Home & Away - Shane Parrish (Dieter Brummer) first appearance part 1 1992

- First appearance of character Shane Parrish played by Dieter Brummer in 1992. We first meet Shane after he hitches a ride into the bay with Alf, who is of course suspicious of the newcomer. Shane goes to the diner to ask for directions to where his brother Nick lives then when he finds no one home, he breaks in & makes himself a sandwich. (see my other videos for parts 2 & 3)

RIP Dieter...these days were magical and we didn't even know it
Can't agree more!!!!!!!!
You'll say that about today in 20 years time.
Life in every decade isn't magical. There has always been bad news. There has always been tragedy in every decade.
It wasn't all good news all the time. People walking around with big smiles. Everyone skipping around whistling. 1990s wasn't like the happy life of Mary Poppins.
@@JordanPAT mmm!! I don't know about that one. I think that there's not much originality, we've done everything already, there's nothing that defines this decade/era😂 unless we'll look back and love the fact that it was so random and sporadic and trying to copy and paste other eras 😂😂
@@joemcconnell2674 well ofc because that's LIFE but every decade has something/ some things that you look back and can define it by. Pagers, Large curly hair, disco, cigars etc you know.
I'm 48 now but as a guy I really liked home and away back then with that cast absolute magic shane and angel brilliant dieter I cant BELIVE it a day later I still cant 45 is to young lord rest him thanks for the memories DIETER 🙏🙏🙏♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
that era 1995-1996 was the best, it just seemed to be perfect at that time. it was never that good again in the years after that.
The new era for a while has sucked.
@Marshall Carwood its a matter of opinion, we all have our own views on the best era. The era you mention to me was good (i wasn't a big fan of any of those characters you mentioned though, preferred Bobby) as i liked pretty much the first decade of the show anyway, but i liked the mid 90's the most.
I miss 90's Home and Away.
Rest In Peace Big Fellow... Will be sadly missed.. But never forgotten...
Ive always loved the incidental music in early Home and Away and how over dramatic it could be sometimes. At the 5min mark when Shane is helping himself to a self made sandwich, the background music implies that he is murdering somebody! I love it.
In another show, music used for a scene where a nuclear device is about to eradicate an entire city, could be used in Home and Away for a scene where they're arguing about biscuits.
Why was Shane helping that heavily pregnant slag carry her shopping?
It was 1995, I was a schoolboy. I was miserable and bullied at school, there were problems at home too, I wasn't happy. Every weeknight at 5:05pm I could escape and watch home and away and forget my shit life for a while. Neighbours came on later at 5:35pm but I preferred home and away. Shannon played by Isla Fisher was one of my favorites at the time and Ailsa in the diner and flathead fisher was great as the strict headmaster. I wasn't a huge fan of Angel but I liked Shane and I remember when Shannon tried to kiss him and tried to break him and Angel up. I also remember when Shane died and now Dieter is gone for real. Those mid 90's days seem like such a long time ago now.
I never missed an episode back in the 90s I’m in Sydney so it was ch 7 mon - Friday 7pm .. Shane was a great actor I remember when he died on on the show now he’s really gone 😥😥
Like you, I never missed one episode. Such sad news.
This was in 1992, I was 17 then, i was in year 12 and school was tedious, was counting down on a calendar till the final exams and end of school. Mum was a total beach, find a job! find a job..... I was moody, angry, spent time in my room. This is all 30 years ago, I'm a teacher these days, life isn't too bad.
@@tefllife2024 - I’m the same age as you then Oliver. 👍
So shocked at the news of his death! He was a massive part of my teen years! RIP Dieter 💔😥
My thoughts 💭 to sad news and another part of my teenage years gone.
Only realised he was the same age as Freddie Mercury when he died 45! Far too young to go.
Life was so much better back then. The world has been poisoned beyond all repair and people have changed, and I hate it. RIP.
Are you referring to social media and internet in general that has poisoned the world?
Too much fake with people now
@@wakingfromslumber9555 That's certainly a major part of it. But governments and this COVID rubbish are dividing people and turning them very nasty too. Not to mention climate change, propaganda in the MSM, over population, cost of living, capitalism which forces us to work like slaves just to scrape by and many other issues.
@@kateclague6471 Everyone is too busy trying to maintain an online appearance and glued to their phones, desperate for likes and validation. You go out with people and they spend more time looking at their phone than they do taking in their surroundings and interacting with others. It is sad and pathetic.
@@bigchief2331 don't forget the aliens from planet Zoombs who are controlling our minds and the nano chips in our bodies that track our every move every time we eat a potato.
Amazing how this shows up on my UA-cam homepage days after the tragic news. RIP.
RIP Dieter. I thought you did great on this show.
RIP Dieter, you were so beautiful
Ah, classic stuff! Home and Away is still big in Ireland, but for the first decade or so especially it was insanely popular. I was about 13 when this episode would have aired, and the Shane, Angel, Tug, Damien era was awesome to watch at the time! Always check back into classic Home and Away from time to time, and especially so with Dieter passing on like that. RIP to the man, and many thanks for the memories with the show and around my friends at the time.
Vale Dieter Brummer
Condolences to family
so sad and shocked he holds a special place in my memory for me as a teenager 😢💕
RIP Dieter, you will be missed, you were a great actor
Great actor. R.I.P.
Amazing how much Shane grew up over the 4 years he was on the show. RIP Dieter!
I can remember watching one of the episode's of home and away. When I was about 14 years young. This would of been the year 1995. Shane was a fantastic character. He was always having too much fun. I can remember when he was using a paint brush throwing paint at Damian. Rest in peace Dieter Brummer.
I'd forgotten how Shane entered the show. Thanks for posting!
Alf Stewart demands respect at all times. No exceptions!
.. Shane was acting like a right gronk!
Maybe Alf felt sexual jealousy towards Shane? You know, knowing that the local ladies would love Shane. Competition like you know.
“Strike me pink. That crazy g’lah’s bad news.”
The character Alf Stewart gets annoyed over nothing. All he was you don't know if you know his brother or not.
Lucky he didn't see the dungeon
Oh Dieter. 😪😪😪❤❤❤
I love this era
Just heart breaking! R.I.P. sweetheart! 💔
Miss u Dieter already.
R.I.P Dieter🌹
Forget how utterly dreadful this was. But also how much I loved it.
Still watch home and away now ,good times
RIP man
How dare he make a sandwich. The devastation of that kitchen bench with the appropriate music.
I think its the fact that he trashed the kitchen and was trespassing
S Stevens Why don’t you keep out of it pops.
Brings back memories.Used to enjoy watching these earlier days of Home&Away.Much better quality&actingr.RIP.Gone way too soon!
So heartbreaking to hear of his passing R.I.P
RIP brother❤️
I wanted to be awesome like Blake Dean and Shane Parrish as a kid. RIP Dieter, gone too young. My thoughts are with your family
Rip pal
Rip Shane 😥
RIP bro, Hard enough when we lost Shane parish. Now we have lost the real thing. Condolences to all his friends and family.
RIP 😭
So sad 😭 loved him r.I.p
Shane & Kane were the best, haven’t watched it since
RIP Thought Dieter back in the day was such a hottie and had his posters up on my wall. Loved watching him on Home and Away, so sad that so many young people are going well before their time.
He was gay in real life.
Was it depression or what?
@@Joecarer what proof is there he was even gay? Even if he was, so what, what's that got to do with him passing away so young?
@@pmacc3557 have been looking it up and haven't seen anything to do with depression or drugs? Time will tell what really happen?
@@mary2001kate yes thanks. The usual stories or references to depression have popped up on some posts
RIP Dieter, depression sucks.
How did he die ?
@@rbemuscle6058 suspected pill overdose, died in his sleep.
@@geraf33 ahh man that's soo sad to hear. I thought he died of natural causes 😔

