New tech here. I’m be installing one of these for the first time tomorrow and I appreciate the approach you took in this video. You took the time to be thorough and you don’t waste a bunch of the video rambling on like so many other people do on UA-cam.
You're going to love installing this side mount! You got this Josue 👊🏼!
I appreciate the positive feedback. With my style of videos I try to cover everything without over doing it. I want you to be interested while watching my content.
As a new tech, if you ever have any questions, please reach out anytime. 🙏
@@garagedoorgenius That’s really kind of you. I appreciate it! I’ll probably take you up on that offer from time to time.
That's a cool looking opener.
@@toemblem it's as these young kids say, BUSSIN! I really love the design of this opener. It runs so smooth! 💪🏼
Was contemplating replacing my screw drive Genie with one of these wall mount openers. After watching this AMAZING install video I'm heading to Amazon to order one of these NOW!! Thanks SO MUCH for a FANTASTIC video and an aboslutely professional install!!
I really appreciate the positive feedback!
You're gonna absolutely love this machine. User friendly and easy to install. 🙏💯
@garagedoorgenius ......you are 100% correct!! Mine has been installed for a little over a year now and it is FANTASTIC!! 👍😊
On my side mount installs, I run the emergency release rope through an eye hook and mount the eye hook about 6 inches above the handle. While doing an install, I had a gust of wind come through the garage and it blew the emergency release rope as the door was coming down and the handle got hooked on the stem of the bottom roller. I was lucky and saw it and had the remote in my hand and was able to stop the door.
Oh man, never thought of that. Note taken! 💯🤟🏼
Had this happen today with high winds, how do you reset the emergency switch?
@TurboDave you pull the red rope and it will disconnect the opener from the door. You'll hear a click. Repeat to re-engage the opener to the door.
Wow!!! That's a quiet opener! I'm getting it!
This was a great help. Thank you!
You are welcome! Thanks for the comment and watching. 👍🏼
Great install video!! I work over at Genie and I love seeing these Videos
Thanks for this video. It helped me get my door and opener back in working order.
Glad to be of assistance 🙏.
Fantastic video. I love installing this motor. It's a dealer installers delight. Just the fact the wall button is bluetooth is a great benefit. I hope to have my review video of this motor next week. Great job!
Oh and I was very glad you adjust the motor over to the end bracket. At first I thought you were giving it too much space. And including the travel programing limits was good. Again great video.
I bought one of these. This video helped me a lot. Thanks!
🙏
Terrific video. I am getting ready to install two of these units in our garage and your video will certainly save me a lot of time. Very well done. Thanks!
Thanks for the positive feedback! 🙏
@@garagedoorgenius I just installed my unit and it worked once. Now it is making noise inside the unit - not a grinding or bad noise but sounds like the motor is working but it is not turning the shaft. Any ideas on where I should start to look?
@@garagedoorgenius Never mind. I figured it out. I had pulled the emergency handle while I was manually moving the door up and down and it didn't go back all the way so the coupler was disengaged from the motor. I tugged on the emergency handle and it snapped back in and now it is working again. Doh!

Just installed mine with your tips. So helpful. One thing about the unit is that I didn’t know it can’t operate online without the Bluetooth light. Too funny.

What an awesome video. You saved me $400 on install charges of 2 openers. I knocked this out in a couple hours. My safe-t beam sensors are not working on one of the units(no lights), but will troubleshoot today. Hopefully the unit is not bad. Everything else works...

@@garagedoorgenius I had the wiring wrong on the sensors. That was not clear that the solid wires from both sensors had to be together in slot1 and the striped wires had to be together in slot 2. I had each sensor separate. It works perfectly now! Thanks a million!

