This is a much needed discussion in the Christian community. One of my elders made a valid point you should be able to look at a Christian and know that they're one but now everyone is blending in. And this goes beyond clothes this goes with our lifestyle, our partners, our lustful desires, our lack of faith etc. i really enjoyed this video sis! God Bless you

I love that you did this video! I feel like as Christians we shouldn't be afraid to address things. I'm SICK of this "illusion mesh/basically naked" outfit frend. It started off cute but it's too much lately.

I really enjoyed this video! God has really pressed modesty on my heart and shown me that modesty is a Fruit of the Holy Spirit. And modesty is a product of purity in heart. Thanks for sharing this message!

I feel like dressing modestly for me just make me feel more connected to God. I'm loving myself in the best possible way, PLUS I'm showing God how much I love Him in return because of my obedience. I do want to use my influence in a Godly way!

I wish there was a love button!! God has been guiding me towards dressing modestly and knowing that I am beautiful because He says I am and not because I am getting attention. Everything you said is true, thank you❤

I'm a Tridentine Catholic and the church I go to has a dress code, not just for church but for everyday life at home or wherever) and that the women need to wear skirts and dresses that are longer (cover the knees when sitting down) and tops and dresses that aren't sleeveless....but they cover our shoulders and don't any cleavage. I started going to the church I attend when I was 19 years old, 35 years ago, and at that age (19) I would come home from church and put on a pair of jeans and tee shirt because back in the 1980s longer skirts didn't seem to be in style and I felt self conscious of wearing the dresses I had out in public. It seems that the times really haven't changed for young women though I find there are a lot more modest skirts these days that are in style. To be honest, I couldn't make it to church in 30 years because of distance, and though it's always been in the back of mind to dress in longer skirts and dresses I didn't start to do so until about 1-1/2 years ago. (I actually bought some nice modest dresses about 6 years ago but lost 90 pounds so I hardly wore them.) Now I only wear longer modest skirts and tops and have for a year and a half for many reasons, a lot pertain to God. I'm also 54 years old now and not 19 so I'm sure that's why it's so easy for me now. I understand why young women find it hard to dress modestly and there are so many factors surround it. I wish all women, young and old, the grace to dress modestly and go feel comfortable in doing so.

Absolutely! Amen! It's so much going on right now even in churches and as believers. I'm throwing out my whole wardrobes and covering up. I feel so secured with God since I stopped dressing a certain way. Have to get rid of this Jezebel spirit. So many believers not even willing to change the way they dress that will draw focus off them. You only make yourself a Idol for someone to worship. I use to love showing of my boobs and find out that we also worship ourselves and what we know someone will lust after. I'm so glad that God convict me and changed my whole way of thinking. Let's keep our temple clean where the Holy Spirit can dwell in. The closer I am Jesus the more I love the way God created me to be. When he created me he saw it " very good".

Salamu alaykum/Peace be unto you. What a beautiful message. As a Muslim woman, I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed this video. It was refreshing to hear a Christian woman express herself this way about modesty. I am an American Latina who by the favor of Allah (God) converted to Islam at 30 years old. As you may probably know, modesty is a huge aspect of our faith in Islam. Being Muslim means “someone who submits to the will of God”. Thus, every aspect of our life in Islam revolves around pleasing our Lord by choosing and following what He would best wants for us. In Islam, the concept of modesty extends to all areas of our life; modesty in our dress (not showy or flashy), talk, walk, interactions with others, even how we eat and certainly how we view ourself, etc. Something I have come to learn as a Muslim is how the Abrahamic faiths (Judaism Christianity and Islam) have much of the same basic principles and moral teachings. In fact, you study each faith at their origin, we find that basic princes and moral teachings are nearly identical across each Abrahamic faith. The only difference is, with the passing of time, some religions have been altered or changed. This has not been a result of authentic religion, but rather the influence of culture (particularly Western culture for Christians) imposed on religion. Thus, any changes to Christianity (at it’s origin) have been innovations that have no religious basis. In fact, I would say that for a majority of Christians it is difficult to distinguish as to whether certain practices of their faith today have religious basis/origins or cultural ones. Even early on for example, the Roman Empire had a huge influence on Christianity in ways that affected and altered teachings and tenets of Christianity. Thus, I strongly encourage all brothers and sisters of the Book (fellow Christians who believe in the revelations of the the Old Testament and Gospel like we Muslims do) to study their religion closely. As you say, as believers, we do not need to take what this world gives us, and in studying the true origins of our religion from the beginning, we attain knowledge and become enlightened in the best way that will (by the will of God) guide to the straight path. May the peace, mercy and blessings of Allah continue to befall you sister.

