I moved from that place and now live by the coast, now I have a 15 month old patterjack, this is rabbit country, she loves nothing better than the chase. Beautiful dogs.

A jack russle terrier saved my life one time!!!! My friend and I were planning on meeting up at lunch break when we were freshman. He forgot to bring his satchel of herbal medicinals and asked if I'd go to his house and climb in his window to grab it. I obliged asking him as he said his door was closed as he had 3 dogs the jack russle, a massive pit bull and a Shar Pei. They were all thoroughly trained in viciousness. So I walk down to his house and look in the window and it appeared to be closed. I climb on in and by the time I put my foot on his bed there's the 2 big dogs staring me down. I say hello to them and instantly the pit bull grabs ahold of my ankle and pant leg and rips me up a bit, and I couldn't do a thing about it because the shar pei was staring me in the face the entire time. He stops after a few seconds for some reason, and they both are starting me down waiting for me to move, which I didn't see how I could without getting ripped up pretty bad if not mauled to death. I was stuck as could be. Then suddenly the jack russle comes flying through the air landing on the shar pei's back and nips him right behind his ear. In one fluid motion he jumps from the shar pei onto the back on the pit bull while simultaneously nipping his head in mid air, bouncing on his back nipping his rear and then running out of the room. Both dogs immediately followed him out the door thus allowing me to close it, finish my business and leave without further incident. That dog was always my pal and I truly feel I owe my life to him. CHEERS TO JACK
I grew up with Jack Russell's and yes, they are so hard to get to stop when they're focused on what they want to do. Will bark for hours to torment prey out of hiding holes. If you have one that you haven't trained well and you try to tell it off, well it will tell you all about it 😂
My cousin has a chihuahua-dachshund mix, and only lets me and my cousin hold him. I picked him up, and just walked away. Didn’t know where I was going, it was just to test him.
Absolutely. My older one is unfazed in situations where our younger one is terrified. The older one, Lily, is highly protective and confident to do whatever she wants. Years back, when she was younger, she'd chase some larger dogs (safely) around while playing without the barking factor. Plus I've heard how a few of them have um... "handled" bears in the past. They're fearless and really expressive
There's also the guard dog aspect of a Jack Russel, they are aware of everything that is happening in there surroundings, and will let you, your neighbours, the whole street and maybe even your whole town know that there is someone there that shouldn't be lol fearless, energetic, curious and persistent, that is the JRT. For anyone who gets one be prepared for the sheer amount of energy in such a small frame.
truth. i went to watch a demonstration of mine after 3 months in intensive PP training and she rocketed nearly 6ft across a parking lot into an open car window at an assailant... I'd put a cape on it if was certain she wouldn't just eat it.
I love pit bulls. They’re perfect for anyone when trained properly. They can be lazy, active, very protective. They can be stubborn sometimes or hard to handle but once they get it they really get it
I have a Jack Russell Terrier and she's scared of so many things. Everything from wrapping paper, her metal food bowl and baking pans to things like bubbles, cutlery and books. She can also be scared of other dogs but we also have a Welsh Springer Spaniel and they protect each other. She'll put up this fake confidence where if big dogs come up to her and she doesn't like it she'll give out one sharp bark to seem scary, which I always think is funny because she's so tiny. She's around 5 kilos, but I've seen her scare away dogs the size of Saint Bernards. She loves sleeping in people's laps and will make herself comfortable on top of a mountain of pillows on the couch.
I’d put my vote on a Rhodesian Ridgeback. My grandfather has one as a farm dog/LGD and he’s wonderful. Only barks at people coming in and sits out at night watching for any invaders. He’s an extremely confident dog, happy to do his own thing and handle things by himself. He likes to follow us around and keep an eye out, but he’s not needy or clingy. Happy to sit away and come get affection when he feels like it. Doesn’t need heaps of reassurance from his owner/master and knows what he needs to do. Great dog.

Im convinced my friend’s JRT understand the importance of having the high ground. He climbs on things before barking a people when they enter the house, its hilarious 😂
I have an APBT and her confidence sucks, even though she knows I'm in control of situations, she still gets anxious pretty easily, thankfully never fearful, just anxious
Chihuahua Dauschund mix. In the time it took me to throw the trash in the dumpster and close the gate around the dumpster he'd challenged a racoon to mortal combat and won.
My Jack barked and growled during thunderstorms because my Irish Setter was terrified of thunderstorms. If it was possible for a dog to battle thunderstorms, I'm certain my girl would win.
