"Song for a Dreamer" is a tribute to late Jimi Hendrix from Trower, who was stunned by Hendrix's death in September 1970 at the age of 27.
This was probably the first Procol Harum record I came across years ago and it also marks a transition from the last of their more classic blues/rock albums to a more progressive sound, they changed to a symphonic/progressive style for the next albums Grand Hotel and Exotic Birds and Fruit which are both great. Also the last album Robin Trower did with them (until Prodigal Stranger in 1991) before he started his solo career with The Robin Trower Band which debuted the album Twice Removed from Yesterday in 1973.

Saw Procol at the time this album was released . They were great as were the two support bands Terry Reid and Stone the Crows . This is my favourite LP they made along with" Home " and" Exotic Birds" .

What? You don't like Shine on Brightly or A Salty Dog? I loved them but had to stop listening after Matthew Fisher and Robin Trower left.

@clouddog2393: Seen Procol Harum at the old Eastown Theatre in Detroit around 1971. On the bill was Trapeze~J.Geils & Procol headlining. This was some show for $4.50 haha. Trapeze was a super solid rocking outfit, and i went to the second show the next day because of this band. J.Geils smoked the audience to a crisp and blew the roof off in the process. This is when they weren't a household name and were blowing everyone in sight off stage. It was very soon that Geils went to Headliner status. With Procol being the main act, they had to follow a frenzied hair brained wound~up audience of freaks. The roadies took their time setting up the bands equipment to mellow the audience. There really wasn't anything to worry about on Harum's end, Detroit loved this Band!!! When the lights finally dimmed for the start of Procol's set, Gary Brooker*(R.i.P) said..."J. Geils put on a helluva show, but we're going to give you your moneys worth''. And that they did! Those were some good times back then, no curfew and zero hassles once you were inside that old vaudeville theatre.

PH was beauty, message, violence and dream, but above all the powerful instrument of a great will. They said "I want" when many others mumbled "I would like" He achieved his goal without complying with the slightest compromise, like a plow hung on a star. Once and for all, these guys traced their way and never moved away, refusing any compromise that makes popular music today a weary prostitute🔥✨
