Nostalgia time: The first time I went to Mt Tsukuba was with friends from Ibaraki. It was January and the mountain was all snowed over and fabulous. When we go to the top there was, to my surprise, a little noodle stand. Three of us around a kerosene heater, eating well and with a remarkable view. 👍👍

Wow, this is so cool...after hiking up Mt Tsukuba, you can hit the hot spring with amazing views of Kanto plain! I’ve hiked up Mt Tsukuba a few times, but didn’t know about the open air hot spring on top of Aokiya. Looks amazing! I’d have to try that onsen now. Thanks for the vlog. A day trip to Ibaraki from Tokyo indeed offers a fun adventure to explore such as Mt Tsukuba (and onsen!), JAXA space center, Hitachi Seaside Park’s amazing nemophila/kochia flowers, world’s tallest Ushiku Buddha and scenic Fukuroda falls...just list a few!

I so appreciate that we can actually follow your timeline based on the color of your hair, call this, the late Hannah Green hair era. As opposed to the early Hannah green hair era, or the blonde/redhead etc. etc. era’s. Quick question, did you not get nervous hiking under those huge boulders just balanced above you? you thumb your nose at danger. You run naked on the roof. You swim in the male onset. You’re a very brave girl. and quite entertaining. and obviously fearless. that’s all.....

Hannah, I just discovered your channel, wonderful content. Funny, the older people are extremely fit, I remember an elderly lady passing me up on a hill in Shinagawa . They also walk up and down the stairs in the train station without holding onto the handrails while carrying a load in each hand.

I was on Mt. Tsukuba 2 months ago. Loool.....when i saw the rock temple shrine in your video. I miss it all. 😔😔
But on my way down there was like 300 8 years old kids walking up the rocky path with their teachers.
If i knew about the onsen that time. 😭
Also very very great day trip is Karuizawa and cycling around it in the forest cabins.
And a great view from an onsen is at a place near Kofu city called Hottarakashi onsen. Check it up. 👍👏👏🙂

The greatest onsen that I have been to was on Izu-Oshima. It's the first island south of Toyko Bay and is basically a volcano, Mount Mihara, that has a small caldera that predates the last eruptions in the late 1980s. At the caldera rim there is an onsen that overlooks the caldera, from where you can see the alien landscape formed by lavaflows. I think you might be able too see the ocean and even the new cone that formed. When I was there it was raining and a cloud was trapped inside the caldera. You couldn't see much but it created a very mysterious atmosphere. I was also the only guest at the onsen. It really was a magical experience. I also have a thing for volcanoes, in case you couldn't tell...

If there’s one mountain I recommend as a must climb, it’s Akadake of the Yatsugatake range in Nagano Prefecture. On a crystal clear day you’ll get a 360 panoramic view of the Chichibu range, Fuji, South, Central, and the North Alps. It’s absolutely stunning.
For those who can’t handle strenuous hikes, take the lift at the nearby Kuruyama Ski Resort. You’ll get very similar views.

In the early 1980s, there was a Mushroom Hotel very near there that I visited a few times with my parents as my father was working near there. I have not been able to find it on the internet, but you could walk in the woods around the hotel and pick eatable mushrooms. They hotel would then cook them for you.
