  • In this video, Stacey going to share with you some of the best ways to prepare your student for California state testing. She doesn't believe in teaching to the test, but she does want to make sure all students are familiar with the testing platform and questions so they can do their best!
One More Note: One other resource is Conquer the CAASPP from the creators of Mr. D Math and Write At Home. (conquerthecaaspp.com) My son used this test prep last year through our charter school and it was amazing! Check and see if your charter school offers this test prep.
    Happy Homeschooling,

Thank you so much for this Video. My son is in 3rd grade still learning to type, so my question is during the writing portion of the test does he write on paper then type? And do they get plenty of time to type cuz he’s really slow.

There is no time limit on the state testing. But your school will offer different testing times you will need to fit into your schedule. Students are allowed scratch paper, so they could write it first then type if they want.

Great video ! We are looking into a charter school , I was wondering does your charter school allow you to buy books on your own that are from religious companies? For example abeka curriculum? I heard some charters don’t allow that , thank you

Thanks! Yeah, since Charter Schools are public schools they can’t order any type of religious curriculum for you. You can purchase Abeka on your own, but you wouldn’t be able to use it for your main curriculum/samples. Let me know if you have any other questions about charter schools, I’d be happy to answer them.

@@KidsLearningforLife thank you so much for the reply, feel so conflicted with this , going charter would be great for funding but we love our abeka curriculum and the kids are doing great. In your experience , would it be possible to keep our abeka curriculum for language arts if we purchase it on our own and also do an approved vender by the charter and just turn in the approved content ? Or would it be too much for the kids. Thanks again , y’all are great 😊 love the content !

Always happy to help! I can only really speak for my charter since that is all I have experience with. Would you like to move this conversation to email (kidslearningforlife@gmail.com) so I can get more details to better answer your questions? We could also schedule a free homeschool chat (www.kidslearningforlife.com/homeschool-chats/) and discuss your questions that way.

Hi! Im a student, I don’t think my did any good when it comes to teaching math, most of the students in math class failed the quizzes the teacher gave us for math, mostly the math class in our school did bad. Now that we’re doing the CAASPP test for math and I think I suffered pretty terribly. What can I do?

    • @playeryoshi252

Although I absolutely crushed it in the ELA portion since I had a really good ELA teacher this year! Its just the I suffered very badly on the math portion of the test. 😅

I’m sorry you don’t feel like you did well on the math portion of CAASP. You can always try free programs like Khan Academy to help you learn any math topics you may have missed out on with your math teacher.

Thank you for the CA STARTING SMARTER website for practice with answers. It’s absolutely inexcusable that the state will encourage your kids to do 99 practice tests but they have no idea if they are doing it right. I am a college graduate and have done several of the practice problems that are totally ambiguous. Such a waste of money.

These tests don’t matter there for the school not you

they do matter, if you score high on math, in college you’ll be able to skip some math courses
