I think a big part of it too is the way that a song from a game or musical can bring all the emotions it made you feel throughout the whole thing come rushing back. FFXIV is always going to have a special place in my heart bc of that.
I got the game when Shadowbringers had come out, so i didn't spend all that much time hanging out at ishgard, but that music really is strong. And on top of that, the story when you get there is about rebuilding yourself, the scions, and then the city itself. Lots of very powerful emotions around that start of Heavensward!

yeah plus the way Soken makes such good use of leitmotifs in his soundtracks also really helps his music deliver on those emotional ties to the story