It operates even sweeter!! I really like what Genie did with this unit. It will definitely give the common brand a run for their money. Wonder if Genie will sell a retail version. 🤔
@@garagedoorgenius in 3 years I will be needing at least 4 overheads. I'm thinking that's the model for my outdoor kitchen and hot tub area.
@@robertbeckler5058 do it man! 💪🏼. Will not be disappointed.
Nice motor. Genie for sure put effort into this. I only would like to see them do is if the garage is prewired to send a wired wall button and use the wireless one in conjunction with the wired one so you don’t have to change the battery too much
Itd be cool, I agree. Put the wired one where the pre wire is at and the wireless in the kitchen.
This opener is on my door. Since the publish date, I haven't changed the batteries yet. So they go for a while.
I like the way you make a pigtail on the cables. Good idea.
Afraid you missed the boat on the lock. When it engages what is it locking? Thin air by the looks of it. If someone forces the door open it will be a few inches before the roller hits the lock. It's meant to be installed right above a roller to limit any movement. The motor prevents the drums moving so it can't be lifted with the aid of the springs but a light door such as this one can be lifted as far as the roller.
You also fitted the cable tensioners incorrectly. What you did might work until it works it's way free. It's meant to be fitted over the roller shaft. This should not be attempted when the door is down and the cables are under tension. Better to lift the door up, carefully loosen the bottom bracket, fit the tensioner and refit the bracket.
I realize you are duty bound to sing the praises of the opener seeing it's a freebie, but if for any reason the door jams and the safety sensor doesn't reverse the opener, the absense of a tension sensor will cause the cables to unravel.
Agree with your overall assessment. It looks like a slick neat package. Another advantage it appears to have over the opposition is that you can install a wired wall button which I understand can't be done on the competitor's model.
🙏
Installed last week. Works great. Noticed last night 2 things: 1) the button on the wall mount opener flashes blue every few seconds. Not a big deal, but weird. Wish i could turn that off. 2) the wireless ceiling mount LED stays turned on but very very dim. I needed my garage dark and noticed when the light went out, it still had a noticeable glow to it. Not enough to project light onto anything, but again weird and something i wish i could turn off.
Great vidya. Thinking seriously about snagging a pair (for 2 standard doors) but unsure if I really need them. Knowing me, I'll probably wind up getting them anyway. Thanks for the detailed walk-through!
Very good video Sir
Much appreciated. 🙏
I would recommend that you charge your lines before hooking up to machine.. it helps speed the flow of electricity thru the system and removes unwanted free floating electrons…
Interesting comment! Thanks for the info.
I like this opener a lot. I especially like the OVH Door version, the infinity 2000.
Yeah it's a pretty awesome unit. I really like the design of the whole unit. Safe T Pulse is way better than the cable tension monitor on a LM. 👍🏼
@@garagedoorgenius those cable tension monitors seem very annoying, but they do look cool slow mode.
@@user-ft3cf4pn1y for sure! ✌🏼🤣
Very neat install except the lock should be within 3" of a roller
Hey thanks!
Yeah, I get beat up about that lock all the time. I was in a hurry to get the install and filming done. In hindsight, should've taken the time to put the lock where it should go.
@ Builder brigade
What about the lock? It’s not on the geni site? And the link you have in the description isn’t the right one. It doesn’t come up as a side mount. It shows it as a wall mount.
I like the lift master 8500 to be honest
Ricky Lucas it’s the the BIGGER BETTER BALLSIER MOTOR W/ THE GENIE LOGO YOU CAN TRUST! F*ck LM they’ve sold us all out long ago! Your 8500W is a weak ass 12v motor and doesn’t work properly on ANYTHING BIG! (Yes big bit within the parameters). In the head their weak motor doesn’t want close. The great torque found in the 24v from GENIE WILL be the WINNER over the next 10-20 years as LM forces its Client base to bleed n leave.
Only thing I’d say is put that lock closer to a roller but nice install 👍🏻👍🏻
10-4!
It was a quick install. Genie actually sent me this machine to review. Also, I had like a week to install/ film/edit before the door conference that was held in Salt Lake City 3-4 years ago. Mr. Kridel the Genie president said they were going to play it at the Genie booth. It was an awesome experience!
BTW, I love this side mount. They nailed it. 👊🏼
