on up to 2000. White as rice.
A truly American sound, love it

That's that gospel!!! Ebenezer Baptist Church (Pensacola Florida), 1996. The great Chris Smith on Organ and Sista Smith on piano. Roy/ nem on drums.
Roy nem😂.
Lol! This sounds like Salem M.B. Church Courtland MS, 1999, Sister Holmes on the organ and Sister Harris on the piano, to me!
can they do a video? Do they do this by way of theory?
@@tfking10 yes. It's a combination of ear training, repetition, and practical theory.

Awesome vibes received. I love everything about this short!
Bassist here, jealous of your pallet. I get in trouble if I bring too much colour!