You are beautiful sister, and you are loved of God, i pray that His spirit who gives life, will shine upon you to the truth. I would be happy to share, NOT argue with you on why the only way to the Father is through His son Jesus, please note that am not trying to discredit your belief or anything, all I know is that Christ came that we ALL should have life and not to condemn us,and I know that not just coz I read a book or that I was taught that, but because God's spirit is ALIVE in my life.

Thanks for sharing sis because this definitely hit home for me. It's so easy to get caught up in the trap of following all the current fashion trends that we lose sight of how God wants us to carry ourselves including how we dress. I watched your UA-cam video on this topic and I wanted you to know that I wish more Christian young women believed and lived the kind of life you are talking about here. Thank you for posting this video and I pray more young women see your message. In a time where God seems to be honored less and less and self gratification honored more and more, you are a refreshing delight to watch and I'm so glad you want to honor God in your life. Be blessed. I don't even know you but I am proud of people like you. God watch over you and keep you, friend.

I'm so great fun for what you shared and the tone of voice. you share this in love and grace and it is convicting not condemning. thank you. we are leaving for Florida SAT and I have been wrestling with the spirit on what I will wear. and kept saying well I can wear it in another state because I don't know the people there... etc etc. I am feeling excited to go through my clothes again and weed out some of what I was gonna wear. and choose something else.

Great video. I myself have been so interested in dressing modest for the Lord. Right now funds are not allowing me to shop right now but i cant wait to start dressing more modestly. All my wardrobe consists of right now are tight jeans n dresses. I dont own one modest piece of clothing and im a believer. I used to think to myself well this is just my style but i know God is slowly changing me because now i have a desire to dress differently. I use to think to myself that im not a girly girl. Thats what came to mind for me when i use to think of modest clothing. But in actuality i am a woman and need to dress more ladylike. I cant wait to shop for my first modest piece of clothing

Im in agreement with you! There is a "trend" right now of hundreds of these Modesty videos on UA-cam, too, and Im hoping the advise is taken to heart and it will last. But... there are many Christian women who will say that make up and jewelry, are also a vice for drawing attention to ourselves, and thinking that God didnt make us beautiful "enough", so that we have to "make better" the face God gave us. They quote the verses on adorning ourselves with good works, instead of gold and cosmetics. And that it was the idol worshiping Egyptians, who started the practice of eyeliner. Clearly, you're still comfortable with both, so how do you interpret such verses?

    • @IndiaTaylor93
      @IndiaTaylor93  7 років тому +2

Thanks for your comment! 1 Peter 3 talks about not letting your appearance "merely" be based upon your clothing and jewelry. I don't believe there is anything wrong with makeup and jewelry, however there can be if your motive and heart is in the wrong place. We have to consider that only God truly sees the heart of a person. All we can judge is their actions and fruit that they bear. If there seems to be an insecurity or pride issue, it will manifest itself. There are some Christian women that do not idolize or take much pride in their appearance, while there are others that do. It's truly a matter of the heart.

Sis I feel you. But worth your logic I wonder why you aren’t advocating for a Jewish or even Islamic code of dress. Whereas they take the logic all the way and cover everything (some even hands and face). I honk modesty should be discussed but the Bible doesn’t ever connect it to sexuality or connect it to gaze of others. Modesty is about the psychological effects it has on the person being modest. (Just my opinion after studying it out for years). But you’re beautiful and this discussion needs to happen. I’m just afraid when we do talk about it we end up with everyone has to decide for themselves what’s modest and Therefore we can’t really say sis with boobs out is immodest because to a Muslim or a Jew what you have on is immodest. Modesty is pretty subjective in Christianity.

As the bible says, we women do have to dress 👗 modestly and not wear what pertains unto a man 👖 modesty is definitely covering yourself and not showing off what was created for a man to like, cover your chest, the form of your legs, your shape, the way you dress does reflect your heart, women know if they wear certain things theyre gonna get certain attention when that shouldnt be the focus at all, and not saying that we cant dress nicely, nothing in the bible goes against that, but it does say to be modest, and not wear whT pertaineth unto a man, and God also explains what’s beautiful according to him, and us a great value which is a woman whos inside(spiritually, spirit) is righteous, not whats on the outside, you can be as pretty as you want but , How is your spirit?are you submissive and true to God? If so, thats beAutiful

You are already beautiful enough so why need to add makeup to get more attention from the world? Is it because of PRIDE? No need to dress fancy, luxury fashion style. Live simple. Dress modesty. Not over-doing. No need to wear bling bling to shine. It should be your heart that must shine and season the world with salt. Have a beautiful character of G-d. Heart of gold and diamond. If your heart is ugly so is your physical beauty? Just pointing out some facts straight!! Peace!!

      1 Timothy 2
9I want women to show their beauty by dressing in appropriate clothes that are modest and respectable. Their beauty will be shown by what they do, not by their hair styles or the gold jewelry, pearls, or expensive clothes they wear. 10This is what is proper for women who claim to have reverence for God.
