    I just wanted to say thanks for watching everyone, I can't believe how well this video was received. Within a month it is about to be the 2nd most popular video in our channel, passing up other videos that are a year old. So it is by far the fastest growing video in the channel, AND I SHOT IT WITH MY PHONE!!!! That is nuts lol. I have been wanting to get some fancier camera gear but this really does show that I should just shut up and go shoot!

      Hello from far and cold Russia, brrrrr! Phahaha) Actually speaking, the footage was made on a very decent technical level, so I was very surprised why u have so few subscribers :O I thought of numbers like 100 000 or something like that. Anyway, I hope u'll answer my questions, when I finish watchin' :P Seeing rust under the hood of a d1 car is frustrating...

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  8 років тому

      Thanks! As to the rust, my drift cars have rust hiding in places too, I just want to drive them, and don't think they will last forever so don't worry too much about it. Plus this place is an island. That has to be bad for rust.

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  8 років тому

      It is an island, stuff is going to rust I assume, I don't know how they could stop it! As to our subscribers, we aren't great at advertising ourselves lol, but we love making videos!

    Video is 4 years old but I enjoyed it, thank you. I used to "drift" in 1960's and 70's sedans and wagons. 1973 thunderbird was one of the best handling especially on gravel and dirt. I would enjoy going there sometime but do not think it is in the finances right now. hope you are staying safe!

I am going to head back in the fall with a dedicated media dude and try and capture the spirit of the Matsuri for the channel : ) As well as a bit more of the process of Power Vehicles and how it works. at 29:26 you are looking at a laurel saying this is what missile cars look like talking about what foreigners do to them, putting the stickers on, "they are pieces of crap" "too cheap to buy parts" this car was owned by one of our local drifters here in Australia Brendon Mansfield ... who also happen to win the G1GP series last year in his new missile jzx100. You shouldn't talk crap about people you know little to nothing about, was enjoying the video right up until that point, drifting is about fun not critically analyzing everything you walk past, you seem so oblivious to anything outside your own world.

    • @benpedder
      @benpedder 8 років тому +2

      +1 was enjoying until started talking crap. let highly skilled drivers have fun and don't put people down regardless of their car.

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  8 років тому

      Just because that laurel is a piece of crap is not a reflection of anything bad about the driver! A missile car at Ebisu is not a reflection of many people, they are disposable fun cars that get raped and abused! Also, we make fun of EVERYTHING on this channel lol, we don't take cars too seriously. I recently went over to Australia and made a video too, I had an awesome time!
      ua-cam.com/video/y7EzgvHwcrM/v-deo.html
      Also I don't think Brendan owned the car at this point, it was owned by a German the day before this video was taken, and it was sold for 900 dollars by the German dude to a random Matsuri driver that already has a car at Ebisu as a new joke car. He took it out and immediately wrecked it pretty hard having fun with it as it was a throw away fun car.
      Anyways, we are just light hearted silly drifters that destroy cars over here! Thanks for watching the first 29 minutes!

    This is such an awesome video Aaron! So much more detailed than any other Japan trip I've seen from other drifters. This channel just keeps getting better and better and is becoming my favorite drift channel to watch on UA-cam. I hope that I can get my car out to Texas to have some fun with you guys. Lone Star Drift is much more fun and well run than Top Drift is. Top Drift is boring and all about competition, you guys are all about fun, which is how it is in Japan and that's how it should be. Funny that Texas, the heart of America has some of the truest form of drifting! Hope to meet you guys soon! :D

    It's pretty ironic that this place which is like heaven on earth for drift/racing enthusiasts would have one of the most tragic zoos that I have ever seen lol. They ought to just send the animals off to some other facility and then use the space for more car/parts storage or parts vendors or something.

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  7 років тому

      I am just curious, this is not an argumentative question, but do you eat meat? I am just curious if people that hate the zoo separate zoos and zoo animals from other animals that they eat when they think about animals compassionately

    • @BuzzzdLightyear
      @BuzzzdLightyear 7 років тому

      Lone Star Drift I do eat meat and I do agree that it is also ironic that someone who would eat meat, would also try to argue for the wellbeing of a zoo animal. I don't have anything against zoos per se, just ones that are run down like this, as It seems like the conditions are pretty miserable for the animals.