Interesting note, american bulldogs were USED for fighting, but were family and farm dogs prior to that! They're friendly dogs, generally not very shy, but they're also called the nanny dog because they're gentle with kids- if they (the dogs) aren't abused.

Love that you put the Belgian malinois on this. We have one for our family that’s also a trained search and rescue and PP dog. She’s unfazed by anything especially when she’s in public with our girls or on assignment.
Wasted potential of a Belgian Malinois. Leave the search and rescue to Bernese mountain dogs and let the Belgian Malinois's be with the special forces like the sas and SBS
This is a little funny to me because my American Pitbull Terrier is the sweetest, silliest, anxiety prone little girl so I wouldn't exactly call her confident. And I have seen others online that have Pitbulls say the same.
I have a cross breed dog that is Jack Russell and French bulldog.. unusual mix, but the best damn dog I have ever had. She's very confident but also very chill.
Ohhhh yeah, we have a Jack Russel that lives at our daycare mostly due to the fact that he is so intense and reactive to things like cars and television. He will absolutely go off on any dog bothering him no matter the size, I think he's the smallest dog we let into the big dog group because he genuinely does not care. I have also heard of him doing things like attacking a car's bumper, and despite the fact that he's like 13, he's still pulling vertical leaps up to my chest, (4' ish) And frequently we will just send him over onto another yard to bark at whatever he's fixated on because nothing will stop him, and he can just go ham without bothering other dogs. D'mitri fears nothing and no one. He's absolutely insane, but we love him.
Our Jack teamed up with our Old English Sheepdog hunting mice under fresh snow fall. Snapping the necks on the mice the OES flushed for her. They made quite the pair!! Both great with babies and toddlers.
My Pitbull mix gets scared of alot of things and starts barking at animals and people that look dodgy. Her hairs stand up whenever she sees a squirrel, fox or cat and she goes crazy.
Glad you included jack russell, they really are phased by nothing, amazing personality but they're crazy little dogs who rarely back down, i currently have a jrt, sweetest goofy boy, but has literally torn his way through a wood shed to get at a rats nest, they're a lot of work when they have such high drive, they're also insanely fast so training is a must, and high energy need lots of enrichment
Can’t believe you didn’t mention Dobermans. They’re quiet confident beyond belief. I’ve seen them drop Pit Bulls attacking them like it was yesterdays news and not even break stride.
Adore Jack Russell’s spirit! Fierce little dogs with no fear. Growing up we had a couple but one little guy stands out. Living on a farm in South Africa means snakes are a real concern. Saw this fearless dog take on a Rinkhals (spitting cobra) and win. They are something else.

I have a 9 month old pitbull cross (we think she’s more Ed with another pitbull but unsure) and I would like to know more about your experiences with them. Having a JRT/Dachshund mix I can confirm.
Oh I love JRT and Doxies, I want one!
You don’t understand a JRT until you own one (they own you)
100% correct to give them a shout out!
They definitely love the camera as well 😂
Im convinced my friend’s JRT understand the importance of having the high ground. He climbs on things before barking a people when they enter the house, its hilarious 😂
@@BiglyChungus they want to look you in the eyes while they try to take you down haha….
ASTs are the way to go for me. My last AST was a guardian to my son. Loyal and very docile
So, thats what you call it? My little JRT is just confident. Yeah, riiiight.
Jack Russell terriers and ferociously aren’t words I’ve ever heard together
I have an APBT and her confidence sucks, even though she knows I'm in control of situations, she still gets anxious pretty easily, thankfully never fearful, just anxious
German Shepards can be depending on how you socialize as a puppy because if they aren’t socialized they can also be very reactive
Never mentions spaniels. Stand next to a firing gun and waits for the instruction to retrieve.
I'd add the kangal too. Never seen one buckle when confronted with another big dog. Just stands tall and stare the other dog down
Malinois are on a different level altogether
Got a Mali.... Had a Scottish terrier before.... He was just as focused and driven as she is. Bit a lot more folk too 😂😂 he was an out and out killer... Our Mali is super crazy good. My shadow. My all 😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️
You have to mention husky. My boy is literally fearless, totally fearless and will approach the biggest most aggressive dogs.
I used to own a Jack Russel for 12 years and I gotta say, it was the most confident dog I've seen, and he had a lot of character! I would love to own another, but I don't think it would do good because now I live in a small city where before I lived on a farm and the dog was free to run on the property.
Little story about my dog:
One day there was blood on one of the chairs. We looked everywhere to see where it came from, turns out, our Jug (Jack Russel + Pug) caught A PIGEON MID FLIGHT and ate it, the blood was the pigeon's
I would have to put akitas up there too. Any dogs breed to help hunt bears are not lacking in confidence.
