Unbelievable that 19 students felt entitled enough to overtake the President’s office & demanded the college take a certain stance on the issue. Who are they to make demands?

@@optimusprinceps3526 the students are the stakeholders of the university and they should have a say in how their tuition money is spent. Pomona has an endowment of 3billion, the highest per capita endowment of any college in the country but they are not transparent financially with the community that they serve. So yes, the admin can disagree with the students but they have refused to sit down and have a good faith conversation with their students or be transparent about how their endowment is invested. We had the same types of movements within our colleges over divestment and apartheid in S Africa and some colleges engaged with their students to discuss strategic choices and listened to student and faculty referendums, ultimately divesting and other colleges acted like Pomona ( well no one called in police during a peaceful sit in). Pomona had a referendum in the issue and had a huge student and faculty turnout and overwhelmingly supported the BDS referendum and call for ceasefire.
They're US citizens who get to exercise The First Amendment. You know, just another 'entitlement', right?

The College works for the students. The students and alumni are the College’s employers, dear. How can you trespass in a building that’s sole purpose is to facilitate your needs?
The police were dressed that way as a preparation mechanism. How do they know things won't go south especially when the group has made unauthorized entry to a part of the campus.
I like how they play victim now that they’ve had to actually be held accountable for something. No wonder they now demand the Prez be fired, they’re use to getting their way and how dare you say no to them! 🙄

Shame on the school, the students are correct, I support them 100% their goal is morally much higher than the a law for trespassing, school sounds paranoid. A lot of arguments from ignorance underneath mine, which is a shame.