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  7 років тому

      Yeah they look pretty miserable. I was told that at night they put the tigers and stuff out in the Safari Park to run around, and that the cages are their daytime displays. I don't know anything about that, but I was told it isn't nearly as bad as it looks, it is just that we can't see the rest of their routine.

    • @BuzzzdLightyear
      @BuzzzdLightyear 7 років тому

      I was just thinking of how much a shame it would be if they were shady about it, but I do hope that what they say is true. I certainly don't have a reason to believe otherwise since the track owner and all the staff seem like fantastic people.

    That zoo is pretty sad to see, but what can you do? Is it owned an operated by the same people? Also, I agree with you on how there probably couldn't be a place like Ebisu here in the states because of all the liability, even though it's my dream in life to own and operate a facility like it. Japanese simply think about animals differently than we do in the USA. 100 years ago we thought about animals like we do, and our zoos and circus were just as bad at treating the animals as they are. I simply don't think they associate animals as having feelings or being sentient creatures that can suffer, or that they should care if they do.

      +190emerc Yeah we played around with pressures from 30-90 depending on the track and what we were doing, and I think at one point we went all the way down to 20 psi. We tried the 123S, ATR Sport 2, and another tire called all numbers that was supposed to be less grippy. They all delamed on our car and most everyone else's at the track on that track. The tires are made for tons of grip though, and so I don't expect them to last super long. I just want a million laps at Ebisu when I go, so I don't really want to drive on Achilles necessarily. The are a great tire for a different use. They make blisteringly fast comp tires which make FD cars rocket ships!

    Honestly one of my favorites channels on YT, plus you guys are in TX I'm too lucky thanks for the awesome content Aaron! I know you get this a lot but what enthusiast cars would you recommend for a young man that's releasable and fun?

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  8 років тому

      +Savior Styles Thanks for the kind words about the channel! As for car choices, I am a 240sx guy, but god they are so unreliable, old and over priced now. Plus they make terrible daily drivers compared to other stuff for similar money. Bang for the buck the best import/fun car which can be drifted right now is the 2007-2008 350Z in my humble opinion. Not everyone might agree with me, but I have had probably over 70 vehicles now, and over 35 drift cars, ranging from 240sx, viper, 350z, skyline, jzx100, mustang, and on and on. Most of those I have had multiple of too, of each generation they had. The 2008 350z is such an amazing bang for the buck, incredibly reliable, fun, just enough power, cool body style, RELIABLE, etc. That specific year is so good, you don't need to do much at all to the drivetrain other than an LSD, coil overs, and fun wheels and that is about it. No turbo kits, built motors, engine swaps, transmission swaps, deleting the AC, any of that junk. You just buy it and drive it. With an S chassis you just dump money into this stupid car that cost you a grand to start with, and before you realize it you are 20k into the damn thing. A 2008 350z can be found in decent shape for 8k if you are patient, or even less if you get something with a few dings. And I can't speak highly enough about them. My newest toy is a 2011 5.0 Mustang, but they are still too expensive, heavy, need HUGE wheels to look cool, and have lots of silly problems like that the 2008 350z doesn't have.
      On a side note the 2007-2008 350z has an upgraded motor and is a much better model than the earlier 350z. However if you are super budget conscious, a 2003-2005 350z can be found for 2-7k pretty easily. I see them constantly on craigslist in manual transmission form for 3500-4000 before you even start negotiating. And remember, don't modify 350z too much, you defeat the amazing reliability and simplicity of the car!!! I like to drive, not work on the darn things!

    Amazing video, really nice capture of all things happening up there in Nihonmatsu.
    The only thing letting me down a bit is how you look down on the whole missile thing as not everyone's able to afford a pristine car with decent parts which is stored half across the world. Drifting can be enjoyed in so many different ways, missile cars are the perfect solution to attend Ebisu on a budget and have their right to exist if you ask me.
    But that's just my two cents, keep those videos coming really enjoy watching anything grassroots drift related coming from Japan.

    how much was your car? loved the video man, im planning on going to ebisu in a few years when i can save up and plan for the trip. would you recommend going during times like this, where there arent many people and you get alot more seat time, or would you say go for the matsuri to get the full experience? i plan on buying a car and keeping it there like you and then visiting at least once a year. ive looked into power vehicles alot and their prices for things and its an amazing place. Cheers bro keep drifting!

