    I remember when i was doing my homework before buying batteries, that lithium doesn't do too well in the cold, Opted for 3x130AH AGM feeding a 1500w inverter with a B2B and 375w Solar panel on the T5 roof running through a Renoghy 40A rover li MTTP controller. Can't even describe how life-changing it makes your van mate. Good job.

    Handy to get your view on things.. I am doing a complete rewire on the parents van at Christmas, but I am keeping the 240v and 12v Completely separate so they will only get 240 when they plug into a campsite :-P.. All new wires arriving, bus bars, clamps etc.. Just need to get the battery isolator so I can switch the 12v system off if needed

    Awesome installation video mate! I would put breakers upstream of the fuses 5A less than the fuses. Breakers can be reset, fuses are a bugger to replace. You can also turn off the left or right system at the breakers. Other than that, check your alternator ratings. You can get heavy duty alternators if needed. Crack on Jake. Good show 👍

    And look forward to doing so for a long time to come.
    Just a safety heads up mate
    You need to put a fuse close to the starter battery on the cable feeding to the rear of the van.
    If something does damage that cable and it shorts to earth
    There is no protection and that cable will heat up and cause a fire.
    Stay safe mate and keep the vids coming

    A nice tidy job but have you got covers for those bus bars? A spanner falling across the two of them would be quite spectacular but would probably fcuk up everything you've done.
    Also, it's a good idea to secure the batteries to the floor with straps or something similar. If you have a high speed crash and the van turns over those things flying at the back of your head would do some damage.
    Have a bostin Christmas.

    You got the charging coming from the main battery and not the alternator? What stops the house batteries (excuse me, leisure batteries) from draining the starter battery when the engine is not running?

    • @ChristianMilesOnLine
      @ChristianMilesOnLine Рік тому +1

      The DC-DC chargers are sat between the starter and ‘house’

    • @JakesJourneyMate
      @JakesJourneyMate  Рік тому +3

      The DC-DC’s are only active when the engine is running as they only cut in & draw charge when they notice an increase in voltage to the starter battery :)

    Power 💪
    Couple of questions for you - could you not stack the batteries, to give you more underseat storage? Have you considered using/making battery heaters, given our current (no pun intended) cold snap, seeing as you are using LiFePO4 🤔
    Good luck with the rest of your build chap.

    • @JakesJourneyMate
      @JakesJourneyMate  Рік тому +1

      Intents to fit my inverter over the one closest to the front & the other gives me enough room for extra bits / circulation, those dc-DC’s get v hot :)

      @team-118 Рік тому

      @@JakesJourneyMate not a problem fella. As with every van build, we all need to plan ahead to save rejigging at a later date. That said, is any van build complete, once finished.
      DC-DC do get warm however remember that heat only rises 👍 I'd hate to see you lose a battery, when it's needed the most..
