    Hell yeah. This is what I'm on about. The thing I like the most about this card is that it is both Low Profile & Single Slot. Can't say I've seen any 1650's cover both.

      It’s the problem. There are gpu cards that would outperform the 6400 pretty easy, like the 1660 series, but the are all full size and/or Dual slot, so not apliccable in an Ultra small form factor case. Really the card is a low end 1080p at best, and should really only be a 100-120 $ card. But as is, Its really the only low profile card that can put out a decent entry lvl gaming performance, even it is slightly overpriced. Its a good little system for not too demanding titles. Hell, I still have some weired issues with a 3800X and a 1660s in Elden Ring. I have no problem getting 60fps in 1080p but some weired horizontal banding is happening while playing. It’s both a cool game in some ways, but really shows Its made for consoles and some people have really many issues running it on a good pc gaming rig.

    What a killer combo.
    Love this build. I have been looking at single slot ITX chassis for ages thinking how cool it would be to put a GPU in there.
    Obviously ETA is right these slots are mostly meant for extending ports from the motherboard, but if it can fit a GPU you know someone is crazy enough to try it. And this came out PERFECTLY.

      @@tilapiadave3234 That's a pretty pessimistic view.
      There are some programs/applications that run very well with a little more CPU power. For example, emulating modern consoles at 1080p works VERY well with a modern 6 core processor, but doesn't need a massively overpowered GPU. So the build is perfect for light 1080p PC games and a console emulation rig.

    Hey, I know it's a long shot, but there's two games I'd love you to add to your test roster that can tell a lot about the different units you test out:
    1- For Honor. It's not the most efficient game, but if a PC can handle For Honor at 60fps(being a type of fighting game, FPS is extremely important), then most games were framerate isn't as important will likely run very well
    2- Halo Reach MCC. Being the most demanding "last gen" Halo game on the Master Chief Collection, it's still fairly easy to run on most rigs and would be a fantastic game to test on weaker builds that you normally would relegate to emulation machines
    love the content, either way!

    I think the rx6400 have only 4 pcie lanes, so using it in a pcie 2.0 computer would be no good idea. (that means 2GB/sec) compared to PCIE 3.0 x4 = 4GB /sec... and normal GPU:s with PCIE 4.0 x16 have 32GB/sec. So its probably only a good idea to use on PCIE 4.0 motherboards mostly.

    People are not brushing off the RX 6400 because it's a low end card. They are brushing it off because it is PCI E 4.0X4 which means to hit that GTX 1650 performance level you need a PCIE4.0 system, which iirc is intel 12th gen and amd b550/x570 none of which is cheap. So its a cheap gpu that needs an expensive pc to not suffer vs the 1650. Very few who can afford a pci-e 4 system will want a card like an rx6400. It's ill-conceived as a budget product in my opinion.

And only x4 with a lack a of 4K H.264/H.265 encoding and AV1 decoding capabilities. Talk about going backwards and I certainly would not begrudge paying the price as they always tend to go up but at least with a performance increase. At the very least it should perform better than a 5 year old GPU that cost less at the time and had more features..Sadly we are being taken for a ride as both AMD and Nvidia learned from the last two years we will pay more, much more if pressured!

    Definitely want to build a setup like this, awesome performance on a shoestring budget. Other than Elden Ring performance, it seems generally solid and for me anyway, it'd be a pretty big upgrade from what I'm running.
    (What the hell is up with Elden Ring's optimisation anyway?! FromSoft need to enable FidelityFX support for that ASAP if you can only get a solid 60 at 900p, incredible game but it clearly runs like dogs**t).
    Question - I know it seems unreasonable, but mostly for futureproofing reasons, do you think a system like this would see any kind of performance bump with DDR5 ram? I'd worry a little about a system like that falling behind and becoming obsolete a little too quickly 2 to 3 years from now trying to run new AAA games at 720p low...

    • @GhostAcez
      @GhostAcez 2 роки тому +3

      The only way to truly get a perfect 60fps at all times in Elden Ring is to buy a PS4 copy and play it backwards compatible on a PS5. I kid you not lmao. The PS5 and Series X don't have consistent 60. The old consoles don't get a consistent 30. And PC has bad stuttering issues which causes the frame rate to be inconsistent even if you have a seriously powerful PC.

    • @anarchicnerd666
      @anarchicnerd666 2 роки тому +1

      @@GhostAcez Yep, the frame pacing issues on PC are insane and I have no idea why they happen (though I did hear one theory that the frame rate and pacing issues were tied to the Simplygon rendering tech FromSoft uses in their engine for long draw distance). I'm playing on a base PS4 cos my PC doesn't meet the requirements - I'm happy enough, but it is ridiculous it can't hold 60 on PS5 natively, Series X or a 3090 on PC. And I have no damn idea why they haven't implemented Fidelity FX or DLSS to smooth out performance on PC, it's such an obvious fix but they haven't done it :(
      Though spare a thought for the people stuck playing the game on X1 of all the possible formats. OOF. 25fps at 900p with massively culled textures and ridiculous animation LOD's that slash enemy animation to 15fps if more than one enemy is on screen at the same time. Ouch. Least my PS4 mostly sticks to 30 (ish)

    • @GhostAcez
      @GhostAcez 2 роки тому

      @@anarchicnerd666 I've heard the issues on PC are due to a bad anti cheat software they used for it. I've seen some tests and ever lower end to mid range GPUs don't max out in the game but the CPU is normally working hard which people think is caused by the anti cheat software.
      How well does it run on the base PS4? Is it smooth? I've considered getting it on PS4 just because I don't want to deal with stuttering on PC and it seems graphics typically have to be turned way down on a lot of systems to get a consistent frame rate.