I was so shocked to hear about his sad death:( R.I.P Dieter.💙🌈🙏🏻
Hi. I am looking for the rest of the episodes from 1996, up to after Shane's death, until 1997. Does anyone have them? now that Dieter has passed away, I would really love the episodes, to look back and reflect on an iconic character. Thanks in advance
92 .. didn’t realise he appeared not that long after the show first started
Alf is like the town sherriff. Flamin hell young fella, skip town before your impregnate someone.
Yeah flamin hell stone the flamin crows.
So evil in neighbours , the doppelganger of home and away shane showed his acting. range.
Awful tragedy. RIP Dieter.
Rip dieter..
Rip
Wow this brings back memories! Hope you found piece dieter, it's your right to check out, the world is a horrible place anyway, 40s is a good age to die imo
The girl that plays sophie is in neighbour's now
Isn't she Paul robinsons wife?
Flaming Alf

RIP Dieter Brummer
I believe that actor played Skinner in Neighbours around that time as well.
Ahh...the good old days...When this show was at its best. It had to be Alf to give him a lift:)....Tragic what happened to Dieter...he was same age....
Alf's Like The Don Of
SummerBay
Classic
this is totally history!! he’d eventually meet Angel and marry her!!! 🤙🏽
The Middle kid at 1.26, is he in neighbours now? Sheila's grandson?
how did he die ? meds?
Alf didn’t like that
Dieter morreu?
Shane was a good character but he turned too goody goody when he dated Angel. Shame, that he didn’t date many other characters. Good era of home and away however. Rip Dieter.
That’s the problem with fame , the world Loves your hot & dump you cold as ice when your not !
How did he die? In real life I mean?
They have not said yet. 🇬🇧 👍
Sounds like suicide.