U should get the Geanie Allden connection door opener I have it on my garage door
You like it?
Yes I love it I can open my garage door with my cell phone from anywhere
Great video, super helpful but I can't for the life of me figure out why when you mounted the opener there was a gap between the collar and the torsion tube and then at the end of the video, that gap disappeared. Check out the gap at 8:27 vs. the gap at 24:55. How did you close the gap? I'm trying to install this same opener so I'm paying close attention to make sure I get it right!
Hello! You can mount the collar anyway you like. Either pusher all the way against the bearing plate or have a gap. As long as it's level. 👍🏼
Great video. Interesting machine. Its probably the only Genie I’d ever try. I still like the 8500W though. Have you installed the Chamberlain RJO70 Jackshaft yet?
I really like the no cable tension monitor. I've seen hack installs where the installer couldn't find a spot to mount the monitor. Put a screw in the monitor to hold it open and left it dangling from the unit. If that door slipped a cable the opener would've kept on trucking! Lol
The Safe T Pulse on the Genie bypasses that human error factor, which is nice. It really is a pretty awesome machine and I'm excited for it.
I haven't installed a Chambo side mount yet..
And always appreciate your comments 😊
I ordered one of these for my home. and will be installing this weekend. one thing that confused me was once the door is open all the way how does the machine start it going down. i.e. if i pull the rope on my current opener, the door isnt going to slam down. However i think thats what the cable keeper does, is it starts the downward motion. so it is actually very much necessary. at least thats how im thinking that works. otherwise the bar would just start unraveling the cables.
The Genie side mount has what's called a Safe T Pulse. It starts off at a very slow rate of speed. Eliminating cable slack. LM openers have the cable tension monitor that does the same thing.
You're going to really like the Genie side mounts. 💯👍🏼
I really want this to work for mine but my tension rod at the ends stick out only about an inch and they also are maybe only 1/2" to 3/4" in diameter. Is there an extension rod or anything I could put on the end of my tension rods that you know of?
Back again. On this install what was the ceiling opening space? It looks like the genie side opener only needs an inch or two above the center of the horizontal spring rod (It looks even almost flush with the top of the spindle).
This Genie machine actually sits below the drum (spindel). It's a great design. Fit some tight scenarios.
I have one on order you made this look so painless was wondering how many remotes come with unit?
This opener is the best thing that happened in 2020. So easy to install and set up. I believe it came with 1 remote. Although, you can easily get as many as you want from Amazon. Or even Home Depot or Lowe's. Programming additional remotes is a cinch! 😎👍🏼
Question: I installed mine and it has working fine . About 2 days ago it started glitching, now the red light keeps blinking and it won’t go up or down. Any suggestions?
Red light means improper limit settings. Did you try reprogramming the up and down again?
Installed this opener and all went perfectly, until...it was time to set the down/up limits. One early step in the procedure is to pull the emergency cord to disengage the door from opener. My opener will NOT re-engage. Am I missing how to re-engage? Does it re-engage automatically?
Yes, you should be able to pull the red rope to disengage and re engage.
Curious on door position during install. Video shows door in multiple positions after tightening jackshaft coupler. Does the motor freewheel or do you have the pull cord in the released/ lock position?
You can set the limits with the door in any position.
I just love jackshaft openers, even if they do throw cables sometimes. I'm in love with this opener right now. So many good things i can say about it compared to the 8500w, especially after watching this video At 4:45 do you know what that jumper wire is there for? Also, does your kid do garage doors as well?
Install and Wire N/C Interlock-Optional
1. Do not remove factory installed interlock wire unless installing an interlock. This jumper is required for
proper opener operation.
2. Use of any commercially available normally closed (N/C) dry contact interlocks can be used with this
opener. Using a small flat head screwdriver, press in the orange tabs at INTER-LOCK terminals and remove
factory installed jumper wire and insert the interlock wires.
@@garagedoorgenius thanks. I've never dealt with interlocks before

