Yes my late MIL wrote on a photo " at Aunt and Uncle's House- boy we had a good time" who are they? Don't recognize the house, don't know where it is- everybody who might know has died. Would give it to Their descendents if I could figure out who they are.

My great-grandmother from my mothers side died at 103 in 1988 or something... I’m 36 now so we technically lived a couple of years in the same time... I always wondered how cool it would have been to get to know someone who was born around 1885. I wish my older cousins and aunts had took the opportunity to record and register more.

You wouldn't necessarily get all the juicy stories and whatnot. My g-grandfather was born 1893 and he was a very sweet person whom I remember telling silly jokes and wearing suit pants and a button-down shirt even in his retirement. But later reading the printed stories about him I realise he was a child kidnapper! Yes, he was. Took my Nana's older sister from New Jersey to his cousin's ranch out west in the late 1910s because his wife was planning on baptising the baby a Catholic and he just could NOT deal with that. Hid away for several months and made that little point. Back in those days (and maybe even today) cops would do nothing - it's your kid, I guess and they didn't care what the mother was going through. Brought the baby home and presumably he got along well enough w my great-grandmother because Nana born in 1920. All of the kids were Presbyterians to their dying days.

A great-grandfather is NOT a "distant" relative. I know great-grandparents in their 80's who are still active and involved with their families. In fact, the ones I know RUN the families.

On my dads side there were abolitionists and one who fought against my 8th great grandpa on my moms side. Who was a slave owner and one of the founding fathers of America. (Robert Morris). My families came together in the end to have me and my sister. (My parents are divorced and their families can’t stand each other again.) but it’s cool how they started off on opposite sides of history. Came together and had children. And even moved states from Pennsylvania and eventually Texas around the same time as well. Just mind blowing

@Wubba Wubba Are we obsessed? I mean I know what you're trying to say.
Americans are living in my head because I'm here commenting on an American TV show.
reality is watch this channel on youtube for the british version, while I was looking for something to watch I came across this guy. Growing up I liked modern family, I liked him so I thought I'd give it a go.. and then I was hospitilised by the cringe. I commented on the experience I just had and that itself made me remember other overly dramatic americanised shows. So to imply that because I was commenting on something that was happening at that time for me as me being obsessed with Americans... you need to deflate that ego a bit sunshine.. no ones obsessed with americans... apart from americans.