The UA-cam channel Modern Malinois has shown me how extremely confident and strong willed the malinois is. Incredible breed.
true, but also very obedient and loyal to their family and their job duties
I love his videos. It’s crazy seeing what they can do together
I have 2 Landsharks, they aren't afraid of shit. They are litter mates, first Belgians I've ever owned. I have had mostly hunting dogs before.
@@Confederatehero1776 lol okay.
Central Asian Owtscharka and Cane Corso.... They are Machines.
i was surprised chihuahuas didnt make the list as much as they like yipping at everything that moves
I have also heard of him doing things like attacking a car's bumper, and despite the fact that he's like 13, he's still pulling vertical leaps up to my chest, (4' ish)
And frequently we will just send him over onto another yard to bark at whatever he's fixated on because nothing will stop him, and he can just go ham without bothering other dogs.
D'mitri fears nothing and no one.
He's absolutely insane, but we love him.
Arguably any working terrier breed could be in this list
I'll stick with my boy Boris a 110 pound rottweller who's got enough confidence for several Jack terriers
I had an Alaskan malamute and was the most confident dog I've ever seen
got a Jack Russel - will go after the horse.
Our Jack teamed up with our Old English Sheepdog hunting mice under fresh snow fall. Snapping the necks on the mice the OES flushed for her. They made quite the pair!! Both great with babies and toddlers.
Akita is overlooked by some for confidence, mine is truly fearless
My Pitbull mix gets scared of alot of things and starts barking at animals and people that look dodgy. Her hairs stand up whenever she sees a squirrel, fox or cat and she goes crazy.
King of confidence among all dogs is the Pekingese. They don’t care who you are…mess with their toy and find the fuck out…
Pitbulls are the dopiest animals I've ever seen. 9 times out of 10 they are meek, skiddish and most of all goofy.
Dutch shepherd is the most confident I've ever had. I have German shepherds Belgian malinois and dutchies now.
Can’t believe you didn’t mention Dobermans. They’re quiet confident beyond belief. I’ve seen them drop Pit Bulls attacking them like it was yesterdays news and not even break stride.
Only the European bloodline ones are the American ones are skittish. All American dog breeds have been watered down.
I'm with you on this, a Doberman oozes confidence, but get two or more together and they think they run everything
Real pits will fight to the death they have absolutely no fear in them, they would take on anything including an animal they have no chance again
I’m convinced now this guy has never hung out with a Boston. Bc confidence is their game
Wee big Jacks are a work of art . Great wee diggers with tickly feet
Lol awesome comment..i have me wee jack and i love him to death 💕
@@WaningGibbous some dogs eh , a lot of dog in a compact body , not for the faint of heart , not the dog that you pamper or treat like a toy dog , seen a few that are treated as dainty and soft and they had issues . They're working dogs never fat , solid fierce loyal and the nemesis to mice or wee scurrying things . They love hard playing vocal and happiest in your company going somewhere . When I say play hard I just mean a bit rough never to a point where you'd hurt them . Wee superstars
I have a Beagle who I think is the poster dog for ADHD, but once he focus's on something that is the only thing that matters. Fears no dog or cat. I have never seen a more friendly and personality in any other dog.
I have four Tibetan mastiff two female to male and I find them to be extremely focused very trainable but tremendous amount of work
Grew up with Jack's. Best dogs ever
I’m glad you finally said anything about pit bulls but I would love you to cover them more. I have a 9 month old pitbull cross (we think she’s more Ed with another pitbull but unsure) and I would like to know more about your experiences with them. She is the sweetest thing in the world but actually lacks confidence sometimes and is nervous around other people as much as I’ve tried to socialise her but is too chaotic around other dogs as she just doesn’t listens
I love Jack russels :) grew up with them
I have a Belgian Malinois name Axis she smart and fast and loving but she's fearless and ferocious and I love her to pieces
My jack Russel (Bandit) is a pure bread, and his parents lived on a farm for ratting. He is absaloutly obsessed with his rope and ball. Seriously, you could have a plate with beef, or his ball next to it, and he'd rather have his ball. When he is bored of his ball, he gets his rope and starts shaking it round like a rat, trying to kill it. Should defo take him to a ratting farm, and let him run free..
god you're so right about jack Russell's,, if I'm playing with mine, she won't focus on anything else other than making sure her ball is thrown again :))
I would’ve out an Akita there - almost unflappable
You really should have showed a picture of an American Pitbull Terrier instead of a mixed breed