Having an issue with this opener where it will open and then once it's up, it'll start flashing red and won't come down when I push the button. I would then have to reset it by manually closing the door and then I can open and close it again with the button. Any idea what the problem could be?
when setting up and down limit to door goes up when pressing the down button, and door goes down when pressing the up button. Are the cable drums installed wrong?
Would you recommend this over a belt drive for a cleaner look and to be quieter??
Definitely!
Looks like someone’s been borrowing from LiftMaster. I still like it though, nice machine
The new Genie has features LiftMaster doesn't! 🤘🏼😉✌🏼
This side mount has definitely upped the bar.
Did you move the attachment rod from leftside to rightside or something , unboxing showed the collar going on the leftside, but next frame shows you attaching the collar to the rightside of machine ?
Can you stop and start the door at any height / position? Or do you have to pull the emergency cord and do it manually.
Sometimes I only like to open the door half way let air through
Absolutely! 👍🏼 Stop and start it anywhere you like.
Would it be worthwhile to replace the door seal when installing a new opener?
New door seal is always a good idea. Especially if it's all worn out. 👍🏼
How do you reengage the emergency release cable after you’ve pulled it?
You pull it again. It'll retract back into position. 👍🏼
Hooked it all up but remote, light, etc. is not connected to wall unit. Light has a dim green that can barely seen when plugged in. Any suggestions?
So this is Genie's take on the Liftmaster 3800/8500.
Yessir! 👍🏼
With new cable tension monitoring. It's pretty neat!
In my opinion wireless wall console is good for installer but it will become head ache for home owner.I recall Wayne Dalton I-drive openers
I remember those WD wall consoles! 😂 So far so good with the Genie wireless wall button ✅.
Ezzy made his yt debut!? Well I guess he’s been in a couple kinda
I just got mine delivered today. I have one question, the instructions say that the bottom of the cable tensioner can be no higher that 4 1/2 inches off the floor. Unfortunately, I have horizontal support braces that stick out pretty far from the face of the door that prevent me from placing the bracket below 6 1/4 inches. From what I see, that would be too high because it would hit the actual drum. How important is the spring tensioner?
Great question!
Are the horizontal Struts screwed to the door? If so, just move the horizontal support up out of the way. That way you can use the cable tensioner. They really do help keep those cables where their supposed to be.
Now I have heard of guys not using them and no issues.
@@garagedoorgenius No, these struts are molded into the door and cannot be moved. I kind of mocked it up against the door while in the up position and I think it should clear okay. What experience have you had with using the door bumpers instead of the spring tensioners?
@@brewerth I like door bumpers if it's a manually operated door.
Pusher spring bumpers are better. Especially when opener operated.
Very nice, thorough video. Question though - in speaking with a neighbor who had the 6170 installed on his 2 car garage door AND a 6070 installed on the single car garage door, he said that the installer told him that the spring on the two car garage had a Wayne Dalton Tourque Master Plus spring and would need to be changed out (I neglected to ask him what it was changed out to but I will get that info). Not sure if the installer he used just took advantage of my neighbor or, there is some credence to having to know what spring your door opener has and whether or not it will work with the 6170 and 6070. Any thoughts on this???
The installer/ tech is absolutely right. If your neighbor has a Torque Master it's best to convert to a torsion spring system. Torque Masters are junk. Especially if you're installing an awesome machine like that. Might as well make it right from the jump. Make sense..
@@garagedoorgenius Thanks for getting back to me. Absolutely agree - do it right from the get-go. According to the manual from Genie, it says that the garage door opener (6170) can only be used with doors that use torsion springs with a torsion bar diameter of 1 in. solid or hollow 14 or 16 ga. So now I have to hope that the builder is using that as the standard install and not the torque master as the standard spring assembly.
@@michaelg503 if it's a cookie cutter sub division that uses Wayne Dalton, probably is a Torque Master unfortunately.
@@michaelg503 and no problem 👍🏼. I'm here if you need garage door consulting.
@@garagedoorgenius I like to think of it as at least a Milano cookie-cutter subdivision...ha! Again, not sure what I'll get or if I'm able to request a torsion spring, but we'll see. I might hit you up on your consulting offer.... ;-) Thanks for offering that.
I'm wondering about the electronic lock. They way you have it mounted, couldn't you open the door till it hit the first roller it came in contact with? Appears to by over a foot and then you could get in and open the door all the way.
Exactly was I was thinking and I read somewhere that you want that lock to be just inches above a wheel, to prevent someone from opening the door and slipping under it.
For sure. When I install these for clients, the lock goes right above a roller. This is my personal door, so I put it a little higher than normal.
I think you didn't position the lock right. It's supposed to stop the door from somebody trying to open it manually from outside.
Yep, you're right. I just put it there because I was in a hurry to get the content out.
Also, I'm a door guy. So guaranteed nobody is getting in my house through the garage. 😁
Does the lock need to be right above the roller to be correct for locking? It sure seems like it to me!
Yeah for sure! But also depends where the roller falls out in unison with the lock hole on the track. I mean, if it's like 3-5 inches away, I don't know of anyone that could squeeze under the door that's 5 inches off the floor. I think a human skull measures 6 inches, but I could be talking out my arse! 🤘🏼🤓🤘🏼
Stay safe out there 🙏 Lance.
@@garagedoorgenius If security is the goal, a 3-5" gap will allow a thief to easily push the lock release from under the door so you really do need to make the lock block the roller very near fully closed.
@@joeblow3143 yeah for sure. I get what you're saying. Closer to a roller. 👍🏼
I may have to see if I can do what you're saying. Seems kinda impossible.. I'll give it a go this weekend and report back!
@@garagedoorgenius for my Liftmaster install, I used a step bit to drill three holes in the track, two for the machine screws and one larger one for the slide bolt. I placed it so that the slide bolt is just a little above one of the rollers.

