I've had my 2023 Volvo C40 Twin Recharge Plus version here in the US for a week now and absolutely love it! for a single parent it's a fabulous car with a sporty sleek look, great performance (I smoked a Tesla off the line the other day), comfortable, and fun to drive. I charge at home during off peak hours and it gives me plenty to last the entire day for whatever I have to do. Very happy with it, 3 Volvo in the family and there will be many more to come. Volvo is now my go to vehicle!

The model year 23 went out of production back in spring. Newly ordered cars use a more efficient motor setup and a larger battery for more range.

Ah good to know! Is that for overseas markets as it still can be ordered here.

@@chrisvanderstock I don‘t think you can order the old model year in Australia either, but there might be dealer inventory

There are a lot of MY23 C40 and XC40 available new or demonstrator. They are being sold for $75-76k plus ORC. The single motor MY24 version starts at $81k. The MY23 models are being sold at prices that are very close to the advertised price in March 2023. I was told by a local Volvo dealer that the MY23 XC40 and C40 were the same as the MY24 but he had a twin motor XC40 I could have today for a very nice price rather than wait for the one I ordered. A couple of points: 1 I ordered my XC40 in July and only now I get offered the twin motor version for a few dollars more (smelling BS at this point); and 2 The MY23 and MY24 models only look the same. There are so many differences that I would never settle for a MY23. If I wanted to do that I would have bought one on the spot

Great review. We bought a used C40 '23 model a couple of months ago for a fantastic deal with very little miles. Absolutely love it, not to mention it has all the safety features of a Volvo.

your recommendations at @6:50 were spot on and out of the MANY volvo xc40/c40 recharge content I've consumed, you were the first to mention it. Good stuff.

Great review Chris, I purchased the xc40 recharge twin ultimate my24 as a demo. I absolutely love it, but I have two issues, 1) the reversing camera is a Birds Eye rounded view, awful. 2)trying to set up profiles seems impossible, it gives you the option to have multiple profiles, but doesn’t appear to be able to handle more than one. Although as you suggest it is a bit thirsty, the range is pretty accurate.

Ive had mine for 34 months and never had a range issue - especially when you wake up each morning with a full battery. But if people are driving 2 hours skiing and back in one day, I think this might be a tight situation.

I think you'll find you're quoting gross vehicle weights, not tare weights. Makes a difference, but great review, thank you!

Love the one pedal drive mode, but it isn't the most efficient when on long drives on open roads. That being said, it is unneverving how the car drives with it off, since there is no engine braking like even in a petrol car, 5k lbs is alot of momentum to be carrying in the event of an emergency brake application.

Im pretty sure the 2460kg refers to a car fully loaded witb passengers. Otherwise the car should be around 2 tons. Otherwise great vid and impressions, thanks

Is the issue that it's $15k more expensive than the Atto 3 but not any better?

Not the same at all. That is like comparing (in the ICE world) a KIA Seltos with a Volvo XC40. One is mass market and the other is premium. A similar (if not larger) price margin exists there too. Personally, if I am going to spend that much money, I do not want it to be 'run of the mill'.

@@colossus_g It's near twice as much as the Fisker Ocean. Geely is simply NOT a premium brand. Certainly not to that extent. You might give it a 15-20% premium to Fisker and BYD

@@UTube-gs1yf I have not sat in a C40 but I assume it is the same as an XC40 which I have sat in. A Fisker Ocean ??? What is that? I have sat in a ATTO3 and I own a Polestar 2. It is chalk and cheese. The ATTO3 looks and feels at least 1 rung down on the 'classy' scale. Maybe 2 or 3 rungs down.
Geely also do Aston Martin. Are you also going to claim that is not a premium brand?

If I had to choose between that and a tesla, definitely any Volvo made before 2015. After 2015 they screw them up...
