I’m so looking forward to the one-piece videos! Already got mine w/ power regulators pre-ordered and two down to bare metal doors with ongoing body work/rust repair in the garage. Definitely want to watch you do it, first!
Does anyone know what’s the difference between 80-83 and 84-87 conversion kit? My truck is a 84 and seems that the kit is not available would I be able to use the 80-83 kit ?
What about the gas tank? I have a 16gal tank in my long bed, will I be able to use that with the existing brackets or do I have to order a new one for a short bed?
I just picked up an 84 Long Bed my question is with this kit if i already sourced out a short bed and short bed driveshaft instead of cutting my longbed and long bed driveshaft would that short bed and shaft bolt right up as well?
@@lschopn Ima end up putting a 6.0 on mine but I’m doing all the suspension work done first. For converting it to a short bed, you’ll need a shorter drive shaft.
Just got an 87 log bed today. What is the exact length bumper to bumper? It’s at a buddies house. Reason I’m asking is because it might not fit into my garage haha
This kit works on 3/4t trucks as long as you DO NOT have the 8200 GVW on your tag as shown in this pic: images.holley.com/ltsc38773-75_08.jpg If your truck has this GVW tag it will not work because your frame is actually manufactured from THICKER steel than a normal 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck.
I don't think I need to buy a new gas tank is going to be at same place as the old one im doing my short bed conversion now im bout to cut my truck frame
Naaa , this is complicated as hell ,, just cut at the end of bed and thats it . Cut bed and then frame about 6 inch and then weld it and you don't have to do all this bs , lve done it before so.. It be easy if you cut with the plasma do lol
This channel and Dave are the best in the industry🏆
Thanks for the feedback and for watching!
Looked for something like this for my dad's old truck about 3 years ago no luck
But now it's do-able love it
Awesome ideas and easy kit to install, I’m still a long bed guy! Thanks David.
Impressive. Well engineered templates just like used building commercial aircraft.
This is best tech channel in youtube👍👍👍
Thanks for watching!
Dave, you have knees of steel! Love the video
You guys making each for anybody, great job
Just finished mine and I couldn't be happier with the results, or the kit.
Excellent! Thanks for the feedback.
Hey just quick question did you need to replace the drive shaft because of it being shorter
@@alexcamarena7555 you would need to take it too a machine shop that lengthens or shortens drivelines

After the short frame conversion how is the bed shortened or does it require finding a short bed to buy?
Would love to see a video on leaf springs to coil springs conversion.
Thanks for the suggestion!

How short do we need to shorten the drive shaft?
Nice work, thanks

You'll have to switch to a shortbed tank.
Great video! Does anyone know what color is this blue truck?

@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV I also have a c10 long bed. I was wondering if I should LS swap the engine+transmission or make it a short bed first.

It's not on our list, but anything is possible. Thanks for the suggestion!
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV you already have the frame and bedside video. It would make a perfect series!

How do I know what fuel tank will work?

Roughly 208" - 212" depending on what rear bumper it has.
@@BROTHERSTruckPartsTV looks like I need to shorten it first! Lol thank you
Do you need a new short bed for this or can you modify the long bed into a short bed?
You can modify your longbed into a shortbed. We have a video on that to help you out.
Will this work for a 1984 Chevrolet K10 1/2 ton pickup
Can I use this kit on a 1981 GMC Sierra Long bed?
Would this work for a k10 too. Not sure if the frames are different at the rear
Great wheels on your truck. Tell me where you bought
Thanks
These wheels are GM steel rollers that are used sometimes on the newer Tahoe, Denali and Suburbans during transit from the factory to the dealer.
I wish Dave had a twin brother that did Fords. I assume he'd have a goatee.
That's funny!
Is this only for half tons? Does it reduce the payload specs and if so how much?
This will also work on MOST 3/4t trucks. It does not reduce the payload unless you also intend to change the suspension parts to 1/2t pieces.
I'm considering doing this to my 84 c20 long bed but it's an 8 lug, do you guys sale a 5 lug conversion kit or know the easiest way to convert?
Easiest way to convert is to swap all the front end parts (ball joints, tie rods, etc) for 1/2t parts and then swap the axles for 5 lug pieces.
Do you buy a short bed or cut the long bed and make it a short bed?
How much would cost something like this
does the template work for a crew cab as well?
No sir, sorry!
Will this kit work on a 1977 C20 Bonanza? 3/4 Ton 8 lug...
I hope they will make a kit for a c20 1974 crew cab
Is this kit compatible with a 1977 C20 3/4 Ton with a 6 inch frame (measured top to bottom). If not compatible, why not?
This kit works on 3/4t trucks as long as you DO NOT have the 8200 GVW on your tag as shown in this pic: images.holley.com/ltsc38773-75_08.jpg
If your truck has this GVW tag it will not work because your frame is actually manufactured from THICKER steel than a normal 1/2 or 3/4 ton truck.

Why won’t it work with a GVWR of 8200 or greater ?? I thought all the frames are the same ???
Will it work on 3500
Hi! My C20 has 6400 GVW as manufactured and 8200 max capacity. Would the kit work?
I was asking the same thing mine is 8200 I don’t get why it won’t work ? If the frame is different or what
how much do yall charge to do this?

This is why I don't use purchased kits. I just " borrow materials " from work an fab everything my self.
So if U can use this to make a short bed frame U can use this to make a long bed to or NO U can't ????
No you cannot. This kit only helps remove from the frame and has no provisions for adding to it.
I love long beds alot better
A lot of work, think I’d rather just buy a short bed
Lol it’s cheaper to buy a long bed and convert it. Short beds are far more sought after