Great video. I just installed Genie model 6072. Only thing I don’t like is the unit itself wobbles a little when in use. Is this bad??

@@garagedoorgenius ok thanks. I thought about bracing the unit better but thought that might damage the motor.
@@brianbrink1421 na, bracing it better won't hurt a thing.
I also take a laser line and shoot it across the torsion tube to make sure it's as straight as possible. A crooked torsion tube will cause wobble.

Drew this side mount is in my personal garage. Being a door guy I run it all the time. Haven't had a 1 problem yet. Haven't changed the batteries in the wireless wall control since I published this video! Pretty solid opener and I guarantee you'll love it as an installer.

I like the Genie side mounts. They are a little smaller in size and no cable tension monitor. The coupler has 3 sets screws vs 2.

Can you shift the shaft over? You only need about an inch sticking out the non opener side.
@@garagedoorgenius unfortunately I don’t think so. It seems to be pretty set in what’s holding it up. In fact the “extension’ on the side is the exact size of a 5/16 size socket.

What are we wanting to do with the conduit again...🤔.
Is there an option to make it open faster
Unfortunately no sir. I'll have a speed test video out soon. Showing the LM8900 vs Genie 6170.
Do you need the cable keepers?
Not really, but it's a good failsafe. Plus they only take a few minutes to install.
nice wow genie copied liftmaster and chamberlain but it is a sweet machine
This is my FAVORITE machine at the moment. It is so smooth. 👍🏼
I wonder how it's holding up a year-and-a-half later?
This unit is one solid machine! It's still working with no issues at all. I know this because I installed it on my door. The battery backup definitely helped us out during this last Texas winter. The LED light is super bright. I couldn't ask for a better opener.
Video does not show nor do you say, does this allow you to mount the opener on either side?
Yes, you can mount on either side.
Great install though just hate genie
Mine is not even a year old and it opens but not close. I need to release a rope and pull it myself every time I want the door close.
How can be this issue resolved?
9 times out of 10 if you can't close the door it's because something's up with the sensors. I would check those and the wiring for the sensors. Make sure there's not a staple that's ran in the wire and make sure connections are nice and tight.
Also you should see a solid red light on 1 side and a green light on the other (no blinking lights). If this is happening during daylight hours, like in the morning or sunset, sunlight low on the horizon can affect the receiving side sensor, a simple reversing sides of the sensor will usually fix this (move red light sensor to where green light sensor is and green to red).
I want to know Genie Mfg, how many years that access door is going to last with those cheap ass hinges? They feel like they’re going to break every time you open the cover.
To be fair, you really shouldn't have to gain access to that panel your talking about that much.
Ordered one of these and had it installed by a professional, it seems to work fine but I notice the machine wobbles a bit from side to side as the door opens / closes. Is that normal or was it mounted incorrectly?
No sir. That's very normal for those machines to wobble a bit. Pretty standard.
However, I've learned how to tweak them to reduce that. First thing I do is make sure the spring line is straight as possible. I use a laser level. If it's crooked, it'll wobble horribly. I've also put another bearing bracket between the drum side the opener is mounted to and the spring. That stiffens up that side of the tube. The side that operates. The bearing is added labor and material, but generally after that, the machine doesn't move at all. Again, these are tweaks.
@@garagedoorgenius Great thanks for the info!
@@michaeleconomides4054 no worries! 👍🏼
@@garagedoorgenius I uploaded a video of how much it wobbles. Normal?
ua-cam.com/video/xn7spCPM6kE/v-deo.html
@@michaeleconomides4054 it's normal. No worse than a LM side mount. You have to understand those side mounts come with 1 bracket that fastens to the machine/wall. One side is always wide open. I've used a flag bracket before on the side that doesn't have one. That stiffens it really nice. Also, the tweaks in our early chat.
The plastic safety keeper looks like it will wear through real fast.
3 years later and mine is still in great shape. So far so good. 👍🏼
I wonder why the spring tensioner is needed on a wall mounted but not on a ceiling mounted operator.
That's a good question. Could be that side mounts are mainly designed for high lift or vertical left doors. However, there are trolley ops now with the soft start/soft stop feature.
