  • Is the law of God binding on believers? Are Christians freed from the Ten Commandments? What is the relationship between Moses and Christ? Since the time of the Protestant Reformation, Evangelicals have emphasized the importance of a right understanding of the relationship between the law and the gospel. This emphasis is still needed today.
Tragically, the law of God has been neglected by many, and some churches even promote a gospel of lawlessness. While antinomianism is proclaimed by some, others preach the law with no mention of the grace of God, falling into legalism. Founders Ministries has been teaching a confessionally reformed and biblical view of the law and the gospel since 1983, and by God’s grace, will continue to do so. The need in the churches of God is as great now as it has ever been.
This panel discussion was held on December 6, 2019 at the Founders "The Law and The Gospel" national conference in Cape Coral, Florida.

In all this discussion I heard mostly that it's up to me to keep the law to be saved. From my LCMS background this sounds as a Roman Catholic discussion of doing enough good and keeping the law for salvation.

    Deuteronomy 4:2 ASV
Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish from it, that ye may keep the commandments of Jehovah your God which I command you.

These questions are great, but perhaps need to be broken into parts or narrowed. I always enjoy your ministry and I am truly thankful for it.

When you say positive law, do you mean the applied civil laws under the covenant of Moses? Or implications of moral law applied in certain areas? I’m not sure I have ever heard of positive law in that context.

Does God will (decree) sin? Does God ordain government? If the answer to both of these are yes, then the question of the Law of God and the state would seem to me to be one of necessity. That is to say, God cannot decree that which He ordained. So the standard which the state is to adhere to cannot contradict the moral law of God, which includes bothe tables. This does not mean the punishment need be that same as under Moses, but it does mean it is the standard.

You should invite a theonomist to discuss it so you can have a better discussion on the subject. The CrossPolitic guys, Durbin, Wilson, etc would do
