    Showing how to get to cowl drains. Removing wiper blades and pulling all plastic covers uncovering everything in the plenum chamber.
    The left wiper used to hit the windshield side trim. I adjusted it too.

    4:40 You should have left the nut treaded in half of it, so you could use it as a guiding hole for your extractor.
    Also, you should have marked down with some tape on the windshield, whispers position prior to removing them.

      @@1KeNnY1KeNnY1 Well done! I did mine again two days ago. No need to remove the wipers all the time though. My car is holding up well. @@ThatAfricanGuy Yeah I did not remove the wiper also, just loosen the plastics and suck up everything with industrian vaccum cleaner. Then I pour 10-20 liters of water, everything drained nicelly. For your Gasoline motor, that is great mileage ! I have diesel, and 501,000 km :) already before I owned the car, they replaced all injectors, turbo, distribution chain, and had a complete repair of automatic transmission in ZF service. hello 🙂 Does the plenum chamber have drains? If so do you know how to clean them?
    mine is full of dirt and if water gets in it stays in for a long time , and its very hard to remove water because of so many things in there 😅

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  3 роки тому

      Yes there are two drains but they are hidden and almost impossible to spot. Leaves and debris clog them with time. Removing the top part like I did in this video is not absolutely necessary but gives more visibility. If you don't clean the plenum chamber you will start having water in your footwells in the cabin if the level of water gets high in there.

    I got a 2011 audi avant my two center heat/ac blowers are not working the sides are. I just got my engine replaced and when i picked it up they didn't have the cowl cover on it. I had them find it and put it on but is it possible water is going down and messing with the electrical/2 center blowers id they didnt install it properly. I live in an area with heavy snow/rain. Thanks and big ups

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  Рік тому

      The cover is there mostly to prevent leaves and dirt from falling into the cowl compartment and blocking the draining ports. It is okay for water to get in there as long as the e-boxes are properly sealed. It is good that you got the cover back. You should normally be okay.

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  Рік тому

      I left a window open and rain water flooded the rear footwell carpet at some point. What I did was use a rag to help suck the water out then after use the car's heater to dry the carpet. Leave the windows or doors open when drying the wet carpet as humidity condensation can affect your headliner which could sag as a result: ua-cam.com/video/NijufybB6xQ/v-deo.html

    I have this problem, water is coming in on the driver's side (it's running down the foot rest in the corner by the door, I have automatic transmission) but cleaning out the cowl didn't help. Where exactly are the drain holes in the plenum chamber? Maybe the hole(s) is still clogged? Can you reach it from underneath and maybe stick something in it to unclog it? Thx for any help!

    Hi
    I cleaned the main drain hole as you showed in the video.
    But there are two more holes in the sides.
    There is a lot of dirt in my car in the area of the two holes on the sides but I can not see the holes themselves. I tried to search the internet for where they are located but could not find one

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  3 роки тому +1

      The holes are not visible. They are hidden under the components installed inside the plenum chamber. After sucking out debris, if water is still not drained, use your fingers to reach hidden locations under the components. You will have to use your senses.

    Hi thanks for the video.
    My car also has a problem of water leaking under the driver's leg.
    I checked if there is a blockage in the drainage channels but no.
    What I noticed is that the fuse cover (under the hood. On the driver's side) is broken. Could it be that the water is coming in from there?
    Anyway. What vehicle systems is this fuse house responsible for? Is it dangerous for it to get wet with water?

    • @ThatAfricanGuy
      @ThatAfricanGuy  2 роки тому

      If there are indeed no blockage in the plenum area and you have a crack in the fuse box cover, I would suggest you replace that cover. And yes, leaving the cover like that may cause damage to your car electronics if water gets inside it. Which one is broken? The one on the driver's side or the one on the passenger's side?