It's because with a side mount garage door opener you are spinning the torsion spring rod versus pushing the door down. By taking the tension off the torsion spring as the door starts to go down it reaches a point where there is no weight on the door and the tension on the cable can become loose to the point where it comes off the drum. Those tension keepers pick up the slack to keep the cable taught onto the drum
@@stevebalun9554 great explanation bud! 👍🏼💯🔥
@@garagedoorgenius the real question is, if you like the LiftMaster or Chamberlain offerings, but the cable tension switch has you concerned, would adding this cable tension springs that attached to the bottom rollers prevent the issues that plague the LiftMaster and Chamberlain models? My guess is it would help.
@@stevebalun9554 anything would help really. I mean, the cable tensioner is a pain, just an extra step.
I'm sold on Genie side mounts. They really dialed that machine in.
My current Genie garage door opener has a light that automatically turns on when the garage door is opened and then turns off after a pre-set time period. Does the light provided with this unit work in a similar manner or does it need to be manually turned on and off?
Nevermind. I found the answer in the manual. The light does automatically turn on when the garage door opens and automatically shuts off 4 minutes later.
It works the same way! This opener has all the cool features. The LED light is insanely bright. You wouldn't be disappointed 😉.
Does it needs to be level? I can't get mine leveled
Yes, definitely needs level. Is the tube bent?
Make sure the torsion tube is level.
@@garagedoorgenius yeah the tube is not leveled I think it might be bent. And I installed it but it's not lifting up or down. The tube is not rotating. I don't knw whats the problem. Are you on Instagram or some other social media i would appreciate if you can help me. Thanks
@@garagedoorgenius I was working all day to install it never did by myself. Thanks for your video it helped alot
I just dont dig that pulse close. Rattles too much. Can see customer complaints. Should be smoother transition there.
It was weird at first, but I've gotten used to it. I run my 6170 several times a day and barely notice it. At first, I didn't like it, but now it's my fave opener. Been pushing more of these instead of 8500W. Especially since the shortage here lately.
So...how does one link my car to this opener? Last time I tried it, I bricked my opener. Painful.
The square button located on the opener "Program Set Button" is the LEARN button they talk about in the cars owners manual. You'll have to activate it once you get to that step. Which all you do is press the square button until you see a 🔵 light come on. Then let go. It should be blinking 🟣 now, ready to learn. Then complete the steps for HomeLink programming.
@@garagedoorgenius Thanks, GDG. Dumb question, but the interim step seems off to me. Genie wants me to have my HomeLink learn the remote code first and then do the function you just mention. Does that sound right? And when I did it last time, that is what caused my issue. Am actually wondering if I should have used a different button the remote (not the "live" button). Does any of this make sense? BTW, thank you for taking the time with my issue. I appreciate it.
@@morganbryan5890 sounds to me like it’s similar to programming a wireless keypad. The keypad first has to know what type of motor you’re dealing with (LF, Genie, etc.) and then go through the normal programming steps. Your vehicle owners manual should walk you through how to do that. Once it knows what motor you’re trying to link, you can press the learn button and link up your vehicle. Hope this helps
Do ya like it?
I love it!
What do you think about it?
I'd say not too bad, probably the only new genie id buy. I'm hoping someone can make a video comparing it to the 8500W
Where can i buy one
Any garage door company that sells Genie. They don't have a retail version out yet.
It's a really awesome side mount! 💯
@@garagedoorgenius i am recommending it to my friends
@@theericfreeze4498 please do! They will not be disappointed 😉 💯🔥
u can get them on ebay too!
Did not know that! Thanks bro 👊.
How many lbs can it lift???
Honestly, I don't know off the top of my head. I think it'll lift a 12x14 if memory serves me right.
Your lock is not in the correct location, the needs to be on top of one of the wheels/roller You have it in such a manner you could lift the open.
Yeah I know it goes above a roller. This is on my own personal door. That's where I chose to put it. But thanks for the insight!
what did you have before this??????
Genie PMX 500.