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  7 років тому

      I would:
      1. Go during a Matsuri, hopefully be at the track for several days before and after the Matsuri. I would suggest something like 5-12 days at the track if you can afford it.
      2. Go through power vehicles for your car. Tell them Aaron says hi from Texas!
      3. Mine was 800000 yen I think, but at the time the exchange rate was amazing, so I think it was more like 6500 USD.
      4. I have a newer video in the channel that shows Deon and Fielding buying a cheaper car for 3500 USD, an R33 that worked really well. Get something simple, not too modified, you want it reliable as possible, with just enough parts to make it work like a diff and coil overs.
      5. Ask me any other questions you have!

    • @hambix1032
      @hambix1032 7 років тому

      Thank you for such a quick reply. its sometimes hard to get a reply at all! i just found out about your channel and i love it so far. i was thinking going before would be smart to figure as much out as you can. the trip will definietly be at least a week long if not more. im definietly going through power vehicles, seeing as its a one stop shop, and you can keep it there for like 50 bucks a month or something. amazing! im definietly going to get something thats over 5000 usd, just to save myself some work to do there, and to get some upgrades. my other questions would be:
      1. how much are the plane tickets normally? and from looking at the map, ebisu is nearly 4 hours away from tokyo, so where do you fly in?
      2. are there a few different tires to choose from? or are there normally just one type and thats what theyve got. and do you remember how much they were a set?
      3. how much were those wheels you got/how much would a wheel be? not anything special, but not the cheapest steelies you can get. and would you reccomend 17s or 18s.
      4. how hard is it to transition from drifting in a LHD to RHD, seeing as ive never driven a RHD. Only thing that seems weird to me is left turns, and it will take some getting used to driving on the left side, but not so far that your passenger side tires are off the road!
      Im sure i could keep asking questions all day, but hopefully you can give me some ballpark answers. I know its not a cheap trip at all, but once i get it figured out about how much it will cost, minus the car, i can start budgeting for it! Thanks Aaron

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  7 років тому

      1. I fly into Narita and get a rental car online and pick it up. Plane tickets have ranged from 450 round trip to 1800 per trip, but this year they have been between 450-650 round trip, as fuel is cheap for the airline companies I guess.
      2. They typically have one brand, and you have no control over that, and then a few sizes that will fit S Chassis and JZX chassis well. They will have all those on hand for you. I run 18 on my car, but it would be smarter to run 17 lol.
      3. You can grab cheap knock off wheels for 160 a piece I think from PV in the sizes you need, or you can head to up garage, 20 minutes away and buy stuff, which oddly never worked out for me, they never have anything I want.
      4. Some people pick up RHD super fast, some don't. I can't say how fast you will, but the older the person it seems it is harder for them. Regardless you will have a great time.

    I'm sure its not but, Is it just me or does the vehicles at Power Vehicles seem expensive? Espcially just to buy and drift for a week or so? Has to be a cheaper way? Awesome video! I think ive watched this video about 4 or 5 times now. A dream to get there one day!!

    • @LoneStarDrift
      @LoneStarDrift  7 років тому

      I honestly don't even know how Power Vehicles functions as cheaply as they do, they are CRAZY cheap. They basically made a couple grand selling me a car they also had to prep to get ready for the track in that price. Then they have to keep track of my car forever and provide me with tire changers and storage and everything FOREVER in that price?!?!?! I pay 50 a month to store it, but that is about all!!! They ship and store my tires directly to the track, they dispose of my tires, they do everything. I don't trailer my car to the track, I don't have a truck, I don't do anything hardly, except pay for labor which is way too cheap when I break it. They changes clutches for 250$ labor. I honestly hope they don't go out of business they are so damn cheap! HUGE SHOUT OUT TO MY PEEPS AT PV!!!!!!

    • @DamnBadGamer
      @DamnBadGamer 7 років тому

    Pretty cool video,
    But snooping around and in peoples cars like that was odd. Popping someone's hood, and being super judgemental on peoples missile cars was kind of fucked up. Who cares if its a beat up missile, its not your missile. Hands off bro.
    I love ebisu, its all about the seat time, no matter what. I'd rather see missiles killing it, than a beautiful build tip toeing around.
    That being said, its an awesome video. My adventures probably won't take me to Japan, so its nice to see what ebisu is like at length.
