Correct! "Strike me roan" is a very obscure phrase from a small region of Australia in which Ray Meagher (Alf Stewart) met someone who used to say this. The more common phrase is "Strike me pink!" But the person in question would occasionally exchange "pink" for other colours when he was particularly exasperated. Roan is a kind of red colour. Ray Meagher liked the expression so he started using it while playing Alf and it became a catchphrase.
@@chokesmc Hogan's Ghost is a saying of unknown origin, first recorded in use about 100 years ago. Another one that was fading into obscurity until Alf brought it back! It's definitely a classic Alf-ism now. Some fans like to speculate that it's a reference to his wife Ailsa's dead father whom she murdered, as her maiden name was Hogan before Alf married her. That was actually a fake name though and her father's real name was O'Rorke so it doesn't quite work, but it's fun nonetheless.