@@GarageDoorGuy59 thanks! He's a handful. 😂😂
you didnt hang the light
It was up on the wall. Not sure why it wasn't in the footage. Haven't watched this video in a while. I was kinda rushed. Genie sent that machine to me. The garage door expo was in Salt Lake City in about a week. Had to install it, edit, publish so it would be ready for the expo. I may have forgotten to include the light.
Actually, the light is on the ceiling. Towards the end at the programming part you see it.
@@garagedoorgenius oh im sorry it wasnt meant as sarcasm i was looking to see how you connected the light and and i was like damn didnt show it but i figured out all good nice video

Your lock needs to be set above a roller otherwise it’s just decoration
Yep, that's a true statement. 👍🏼

At 11:21 Does Chris Cuomo know you stole his catch phrase? Lol.. Had a Craftsman that lasted 15 years ( only replaced because it was loud ) Installed a Genie ( $200+ ) around 5 years ago ( Whisper quiet ) Lasted about 3 years.. I I was impressed with the noise reduction... Not impressed with reliability & customer service ( They kept giving me the run around about motor replacement approval when i wasn't getting disconnected by them randomly ) after 45+ minutes of this i just stopped calling back to be placed on hold and disconnected again!
If I'm not no professional but I think your luck is in the wrong position
The wires fall out of the unit. Poor design. Waiting on teed support for over 3 hours. The safety wires fall out of the unit after one cycle of the door
Strip back the wire better so they sit in the terminal's better. If they are to short they will fall out for sure. Sounds like an installer error.
@@garagedoorgenius tryed that.
@@mikephillips7183 I know that they can be a pain sometimes.
Can you condense down the 4 sensors wires to 2 wire's? Instead of putting 2 wire's per sensor slot, condense down to 1.
@@garagedoorgenius tried that also. Tried larger wires. Tried smaller wires. Been dealing this issue fir 2 weeks.
@@mikephillips7183 sounds like that terminal strip is messed up.
Did you install this unit or did someone else?
Junk liftmaster knock off
😂😂😂😂😂 genie is better than that garbage 8500 anyday
@@Liftmaster-sw2zy amen
Haha
I had two 8500s at my last house. PIA to install. slower than the second coming when they worked right. Constantly throwing cables. VERY spendy. I just ordered one of these, How bad can it be?- I guess I will let you know.