    • @anarchicnerd666
      @anarchicnerd666 2 роки тому +2

      @@GhostAcez I can absolutely believe it's due to the anti-cheat implementation, especially given the security issues just before launch and how lousy DS3 was with hackers and broken PvP. There's also the Digital Foundry analysis, and it could just be catastrophic shader pre-caching and horrendous DirectX implementation like they think it is. I don't think we'll ever know at this point why the PC port is so unstable, FromSoft just needs a new engine at this point I think. It's clear their old engine from as far back as Demon's Souls just isn't cutting the mustard anymore, especially given the sheer ambition of the games they're now making.
      On base PS4? Pretty good actually, I'm happy with it. If you've played Bloodborne, you know what to expect - 1080p native at 30fps with inconsistent frame pacing. The frame pacing seems to be less egregious than Bloodborne and DS3, it seems more stable, so that's nice at least. Visuals are pared back of course, but not excessively, it's overall art style still translates and remains cohesive. Expect reduced foliage, simpler shadows and if you have more than 8 enemies on screen at the same time, the most distant ones will update at 15fps to keep the framerate stable (you'd be surprised how hectic the game gets sometimes). The thing about Elden Ring, it's something that's be difficult to describe unless you've played it, but... Elden Ring is the game that will likely convince you graphics are irrelevant the longer you play it - art direction is the only thing that truly matters. My jaw has still hit the floor plenty of times during the game, it's visuals are utterly incredible. My advice? If you've got a rig that you're confident can run it at 1080p medium and be consistent, give it a shot - Steam refunds are a thing, you'll know if it's stable enough for you pretty quickly (you'll start seeing issues within the opening 30 minutes of the game most likely, just sprint through character creation once you've picked a class). If not? Get the PS4 version. It's perfectly acceptable and does the job nicely - it's stable and it hasn't crashed on me once nor have I run into any game breaking bugs, and I've got 300+ hours logged already. (Also, final tip - ARC and bleed builds are bonkers, try being a thief XD)

      @Ya-Yo Gakk I have 6400, a 1650 and a 3080. My 6400 on PCIE 4.0 gets pretty much the same fps on most games as my 1650. It's most definitely better than a 1050TI and blows the 5600G igpu out of the water. Using a single game to make your judgement is hilarious.

    I actually wanted to buy a new RX 580 8gb GPU (almost same price as the rx 6400) for my new mini desktop budget pc that's been build by a certain company in my country.
    But i got confused with the power connector cables and everything.
    Couldn't find the proper pins and connectors that are attached to the PSU.
    Just casual user here that finally managed to upgrade my steamdeck and ps5 internal ssd.
    But i went with the RX 6400 4GB because of simple plug in and replacing the Vega graphics inside the Ryzen 7 5700G.
    EDIT: Actually later on i kept looking inside the pc and understood how to connect a GPU with the PSU.
    But the mini desktop pc and RX 6400 are both very lightweight and not that power hungry.
    So it's actually perfect i didn't understood how to connect a GPU with power cable at first.
    For much stronger games (especially the ones asking more than 4gb vram) i'm using my series x and ps5 (with now built-in 2TB SSD)
    So my new mini desktop pc with Ryzen 5700G+RX 6400 4GB, 32GB ram and 2TB SSD with ChimeraOS will do the trick for my retro/emulation gaming purpose and indie/"retro inspired" games.
    ChimeraOS, AMD hardware and EmuDeck are like a dream come true for retro gamers.
    And with the RX 6400 i can now also play the "online playing infuriating raging" Tekken 8 on steam at 1080p with medium settings, FSR balanced. 60fps.
    Instead of tekken 8 at 720p low settings+amd fsr performance with the default Ryzen 7 5700G Vega graphics.
    But sometimes i did encounter some fps slowdowns, or at least fps dips with tekken8 at a certain stage.
    Warhammer Boltgun now runs at 1080p with default high to ultra settings. 60fps. sometimes dipping to 48 or something.
    Prodeus with default in-game settings at 1440P ran 40-50fps with stutters. At 1080p with default in-game settings it runs stable 60fps.
    I'm actually stunned looking at AMID EVIL running 1080p ultra settings, but utilizing 3.7GB VRAM.
    This is with SteamOS/ChimeraOS. No idea how it will run in windows with PCIe 3.0 motherboard. But i'll keep it console-like with ChimeraOS.
    About the PowerColor RX 6400:
    Was kind of worried about experiencing stutters with the PCIe 3.0 motherboard inside my pc. Because of certain user reviews i've read.
    Did have a quick black screen moment once pc boot-up and at ChimeraOS/steamos game modus screen. Weird, but oke.
    Just got the GPU and have not tested too many games at the moment.
    But for now pcsx2 emulation can be run at 1440p with nice settings and everything.
    I'm happy for now. Maybe later on replacing the GPU.
    For now i'll just keep collecting physical games for my switch and playstation game collection.
