Have you ever heard of the trial of Madeline Smith, Scottish woman who was charged with the poisoning of her boyfriend? circa June 30-July 9, 1857 There was a black and white movie based on this trial, and you never found out if she was guilty or not! Great movie, did not see a book, except for the trial book. Loved My Cousin Rachel too. Richard Burton is great in the movie too. Read a Du Maurier biography, very interesting woman who had such an individual, original mind.
I so enjoyed your view point on this book. I also recently discovered Daphne du Maurier in the last few years and she has become one of my favorite authors. I enjoyed My Cousin Rachel more than Rebecca and also had many of the same questions that you had after finishing. This makes me want to re-read the book and see if I can pick up on any signs more the second time that I missed when first reading. I still can't say whether I think Rachel is guilty or not. Great video!
I want to listen, but I have to wait. This book is on my TBR. I love your energy and passion for her work. I'm moving it up the list! Thank you 💛
Hope you enjoy it!
You told the synopsis so well! Now I need to stop the video and read the book! Thanks for turning me on to this book. ❤
Hope you enjoy it!
My favorite discussion too! I love to talk books in depth.
Loved hearing your thoughts. This is the next day Maurier I plan to read.
Loved your thoughts on this book, I read it years ago so may need to revisit it. You did a great job describing it!
Yay, thank you!
